  1. Give up? Burn out? Injure? Die? I don't know data about AFF, but with SL training only 2-5% of students get skydiving license. Most of them giving up after the first jump.... USPA has these king of statistics. It is usually published in some skydiving magazine too. You have a significantly greater danger here: get addicted and spend all your spare money and free time on skydiving. Think again! This is not a thing dieing in, its living for...
  2. Have they died because of the impact of the collision? Not really.... They died, because of the low cut-away.
  3. Notice that Merit is not measured as PD's canopies. Its close the the "size 150". I had a Merit170 in my Vector V1-2. I use Pilot150 and Cobalt135 there. Cobalt 135 is really the smallest I can have there. Back to the original problem: 170-150-135-120, Using 4 sizes of canopies in one H/C. One end could be really tight, gourmets not on each other - thats a hell to pack and wears faster. The other end could be really loose: might not closing safely. E.g. if you push it the pin might fall out. . Manufacturers seems to pair the main and reserve canopies that way thet the reserve is less than equal in size of the the smallest main you can fit there.
  4. You might encode it with mplayer/mencoder. Google for right command line.
  5. It was you telling that, not me.
  6. Have you ever known what you are talking about when it comes to skydiving? Talk less, jump more. There's a reason we were born with 2 ears and 1 mouth. Educate more, bitch less. Oh, would please complete your profile too? I hope that Chris can help me to find that 6 cells I can find or count .
  7. Having a collision with a canopy can be softer than hitting a cliff, and the cliff might not try to steer away.
  8. You might find the best trackers among the BASE jumpers, they track for their life.
  9. Your answers are coming from here: High vizibility canopies
  10. Explaining the color red for a blind? Winds can be really strange.
  11. Do you some kind of cross-brace fixation???? Get a Radical, Cobalt or CompetitonCobalt from AtAir. 9(18) cell design and the load range is from 1.2-2.8(3). You can get a nice, soft, predictable opening and long swoops. After having 300-500 jumps on 1.8+ none would step between you and a cross-braced canopy.
  12. Every joke is a new for a newborn . I have started skydiving from an An-2.
  13. Don't worry to much about it. Being pretty is not the most important thing. That's enough if you have trust in your packjob and you don't make any major/fatal fault . I know a jumper, she can not pack her newish Sabre2 in 20-30 minutes, but nitpicking about everything...
  14. Someone should use binoculars and ground those persons not behaving properly in the traffic. Can it be more simple? Or if grounding is to strong term, not letting be manifested for awhile could do the trick.
  15. New vidiots starting with consumer camcorders, don't they?
  16. Let me help you. DCR-HC37E You might find NTSC version too somewhere. Its just a member of the HC3X family, no DV-IN or AV-IN. It looks like a limited version of the HC32. Seems good to go.
  17. It seems that not only HP canopies and higher WL , but also big turbine jumpships are part of the problem.
  18. I hope at least you know what you want to ask. If you land with a 180 degree hook, your setup is starting in the opposite direction of final of the normal landing pattern.
  19. I have a Pilot150, I use it for wingsuit jumps. So there only one size between my canopies. My Pilot flares very well .
  20. All made in China. The only difference is that label. I have bought after market battery for HC32E, better than the original.
  21. Try to use GPSUtility or EasyGPS! Or you can test that 2 USB-Serial converter with each other. All you need is a null-modem cable and HyperTerminal.
  22. Has it worked in any country where WL BSR is enforced?
