  1. Take it easy! There are countries even without D license test. I was told that there is no stupid question. Check if your leg straps are equally tight and that is not always equally long. That can cause a light harness turn.
  2. Is the theory of wing load a part of any D license exam?
  3. I did try that to. It does not really matter with a slippery beast.
  4. I have one in my history. I had less than 4 hours sleep for 2 nights in a row. It was jump #32, a 2000m jump. I had a clean opening. I saw something wrong or unusual and I cut it away. I had not seen a reserve before. I had my first ride on PZ-81, triangular reserve. It is a steerable reserve, but I failed to find the toggles. It has a single risers and grey toggles on grey risers. I almost landed on a raw of trees, but I used mind control to steer it. My instructor asked what was wrong and I did cut it away after 1 minutes of flight. I got grounded until the end of season. It was end of season for me anyway. Lessons learnt: -get enough rest, do not jump if you are zombi -know your equipment I had 2 total, high speed mal next season, so that first experience was a kindda handy.
  5. Can you tell me what is your rate of decent under canopy? How would you notice that you going down with 2-3 times faster than you used to? I could not asnwer these questions before I have stared using a Neptune.
  6. Almost. Putting a soft carpet under a new(ish) canopy helps on bagging a lot. They can be set from silicone.
  7. Well, I did it alone : [url "http://spidernest.ath.cx/gallery/packing2006" ]here[url]
  8. It could be so many dead man walking among us and jumping accuracy or BASE with low WL.
  9. So, do we have the next advocate for round reserve? Round reserves cause more problem than they solve. Do your search. You scenario describes how situation gets worst after each bad decision. You should open high enough to get your controllability check done and if its look bad and you have doubts get rid of the bitch. I was told that you can fix one fault in this sport. But the next one will most probably kill you, and if not the 3rd will finish you. I did use my reserve before and I do not hesitate to use it any time I feel so.
  10. I guess its just a question of money. You might get almost anything for $$$ in Russia.
  11. Years maybe? Small market, slow return of investment...
  12. What do you expect? Some miniDV tapes are advertised with brighter colors .
  13. Canopies do not really plane out on flare under WL 1.0. If you use the same technique that you used with F111 you might pop 2-4m meters up and fall down or even stall on flare. It is hard to accept that flaring to around shoulder level would be enough to make your ZP canopy plane out. I had about 80 jumps on F111 canopies and about 60-80 on PD Navigators(hybrid) 280-260-220. It was a leap of faith to jump a Merit170. I can remember my first jump. There were some nice wind and It went so fast I just got on the ground on my feet. On the next jump I was on my face because I put my feet down to early.. Don't worry too much, just choose the conditions wisely. I'd rather try a smaller canopy in a nice windy day than a no-wind or a day with turbulent winds. I did try a Vison 132 on a turbulent day when some experienced RW jumpers were watching the test dummies landings. I got a grass stain only.
  14. Everyone makes mistakes by learning how to fly. WL might make a difference between a torn trousers, scratches and an open fracture. You will not believe that can happen to you unless it happens one day. Broken wings heal long.
  15. I don't design canopies. Those who design might not share here.
  16. Which company wants to have an in-house competition? Which company wants to kill the milk-cow? I would ask why Artech waited with Speed-Cypres until the first dead due to a misfire?
  17. Its good to have an altimeter operating without battery. I use a Neptun nowadays, but I have my Saffire in my bag and I even use both on some jumps.
  18. They are the best for free-fall. It takes less time to gain info from an analog.
  19. I've seen different kind of "sizing" problems with light persons. I don't think that anyone should have any business under an elliptical with WL 1.6. Even a square can be funny around WL 1.3, because harness turns. He has the rest of his life to try and fly canopies, but if something happens....
  20. AFAIK it has something to do with sizing, but it does not make it different in that case.
  21. There should be a reason why people with low experience even like you do not fly highly loaded elliptical canopies in most of the countries.
