Is a clipper 195 too big for a 5'4, 110 lbs person?
phoenixlpr replied to Honeybee's topic in Gear and Rigging
I'd rather choose an older ZP canopy over $500 than a low-cf with 350+. I had 30-40 jumps on a Maverick. It was acceptable, but you may find better easily. You might get a nice, good, cheap deal for a Sabre, Spectre, Triatlon..... 150. -
angle of view of a typtical wide angle?

What is the angle of view of a typical(x.45) wide angle camera setup? Thank! -
Need canopy selection advice - leaving accuracy jumping
phoenixlpr replied to mircan's topic in Gear and Rigging
Pilot has low-cf ribs only. -
If he is looking for WS modification I suspect he is going to start jumping with WS. I have jumped a Cobalt at similar load, but not for the first time. It opened perfectly, but the thing you don't have under a quite loaded steep diving canopy is the time. I would not jump WS with a canopy loaded over 1.4 and not opening strait 99% of the time.

How hard is jumping when snow is on the ground?

This is the time when landing accuracy pays back really well. -
I.GOFAST Wingsuit Boogie and Competition Hungary 2007
phoenixlpr replied to Csaber's topic in Wing Suit Flying
Interesting boogie with an interesting registration form. [ url "http://www.kaposdz.hu/regadatlap-english.xls" ]Registrational data sheet(www.kaposdz.hu)[/url] Which looks to be the mirror translation of the Hungarian version . I hope organizers could sort this out and the registration of foreign jumpers would not depend of the goodwill of the oragnisers. -
How hard is jumping when snow is on the ground?
phoenixlpr replied to mnskydiver688's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Level of fun is depending on the thickness and quality of snow. What I have learnt is: - It never breaks if you expect that so you slide on your ass. - It will not support your weight if you hope for that so you will stuck and end up landing on your face. That might hurt your face and hurt your ego much. But its fun if you have enough clothes on and you don't feel cold. -
I'm ADD- Need Simplified Packing Tips!?!
phoenixlpr replied to somethinelse's topic in Gear and Rigging
Are we packing or drinking now? Or packing fun after beers? -
I would not consider a Katana WL 1.6+ a right choice of canopy for wingsuit flights.
-
It has RS232 port. So just put a PDA with serial port into your suite and log it with that.

Wow! Someone knows so much about flat packing. I have seen cool guys Pro-packing so fast the some flat-packing old-farts could pack 3 canopies while cool ones were dealing with a single. -
You have a really interesting choice of canopies for wing suit flight.
-
Nice work!
-
What do you think?
-
That might not be easy. They might accept if it would have its own battery and the pilot can turn it off if he feels himself in trouble....
-
Do you have some video about it? Thanks!

Canopy control by definition is not swooping
phoenixlpr replied to greybeard's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Sure. Now I have a concept when not to jump, soft and hard limits. -
GPS re-radiating antenna is an analog signal amplifier and repeater.

Signal repeater?

Canopy control by definition is not swooping
phoenixlpr replied to greybeard's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
If you define limit when someone brakes.... it could be the famous Calvin approach. I guess you have done things twice in one occasion: first and last in one try. I would call that as a true limit. Or it could be enough to see someone else doing that . -
Don't bother. It's an FAA stuff.
-
I'm not a rigger, but I can see why is that a big deal. In my point of view its just a legal-bureaucratic mambo-jumbo.
-
Hungarian rules: you can not be under the effect or after effect of any drug or alcohol if you want to jump. And drug includes medicine too.

I got my first jump in my burnt in tracking position. Is that better? My instructor had some little challenge to follow my dead brick trajectory...
