  3. what about wingsuit pilots, are they falling or flying? if you look at the oxford english definition then there are both. Flying - [sic] To move through the air by means of wings or winglike parts. Falling - [sic] To drop or come down freely under the influence of gravity. You dont have to be able to "go up" against gravity to be considered flying..... ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+

  7. First off, it's ironic that your Icon is a statue of Jesus. I Agree, although don’t you find it strange that nobody actually knows what Jesus looks like, there is only the common image that you recognized in my avatar. Ok, yes I have faith in the packers at my DZ, however unlike your god I can see them talk to them, and observe them. Which over time has allowed me to attribute a level of faith in their ability to pack a rig. Nor was it 4550000006. Of course, Hebrews, Muslims and Chinese all use their own calendars, so this is the year 2006 for only a relatively small fraction of the world. Ok I raised these points in another thread, but nobody in the god squad wanted to tackle them, perhaps you might, 1. There is no physical evidence to support a historical Jesus; no artifacts, dwelling, works of carpentry, or self-written manuscripts. All claims about Jesus derive from writings of other people. 2. There is no contemporary Roman record that shows Pontius Pilate executing a man named Jesus? 3. There is not a single contemporary writing that mentions Jesus 4. Comparative Religion shows that the story of Jesus already existed in numerous religions prior to the alleged time of Jesus. Chrishna, Horus, Orpheus, Bacchus, Osiris, Dionysus, Buddha, Apollo, Hercules, Adonis, Ormuzd, Mithras, Indra, Œdipus, Quetzalcoatle, etc. The motif of a Crucified Savior was already extant prior to the alleged time of Jesus. 5. Solar Mythology shows the story of Jesus is just an allegory for the sun passing through the Zodiac and the passage of the seasons of the year. Jesus travels throughout his one year ministry, and the description of his travels exactly match that of the sun traveling through the Zodiac during the year. Here we have the origin of the Jesus story. This common origin explains why all the stories of crucified saviors are essentially the same. 6. It's inconceivable that during the alleged time of Jesus no one bothered to write down anything about this most extraordinary person, yet we have nothing. Even the earliest Bible reference to Jesus dates to at least A.D. 64, and the first Gospel, the Gospel of Mark, dates to at least A.D. 70 (and probably to A.D. 170). 7. The fact that no history, sacred or profane,—that not one of the three hundred histories of that age,—makes the slightest allusion to Christ, or any of the miraculous incidents ingrafted into his life, certainly proves, with a cogency that no logic can overthrow, no sophistry can contradict, and no honest skepticism can resist, that there never was such a miraculously endowed being as his many orthodox disciples claim him to have been. ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+
  8. Don't you know... If you'd just read "The Bible", you'd be enlightened. Get with it. Failure to do so will PROVE to the world that you're scared and weak in your belief. ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+
  9. Let me ask you this, why has no one found any physical evidence? Is it because it doesn’t exist? Is God hiding it??? And if so why?? You continually rant about the bible as a smoking gun for your beliefs, but why haven’t you bothered to actually try and investigate the authenticity of it.. Consider that not a single historian, philosopher, scribe or follower who lived before or during the alleged time of Jesus ever mentions him! This alone should be ringing alarm bells!!!!! Again the fact that not only do we not know who wrote them, consider that none of the Gospels got written during the alleged life of Jesus, nor do the unknown authors make the claim to have met an earthly Jesus. Add to this that none of the original gospel manuscripts exist; we only have copies of copies… again in any rational persons mind alarm bells would be ringing!!!!! Any way As an experiment, imagine the Gospels without their titles. See if you can find out from the texts who wrote them; try to find their names. Again alarm bells ringing… Your heart and mind are closed to the possibility that you need Christ, as well as the demands He may put on you. Many people have been where you are now-- looking for reasons NOT to believe, looking for ammo to blow away the claims of Christ and the testimony of Christians-- and have stopped dead in their tracks to look honestly at why they had such animosity, and have sought out the evidence they thought didn't exist, and when confronted with it, were led to repentance and became followers of Christ. I've read two books by two different authors who set out to disprove the claims of Christ only to eventually embrace Him. I hope that your story ends as well. But as long as you are filled with such animosity, many of your questions seem quite insincere, except for the ones that will help you prove your case against my Savior. You know MB, I actually think I feel genuinely sorry for you; you seem incapable of viewing the world without your “God Glasses” on. My heart and mind are perfectly normal, and your right I don’t need god or Christ, Allah, Buddha, Zeus, Aphrodite or any other, and do you know what, neither do you. Again you are mistaken when you say that I look for reasons NOT to believe, far from it, I looked for reasons to believe and to date have found none, and that’s because there is NONE. You bewilderingly say “just read the OT or the NT” and expect that to be good enough!!! Imagine in 1000 years from now, a young child is reading some of JK Rowling’s books, why should they not believe that there used be a young wizard call Harry, who few around on a broomstick, because they have no way of disproving the story?? Why when difficult questions are asked do you simply avoid them?????? Why, 1. Is no physical evidence to support a historical Jesus; no artifacts, dwelling, works of carpentry, or self-written manuscripts. All claims about Jesus derive from writings of other people. 2. Is no contemporary Roman record that shows Pontius Pilate executing a man named Jesus? 3. Is not a single contemporary writing that mentions Jesus 4. Do Comparative Religion shows that the story of Jesus already existed in numerous religions prior to the alleged time of Jesus. Why are you unable to answer these questions????? You claimed 30 years of testing your faith, so in that time I can only assume you would have found these answers???? So where are they????? ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+
  10. MB Im not sure what you mean with your first comment, can you please explain? What is faith ? – Faith is Belief that does not rest on logical proof or material evidence What is Proof ? – Proof is The result or effect of evidence; the establishment or denial of a fact by evidence. What is Evidence ? – Evidence is A thing or things helpful in forming a conclusion or judgment What is Knowledge ? – Knowledge is The state or fact of knowing Right now, what’s your point????? ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+

  12. Sadly yet again you dance around the issue, the burden of proof most certainly is not on me, I am not the one making wild claims of a supernatural being who lived 2000 years ago, who was executed and rose from the dead to save us all… The burden of proof is on your shoulders. If I was to claim to that I have a friend who can levitate, it is not your responsibility to prove he cant, its mine to prove he can. You are the one making wild claims, and it is upto you to prove them, which you know as well as I do, that you can’t. So as we see time and time again you try to avoid the issue of proof, because you have none. Yet again you try to use hearsay and anecdotal evidence to back up you claims, yet again you dismiss that fact that there is no physical evidence to support a historical Jesus; no artefacts, dwelling, works of carpentry, or self-written manuscripts. All claims about Jesus derive from writings of other people. You tell me that all I need do is read the NT, but you still don’t seem to understand that the 4 gospels that tell the story of Jesus, where written 60 – 65 years after the alleged story, and by authors unknown, and in a different language. How does anyone possible begin to try and prove any authenticity to the stories????? You simply can’t, and you know this as well as I do.. 16. MB, spend 5mins searching the web for the origins of the 4 gospels, you will quickly find that they were written in Greek, some 60 – 65 years after the alleged life of Jesus, by authors unknown… As for my claim of “no evidence” I have to admit I am somewhat confused by your response, are you actually saying that despite the fact that it is common knowledge that there is no supporting physical evidence that can be linked to the story of Jesus, (this is why you need faith) you have some evidence, some physical evidence??? ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+

  18. Where do you get your information? Are you saying that this information is incorrect? First of all we all know that there is no physical evidence, otherwise I would be globally known, and no-doubt used a smoking gun by the Christians. So can we agree that there is no physical evidence? Do you know who wrote the Gospels? Considering the text being in Greek, not Aramaic, which rules out Matthew. Mark, Luke and John???? ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+
  19. MB, are you actually serious????? Let me ask you this, how many fictional books/stories have been written about characters in the Vietnam War… now I’m sure if you read these you will find that a lot of places, events and sometimes people verifiable, but still at the end of the day the bulk of the story is fiction…. You still are unable to deny the fact there is absolutely no physical evidence to support the story of Jesus. Also you are unable to deny that No human being knows who wrote a single line of the story of Jesus as written in the "The Gospel According to Matthew," "The Gospel According to Mark," "The Gospel According to Luke," and "The Gospel According to John." You still are unable to deny that Christ is supposed to have been a Jew, and his disciples are said to have been Jewish fishermen. His language, and the language of his followers must, therefore, have been Aramaic -- the popular language of Palestine in that age. But the Gospels are written in Greek…This proves that they were not written by Christ's disciples, or by any of the early Christians I'd challenge anyone believes the bible is not myth to read the book and then report back with evidence that it is not a myth. ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+

  22. The problem I have with this, is that we know Adam and Eve never existed, and I’m sure that you agree, so therefore the “original sin” never happened, and therefore Jesus came to earth, was tortured and died for, well nothing. to any sane person this is absurd??? Well yes, something at least… using my previous statement about Julius Caesar as an example, unlike the mythical Jesus Christ, we know what Caesar looked like and we have a complete history of his life. We have words written by Caesar himself and words written by both his friends and his enemies. Artefacts confirm his life and death, as do his successors. Caesar was an eyewitness to many of the events he describes in his commentaries. He wrote not for posterity but to have an immediate impact on the power players in Rome as he schemed to advance his own career. Now this can be said about most of the prominent figures though out our history, but why is this not the case for Jesus?? Ermmm NO… what you have is a book that by all definition is “Hearsay” & “Anecdotal”, and written many years after the actual events it details, and none it actually written by Jesus himself!!!!! The four Gospels of the New Testament -- Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. These Gospels, and these alone, tell the story of his life. Now we know absolutely nothing of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, apart from what is said of them in the Gospels. Moreover, the Gospels themselves do not claim to have been written by these men. They are not called "The Gospel of Matthew," or "The Gospel of Mark," but "The Gospel According to Matthew," "The Gospel According to Mark," "The Gospel According to Luke," and "The Gospel According to John." No human being knows who wrote a single line in one of these Gospel. Christ is supposed to have been a Jew, and his disciples are said to have been Jewish fishermen. His language, and the language of his followers must, therefore, have been Aramaic -- the popular language of Palestine in that age. But the Gospels are written in Greek -- every one of them. Nor were they translated from some other language. Every leading Christian scholar since Erasmus, four hundred years ago, has maintained that they were originally written in Greek. This proves that they were not written by Christ's disciples, or by any of the early Christians Care to elaborate on this?? Not really, I will be going to the same place as you and every other person on this planet when I die, and guess what its not heaven…. Unlike you Paj I can except this and don’t need an ancient myth to give me false hope of a glorious afterlife… ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+
  23. Can you explain the "original sin" idea? Actually whilst your at it, could you tackle this??? 1Why is there no physical evidence to support a historical Jesus; no artefacts, dwelling, works of carpentry, or self-written manuscripts. Why do all claims about Jesus derive from writings of other people? everyone else seems to be avoiding it??? ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+
  24. Who are the “experts” ?? Time and time again it seems that once the conversation wanders outside the realms of you belief system, to an area the puts doubt on it, you pull away and chose to hide, instead of discussing a topic that might mean adjusting your belief. The main intolerance on this thread seems to be your lack of tolerance to discuss subjects that cast doubt over your beliefs I answered this question quite clearly Here ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+
  25. From a previous response of yours, [sic] I am not sure at all where you "learned" that it was not o.k to question matters of spirituality. I've been taught the opposite; ask, ask, ask...and then ask some more. Discuss, debate, define, repeat. And then ask more about what you learned from the first asking. So in your own words you were “taught” to ask questions, and discuss, debate and define.. Which is what we are trying to do here. However to seems that you are only able to apply this methodology to questioning that is in support of your belief, the same as Paj and MB. Any line of debate that does not automatically assume there is a all powerful sky god, is dismissed and called, mocking, trite, silly etc etc This was my original point that the problem with the mass religions is that they may teach that you should ask questions, but those questions do not fall outside of the belief system. This was perfectly illustrated by the questions that you raised. Now it was my assumption that to arrive at these questions, you would have had to answer the ones that I was raising, how can you ask, “Why does god love me” if first you have ascertained that this god person exists? And to do this you would no doubt have raised the same issues that I did… I have asked a few simple questions in this thread, and STILL neither you, Paj, MB nor any other believers on this forum seem to want to tackle them… So anyway it will narrow it down to 1 question, perhaps you can answer me this. 1Why is there no physical evidence to support a historical Jesus; no artefacts, dwelling, works of carpentry, or self-written manuscripts. Why do all claims about Jesus derive from writings of other people? ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+
