If I wore I suit that baggy I could probably land it.

This summer I'd often be sitting in the lab running some automated tests I'd written that took figgin -forever- and I'd be sitting there staring at this anechoic chamber while these two-way radios sat there chirping into a microphone, completely spacing out and my manager told me I should get a cup of coffee and browse the web or something while I waited... ...and so, ya know, you shouldn't go disappointing your manager

Stickers in general kinda suck (except those USPA stickers, those are cool, they're allowed) someone did buy me a shirt, however, that says /(bb|[^b]{2})/ and I do wear it...

I was actually thinking it would be funny to have one of the newer chevy impalas and do this. I once classified all cars into two categories and that's all you needed to know about the person driving them. -Dented -Not Dented

while simply saying "this is a repost" may not be very helpful, I think if you say, "already posted here:" with a link to a previous thread in which the same thing was discussed for 20 pages, you can greatly reduce the forum's dead-horse-beating factor.

I rather like the SA forum guidelines: Before posting, please ask yourself the following question: "Am I making a post which is either funny, informative, or interesting on any level?" If you can answer "yes" to this, then please post. If you cannot, then refrain from posting. Before replying, please ask yourself the following question: "Does my reply offer any significant advice or help contribute to the conversation in any fashion?" If you can answer "yes" to this, then please reply. If you cannot, then refrain from replying.

I don't know why, but every time I read that passage I'm reminded of this joke Man says to God: "God, why did you make woman so beautiful?" God says: "So you would love her." "But God," the man says, "why did you make her so dumb?" God says: "So she would love you."

I've smoked for a few years, two or three a day, mainly just as a study break... I don't smoke (at all) during the summer when I'm working and I'm not in school... I don't smoke when I go home on breaks... Sometimes I'll smoke in my car if I'm alone and the trip takes more than a couple hours... I go outside my own apartment to have a cigarette... I generally don't smoke in public places... It's getting dropped like a hat when I graduate.

I'm not sure that photo needs the kid to look funny

I'm not going to defend the UN. I don't particularly care for it, and the US government tends to ignore it when it's wants to anyway. The figure was just to show what some of the other major foreign aid contributors felt was a good target amount. The UN itself is, as you suggested, irrelevant. Many of the countries met it, and at least 20 did better than the US. The amount of money we spend is likewise irrelevant if we do it foolhardily. I think trying to spur development by doing little more than throw money at a country is futile. And in fact, a best-case result is that it simply won't work. You can read Bill's post a few up that demonstrates this. Pro-active -> peace corps -> teach medicine, agricultural techniques, etc. -> some improvement and where there is disagreement, there is still appreciation. Passive money chucking -> impoverished classes -> broken glass walls -> bad news

I have a pit-special from tonysuit that I really like, and plan to jump the heck out of in the near future. I also plan to get a pair of freefly pants as I seem to have "belly weekends" and "freefly weekends" depending on who grabs me by the arm at the 15 minute call Eventually I'd like to be able to jump and have fun with any group. The way I see it, I've got plenty of time to let it all unfold. /edited to add: also if you want to provide lasting entertainment to all those around you, try to sitfly with booties...

if I recall from the A+ cert. crap way back when it's 4 seconds with pretty much all modern motherboards. You can set options in your bios to make it act instantly though. Some will let you have a momentary press put the computer into sleep mode. You didn't mention at what point the system gives up on trying to shut down. -ignoring the request completely and returning to your desktop as though nothing happened often means a service is running that tells windows it shouldn't be force-quit. Ad-Aware will hopefully help this out. -if it grays out the screen and starts to shutdown but hangs, it's a service that was pooly written that was trying to tell windows it shouldn't be force-quit, see above. -if it gets past the desktop, and dies on anyone of the shutting down screens or at a black screen, then start thinking about running a windows update or checking for updated drivers for your hardware.

while it was delivered in a, how shall we say, less than poetic style, it's a valid point. whether it was an applicable or sufficient argument for a stand taken is an entirely different matter.

If you're speaking in gross terms I agree we're #1. Relative to our country's wealth, we are further down the line, historically not even falling in line with the UN's target of %0.7 of the GDP (more like %0.1 in the 1990s) Even though we do provide a lot of developmental funds, it's nearly impossible to avoid bias when it comes time to dole out the foreign aid. It's also ridiculous to expect nothing but praise when you give out money to nations entrenched in military conflict.

I think if you are talking about inventions, it would be fair to attribute those made at American universities, laboratories, and/or companies to America as a whole. (after, of course, the individual(s)) Environment can be everything.

The more I learn about how religious bodies have acted in the past, particularly towards advocates of change for the greater good (intellectuals, mathematicians, etc), the more cynical I feel about religion in general. A religion, as benign or as potent as it's teachings may seem, is like a time-bomb waiting for just the wrong person to gain influence. Disputes in Palestine? Hell yes Palestinians have every right to be pissed off, not as Christians or Muslims, but as Palestinians. Right now it sucks to be Palestinian, Israelis are large proponents of this suckage, and Americans are guilty by association.

Male - Central Africa - 1675 - Designer, Engineer or Craftsman. --- Seeker of truth and wisdom. You could have seen your future lives. Others perceived you as an idealist illuminating path to future. --- Your lesson is the development and expansion of your mental consciousness. Find a good teacher and spend a good part of your time and energy on learning from his wisdom. it won't let me use 1675 for the year, so I guess I'm only allowed to check back one life...

alright, so your arch may be better, but at least I wasn't staring at the ground... ...tandems are cheating anyway

dorky-looking on first jump? yeah I'd say so. (stiff a f%^&ing board too)

for a startup site that may or may not have a lot of traffic it would be a good excersize to set it up and host it on your own machine, chances are you'll learn a thing or two, and perhaps appreciate good hosting companies a bit more A lot of people tend to throw money at an issue rather than learn anything, I'd always recommend you know what it is you're paying for

the SIM says 14mph (somewhat waiverable), but special care should be taken with students if the landing area is surrounded by objects that can create unpredictable turbulance. if the wind is changing a lot, and the landing area has rotors all over the place, it's not really safe for anyone, let alone students.

I rarely smoke when I'm driving, but when I do... yeah that's why the car came with an ashtray... A person hit my hood with one once... it's just impolite to say the least.
