I'm guessing they didn't do the poll on this web site.

Well when I skydive I trust in scooby doo to pull for me... that dog can figure anything out. -
looks like a very expensive jacob's ladder.

that reminds me, stupid answering machine messages get to me... the following pieces of information are stupid and should never occur in an answering machine message: -you're unable to take the call -I've reached and am listening to a machine -I should leave a message -the message is to be left after the beep -I should leave my name and number in my message -how you plan to get back to me shortly the ideal answering machine message is just "Hi this is [name] at [phone-number] ." no useless crap, but you can still be sure you dialed correctly

I'm going to get in line with the many people I'm sure have told you this, it's always good to do the "big three" check about a minute before exit 3 buckles - legs and chest, routed properly, excess stowed and secure 3 rings - left and right side, both assembled properly 3 handles - main throw out secure, but not tucked too far into the BOC pouch, cutaway (and soft reserve) handle not folded under the MLW just one of those many good habits to get into

What would you say a skydiver wears a helmet for?
champu replied to Conundrum's topic in The Bonfire
So... ...You're saying these bolts in my skull weren't necessary? Damn it! I always do this... /edited to add: after you land, clip it to your chest strap and it also makes a handy bucket to put your goggles, gloves, and altimeter in. -

Suddenly, eating a hamburger seems almost as reckless crossing the street outside of the clearly indicated crosswalk while a slight rain causes the road to be particularly slick, dusk has reduced visibility considerably, and the holiday season has heightened the potential for drunk drivers and possibly even random acts of terrorism*. *you must now, by law, mention terrorism in every news article.

ProTrack has two volume settings, Loud (110dB @1" +/-2dB) and Really Loud (117dB @1" +/-2dB) Not sure what SPL the Passport Italia altimeters put out, but people seem to claim they are louder. (hopefully not too much louder, honestly) To give you an idea, on the lower of the two settings I can put my protrack on my bed and cover it with a pillow and still hear it pretty clearly, but ymmv.

A thought for Newbies Giving Advice
champu replied to ChasingBlueSky's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Yeah, apparently I'm an Old Hand with about a year and a half in the sport... I think the titles may be misleading. I also think a "post loading" would be kinda funny (total posts / number of jumps) Anyhow, back to the topic at hand, I spend an hour and a half in a car filled with students each way to and from the dropzone every weekend. Let me tell you, tongue biting has become a sport in itself. Occasionally I'll recount stories, but the most common thing you'll hear me say is, "Yeah... Don't do that, talk to [appropriate instructor name]" I'm with PhreeZone and AggieDave.... Listening is where it's at, speculation makes you splat. -
just got back from driving my sister and her husband to the airport... there's no way I'm falling back asleep

Mirage G3 MOS born in 2000, I'm the second owner. It's in great shape, has about 600 jumps on it now. Just sent the Cypres in for it's 4yr

I'm Rich and didn't know it! (whuffo ignorance thread)
champu replied to Dumpster's topic in The Bonfire
I was about to say, wow, they're ignorant and stupid, a dangerous combination. -
An Aviator (Royal Blue), a ProTrack, a bunch of clothing, and bunch of candy.

hanging out with the family getting ripped... I was under the impression this is what christmas was about...
-
shave it all off, buy yourself a pair of clippers and it'll last you years, and you can use the money you save on more jumps... ...or food cause you already spent your food money on jumps.

I think if a woman at our dropzone said anything lewd, suggestive, or flirtatious to me I'd dive under my canopy and hide there until she left (I'm a giant sissy)

ah! I knew I recognized you @1:24 tomas. I will make my way out to hinkley one of these seasons... no, really...

I know people have already made the joke, but I actually stared at that photo of the otter for a few minutes thinking, "what in the hell does a twin otter have to do with TT's background in computers... does he work on avionics? some kinda engine management computer?" My wallpaper aqui

I, for one, like the pretty graphics and animations that accompany the changes in threat level as they are presented by all the various media outlets. I think what the media is 100% missing (or ignoring) and the government is 95% missing (or ignoring) is that the best place for concerns of terrorism are in the back of people's minds, not the front.
-
Maybe, maybe not, but I'd say the probability of about 25000 canopy collisions is pretty high.

or you could make some indiscernibly cryptic image through careful cropping

curses! you supplied v1.0.12 while I suggested the archaic and weathered v1.0.11
