We were actually discussing this the other day, and it all depends on how you fill out your log book. For example... jump number N: Aircraft: 208B Exit Altitude: 13500ft Equipment: mirage/sabre135 FreeFall: 60sec jump number N+1: Aircraft: sabre135 Exit Altitude: 2500ft Equipment: mirage/dash-m 135 FreeFall: 3sec

7 I usually try and get 4 in, I'll do two right off in the morning, have lunch, then do two more. that's a pretty reasonable day.

strange that he seems to be having trouble gaining support from the scientific community and must market it commercially...

If you've got 2 bodies in your trunk, don't speed in maryland :)

74 in a 65? what a bunch of tight-asses. regardless, once again, those most capable of getting away with a crime probably thought of a better way to handle their problem -
Damn straight... The biggest problem that arises from putting up an arguement such as "men need to act more like real men and women need to act more like real women." is the often ridiculous and insulting characteristics that one subsequently attaches to the titles. To suggest that I somehow better represent my gender simply by owning a circular saw is laughable. Any good qualities you try to associate with only men or only women could just as easily be applied to everyone. Being courteous and honorable? Being caring and supportive? These should be perscriptions for everyone.

5 weeks! how did you do it? I want secrets... but seriously, if you have no particular reason to suspect otherwise, it's most likely fine. but you know what, in the spirit of safety, go ahead and air it out and repack it anyway. If you don't mind doing it, it couldn't hurt.

This depends greatly on what type of helmet you have (protec vs. full face vs freefly) and how tightly it fits over your head. You might start with wind noise on the order of 90-100dB, a protec might give you a few dB of attenuation, where as a tight fitting full-face or freefly helmet could give you upwards of 30dB of attenuation. At that noise level, an audible should definitely be able to "wake you up" Try asking around your dropzone if you can jump someone's to test it out before you buy one.

hey, I saw this movie Cutaway on FX last night, how unrealistic is that? I mean... you guys don't know anyone that actually smuggles drugs do you?
-
you can however go to your dropzone, take a photo of someone under canopy yourself, bring it into photoshop and play with it until you have a silhouette particularly simple if you have access to a drawing tablet

Okay ladies, you're man has a cool $11,000,000 +tax which, you've just found out, he intends to spend on you. What are some things you'd rather have him buy you than drillbit underwear. (besides the obvious 550,000 jumps which has already been mentioned)

I picked 2, but kinda like Ivan I feel kinda "meh" about all of those

I think it's pretty much a wash either way skills-wise, you should learn the same free-fall, canopy, and packing skills with either program on your way to your A. There's probably a greater emphasis placed on spotting in S/L programs (yelling "door", "five right/left", and "cut" is fun btw, provided it's not in the middle of february) AFF seems to give people more instant gratification, but at most places, at almost twice the cost. I say save your money, stick with S/L, and you'll have an easier time picking up your own jumpsuit, rig, etc.

very mystish, I like... wasn't very long though

"If I had to order somebody out of a catalogue, it would be her" I'm sorry but that made my night /eta: their faces are all bright red, I'm guessing they're plastered

I saw a commercial for that and I laughed at the idea, forgot it was on, I'll check it out btw, yeah "skydivers of the caribbean" would be a hilarious ride. you could ride in a little 182 mockup and be taken around a dropzone with puppets that were creeper bowling and getting wasted watching skydiving videos

yeah, 50 is quite a few people. if you have that much interest then like I said, work with the dropzone as well as the university, I'm sure they'll be willing to give you a hand. regarding transportation, that's probably 90% of my job: getting everyone to and from the dropzone to their liking every weekend. you just have to be nice to those with cars. It helps to have a car yourself I suppose, I can always drive at least 3 people down each day, and it gives me an excuse to go to the dropzone more often "I have to go skydiving, the students are depending on me!"

I don't think much is going to change because of this. You don't see cursing on many cable networks either, that's by the network's policy not the FCC. Any show that's suddenly going to take advantage of this "new and exciting technique of communicating" was probably mentally bankrupt to begin with. You'll probably start hearing it used on radio talk shows quite a bit

I was having lunch at a Quiznos back in July with a friend of mine (only people in the place are the two of us, and one guy behind the counter) This woman walks in and hands out fliers asking us if "we'd like to try sumpoosie". The fliers were excessively pink and were emblazon with elaborate imagery of people having a good time (presumably as a direct result of partaking in the beverage in question) We exchanged glances, sighed, and said, "sure, why not." I'm not a big fan, though I don't much care for Go Fast, Red Bull, KMX, Amped, Double shots, or any of those other $2 8oz cans... Give me a cup of black coffee any day

at my university (illinois @ champaign) we're a "student interest club" which means we're allowed to have a website, mailing list, and grab a room to have a meeting every once in a while. We don't get any funding, and injuries certainly wouldn't be covered under student insurance. We work much more closely with the dropzone (archway) to keep the club going than we do with the university.

nah, that'll just get the FAs standing outside the door asking you if you're alright every few minutes. Doing just about anything you're not supposed to is easy, just don't act like you're doing anything you're not supposed to, and most of the time people won't ask questions. I'm sure the delayed entrance method (I know that sounds kinda lewd) would probably work 90% of the time. /edit: yeah "lewd" not "lude" where's my mind...

if I get a job in Ft Lauderdale after I graduate, you'll be seeing plenty of me there... question, so where is the dropzone located on the airport? I know there's the main airport hanger/building, the hangers just to the north and west of that (where pbx is/was) and then that whole mess of buildings north of the airport where skydive america used to be, where does SoBe fit in to that?

just today I was doing a 9-way with some older jumpers with pretty high numbers and after we got done going over the exit out of the mock-up and waiting for the plane to pull around one of them was kinda eyeing my container and asked, "so what are ya jumping in there?" "sabre 135" (I have a mirage MOS so it's kinda deceptively small looking) "okay, just checking..." "it's alright, thanks for asking." it reminded me of some of the stories I've heard of people jumping the wrong rig and getting a not-so-fun surprise at 3000ft, little questions and comments can go a long way, and I doubt anyone would take offense to them
