  1. Sure, and if it does not seem ideal a pilot can make a go around.
  2. What have you attached? It wont have proper mine type unless you upload it with proper extension.....
  3. Crashing the ground with even high speed and or high speed stall.... I never really gave it much number crunching but my canopy feels like it recovery quicker on rears than brakes. Not like a sabre2 has a long recovery arc anyway. What canopy would you need to have the strength to go directly from a dive to a stall on rears? -Michael What is your range on brakes? About your full reach? You got about 20-25 cm with rears before you stall. Rear risers are not tools for saving your arse. You might have some early signs before you stall with breaks, there are less signs with rears.
  4. I got similar problem with my Triathlon 160. My WL is about 1.4+. I got a right turn. It was relined, so line-set should be ok. I got it on older risers, so I'm going to replace risers and check again. i usually make one leg strap tighter so I'd rather compensate with harness turn, than brakes.
  5. Crashing the ground with even high speed and or high speed stall....
  6. Imagine if the very same jumper would have dedicated some time under that canopy. Checking descent rate and recovery with a help a visual digital altimeter up high. He would have implemented his plan gradually with an audible with swoop guide.....
  7. What a pitty that those fancy chart would not tell if you crash or not. Is this a way of telling the your fortune? Notice that he got no sense how to fly his wing. Do you have some chart for common sense?
  8. good idea! A lot of good advice there... I searched through those results and couldn't find any thing of, or on, value . Buying a new canopy is not a good investment. Buying a popular mid range canopy is a bit better, because those are much more easier to sell. Usually the best deal is getting something with 150-200 jumps, price can be 30-50% of the new price.
  9. Sure. And I got no diving license either. But that about diving and not skydiving. AFAIK there is no WL restrictions are enforced in USA on licensed skydivers.
  10. I don't think that you can a long or negative recovery canopy for learning how to swoop. A canopy with a fairly short recovery can be the best tool for practicing front riser turn landing upto 180 degrees rotation. With other words: If someone can not execute a high speed landing into a lane using e.g. 180 rotation with front risers has no business with canopies of long recovery arc like Katana, Demon.....
  11. Sure. You can predict that someone is going to crash under a HP canopy if he is at least jumping a HP canopy.... I don't think that pure like jump number, WL ... etc can tell you if someone would crash on landing or not...
  12. Do you have about his approach? I can spot some turning, but I could not identify the source. What I see that he failed to manage to swing back under the canopy for landing configuration. What canopy was he using? Was that a Katana?
  13. 1000-1100m is usually used for 3-5 sec freefall jumps for student here. I could not see any canopy opening before those guy got out of site of the camera. It is a bit disturbing.
  14. Check the alitmeter around 1:12. It shows ~1050m. That is not a real freefall altitude.
  15. Like what? Landing is landing. Keep wing in level Keep it flying - do not stall It would be better to know the minimum altitude required for full recovery....
  16. I have jumped accuracy canopies before I got my license. Does it count as a first hand experience?
  17. Sure. Consider 3 canopies eg. 220 sqft range, made from low cfm material. Let it be an accuracy, a CRW and an all-around. Land them in the sink-in way. Your legs can tell the difference. I guess this way size is out of question.
  18. RSL is available for all rigs nowadays. Skyhook is just for some and mostly can be got as ordering a new H/C.
  19. True. But if you order Slinks, those little caps are in the package.
  20. It's a bit unsettling for me to read that statement from a jumper with your posted experience level. Not everyone is jumping accuracy canopies these days. I got lots of jump as a student. I just don't want to jump those anymore.
