I know $#|+ happens but this is just ridiculous. Somewhere someone is laughing... and this person must be stopped. /edit: oops, attatched now

You may not have witnessed it, but let me assure you, I just threw a wad of old cabbage in the general direction of Fresno

Well, yes and no. regardless of screen resolution the line you're tracing is still the same width in pixels, and the cursor (or at least the part that matters) is always just one pixel. However at lower res the whole thing will look bigger to you, and perhaps make it easier to follow with your hand. for the record I was using 1152x864 on a 16" (viewable image size) screen

I didn't mean to sound like a whuffo, though perhaps I did. I wouldn't group this kind of activity with a social community of skydivers taking risks they can appreciate, and developing skills. No, I'd group it with riding shopping carts down steep hills with no pads on and sticking bottle rockets in your rear-end while you're friend yells "holy $#|+ that was awesome!" from behind his dad's handy-cam.

I agree, this individual is most likely going to continue testing every authority figure she encounters. I'm guessing it will get worse before it gets better if you don't do something about it as soon as you can. If you do wish to try and talk it out with her before doing something along the lines of pressing charges, tell her the position you're in, tell her your options, and tell her why it's a difficult decision for you. If at that point she's still apathetic, then screw it, hand her over to someone with less patience, and a greater array of punishments. Man do we need yard sticks back in schools...

all I remember about this was a bunch of teenagers killing themselves and the media making a big deal out of it... seems pretty dumb honestly

how is skydiving not unlike being addicted to crack?
champu replied to Newbie's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
you generally don't have to go to the ghetto to buy skydiving (except of course if you go to www.skydivetheghetto.com) -
all you people with your minds in the gutter thinking about skydiving all day...

I have an apartment and am not limited by cooking apparatuses, but I don't really cook much beyond pasta or, as Dave mentioned, slabs of beef on a grill with a beer I would say yes, there has to be a financial incentive to cook, cause college students are lazy, and if the money's the same, I can grab a really good burger at the pub down the street. I usually eat in cause I don't feel like paying to eat out, so meals for five bucks or less would probably go over well

I have a sabre135 I tuck the nose, make sure the front of the slider is pulled down all the way (or technically, up all the way), and roll the tail "thoroughly" From my toss to being stood up takes about a second, and the slider hits the bumpers in another 2-3 seconds. Usually covers a total of about 500'. I've never had it take longer than that.

alright, alright, but that's not really -free- it just comes with your internet connection service. I think most ISPs provide their users with 5-20megs of webspace. These are usually bandwidth limited around 1GB/mo or so. I was referring to pure hosting companies. There are an alarming number of hosting companies out there that have free services that let you upgrade away from ads, but will give you crap if you want... -subdomains -more than a couple e-mail addresses -scripting in PERL, PHP, ASP, etc -use of .htaccess -A MySQL database -shell access -FTP access All things that I would really consider to be basics if they are going to take your money.

The last telemarketer that called here... Guy: "Hi I'm calling from-" Me: "I'm sorry I do not speak English" Guy: "Hablas Espa-" Me: "No, I'm afraid I'm not versed in any form of human communication." Guy: "... " Another fun thing is just pressing buttons on the phone in the middle of their pitch and then if they stop, apologize and ask them to please continue. Repeat until they give up.

I enjoy reading just about any type of discussion as long as it's not worn out ("hey should I downsize my canopy","I'm trying to get some person to jump but they won't what is wrong with them") I do think that discussions bereft of wit can get dry pretty fast, so the occasional on topic humor can certainly help things along provided it's not insulting. I have a few times typed out a post in a thread, read it, then smacked my hand on my forehead and just clicked the back button.

another thing about hosting services. If you do decide to eventually find a pay-for-hosting service out there, I would make a blanket recommendation to stay away from places that offer some sort of free hosting, and then allow you to "upgrade" away from ads, bandwidth restrictions, etc. Doing so is asking for headaches. Oh, and the sooner you start using FTP to get files to your webspace the happier you will be. You mentioned geocities, and if I recall they have a web-interface to upload files. Such interfaces are what we like to call "unwholesome"

Is It Even Remotely Possible To Live...

Is this the first dream you've had of this nature? -
How many jumps did it take you to get your A license?
champu replied to kelel01's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
pulling out the log book... I stopped for a while last winter and when I came back had to do a prcp (static-line with practice ripcord) and a 10 second delay and then I went back to where I left off. I did my coached jumps and check dive and all that fun stuff and had picked up almost all the requirements along the way. I got my 5th accuracy landing on jump 26 to finish off my card. -
I don't really care how badly you want a ball, and how special you think you are for having seats that close to the field. if you see a player on your team coming after the ball, he gets first dibs

If I were flying a camera on a load where four people were jettisoned for singing (and I didn't have to shoot a tandem), I'd probably follow them out to capture the ensuing funnel/carnage

I can't help but picture a strong gust of wind blowing that thing over as it sits on the tarmac
