  3. Its a little hard to be sure from the picture, but are those slinks attached properlly??? With the metal ring, isn't the end of the slink is supposed to go through the ring before it goes over the ring..(does that make sense). In your picture it looks like the end of the slink has just been put over the ring, and not through it first.. ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+
  4. I call BS on this, what DZO would let you jump a Stilleto @ 1.4+ with 100 jumps... and besides what canopy coach of any credabilty would recommend it.. Now dont get me wrong, I couldn't care less what you deside to do, and what canopy you fly, but dude you have no business flying that canopy, but hey there your bones, and its your call.. Tell you what when you get your stilleto come to Picton, we have some excellent canopy pilots, but just dont expect to be allowed to jump... just so its out there, my progression so far (approx).. Student 240 @ 0.6... 20 jumps Spectre 170 @ 0.9 .... 180 jumps (started to do 90s front riser turns, and dug myslef in, luckily nothing broken, but big lesson learnt) Sabre 150 @ 1.0 .... 140 Jumps (progressed 90s to 180s) Safire 134 @ 1.14 .... 200 Jumps (canopy I learnt to swoop, 180s to 270s surfin the turf) Safire 119 @ 1.3 .... 70 Jumps Safire 107 @ 1.42 ... 15 Jumps In january I will be ordering Crossfire 11 99 (1.55WL) when i will at least have another 100 jumps on my current canopy... I have had a bunch of canopy coaching, and recently spend a day with JC at Perris, which was awesome... ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+
  5. Things in my size have to be custom built. With the exception of you and Canuck, everyone's told me that the Crossfire 2 has significantly lower riser pressure than an equally sized Safire 2. I only have enough money for one new canopy. If I get the smaller Safire 2 and it retains the high riser pressure, then I'm in roughly the same boat, as I'm in now, of not progressing in a crucial area of my discipline. -Blind All im saying is that i have a lot of jumps on a Safire 134, 119 and 107 all of which have low front riser pressure. Thats why if you are experiencing high pressure then it is probably down to the shear size of your canopy... Now it would be nice if it was possible for you to demo a bunch of canopies, but thats seems unlikely, so what do you do. Risk buying a crossfire with the hope that pressure is less?? I dont know. your call... At what point do you find the riser pressure to high to hold??? can you do a 90 turn from full drive?? can you do a 180 from full drive?? what about from half brakes and full brakes?? ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+
  6. I just did a bunch of jumps recently on a Safire 2 107, and first off how nice are the openings, I thought I had a streamer at first it snivelled for that long.. Anyway as far as front riser pressure goes, That and my current Safire 119 has very light front riser presure. The one thing however with the safire is that it doesnt dive, as soon as you let off those risers it will plane out. which means to maintain your speed for a swoop you have to come in on fronts all the way to almost 15 - 20 ft... Its more then likely it is the size of the canopy that is making the front riser pressure high, not the type. How do you find the front riser pressure when applying it from a full brakes, as apposed to a full speed?? Try going into full brakes, then as you release the brakes apply a front riser turn.... see how that goes ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+

  8. Not trying to divert from the subject here, but for this reason and others, I just roll my slider and stow it, and dont even bother to collapse it.. if you have a slider stow, then collasping the slider is pointless, as you just have those long old draw strings flapping around.. Also when you just collaspe and stow it, you still have the slider flapping away on the out side or the draw strings... rolling and stowing can illimate this... ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+

  10. Well im not an RW guy but FF, however what I tend to find is that as soon as im open im on my rears, and turning either 90 off jump run or further. once im happy im not flying up jump run I stow my slider, pop my brakes and loosen my chest strap. By the time this is all done i can always spot the groups out after me and before me.. Then its off back to the DZ ... ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+

  14. I was taught to fly with my legs and back, not my arms. In case I'd want to dock on someone. Thoughts? Sounds good in principle, I don’t think I have ever seen anyone sit fly with out some degree of arm input… How are you finding it??? Personally I feel that I still need my arms for balance and rotational control, aswell as my legs, however learning to use my just my upper arms frees up my lower arms to take docks… This is the how we were coached recently… and I find it works really well. ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+
  15. This is one of the docks that I have been working on recently as is it one of the compulsory docks for the nationals. The key to this and in fact any head up docking is your arm position. You see plenty of people flying with their arms straight out, to the side or slightly back (although if they are behind you then your upper body position needs sorting out) and with their arms in this position it makes it very hard to reach forward for docks. So you need to learn to fly with your elbows, and by this I mean you have your arms straight out to the sides, and you bend your elbow 90ish so that that your lower arms are facing forwards. It doesn’t actually take long to get used to this position and once you have then taking docks is simple as your hands are right there in front of you. The way to learn to double leg dock, is first take one grip then the other, do this a few times and once you are comfortable with the position then you can start taking both grips simultaneously. ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+
  16. Just a bit of advice... ref comparison.3.jpg The chap on the left has little control, is unstable and is trying to compensate for his upper body position with his arms. First thing to notice is that his chest is forward, this will be trying to drive him backwards, and to counteract this he has his arms pushed way out behind him. Second thing to notice is that his legs are very close together, which gives less stability.. Whether your legs are together or wide apart does not affect the amount of drag that they create, and therefore does not affect your speed. The width of your legs affects your stability, NOT your speed So the guy on the right needs to straighten his back, widen his stance and bring his arms forward. If you find yourself flying with your arms out behind you, then you need to look at your body position and work out why they are behind you, arms should be straight out to the side. Once in this position if he finds that he needs to speed up then he needs to straighten his legs slightly into more of a stand position, still keeping them nice and wide, not rolling up into a ball, so basically the opposite of what he is doing in this picture… Now the chap on the right, is looking good.. chest straight, legs nice and wide and all angles about 90. If this chap is trying to go slow then he needs to lowers his arms some more, basically have them no higher then his shoulders, and just straight out. You can effect your fall rate quite a lot by the angle of your arms, by raising your arms you will increase your fall rate.. Also a good thing to start to learn is to fly with your elbows. What I mean by this is put your arms straight out so they are parallel to the ground, then bend at the elbows so that your forearms are forward, and the angle between your upper and lower arm is 90. This will make docking a lot easier, for example imagine taking a double leg grip.. with your arms in the position there in at the moment this would be very hard to do…. For minor speed changes, simply moving your hands from being flat to an upward position will create less drag and speed you up or slow you down.. Hope this helps
  17. Okay, I'll bite. Without being too graphic, how do you get a horse to put his "pecker" in some guy's ass? 21. This was the response i posted to the same question, The best advice would be to get your hands on what ever software you can to start with, if you have XP then Moviemaker will be on there, if you’re running a Mac then iMovie. People will tell you to get Final Cut, Premiere, Vegas, Pinnacle, Ulead … the list goes on.. If you have the money then fine go out and by any one of these packages, but understand that it is not the software it’s the editor using it….. And a lot of what is said about these packages is just marketing hype… all these packages are consumer not professional grade, and will all do pretty much the same job…. Now if you are serious and want to make a living out of editing then you need to get to know Avid Xpress Pro, as this is the Industry Standard and without it you are unable to transpose your work upto a conventional motion picture edit environment. .. WindowsMovieMaker is as basic as it gets when it comes to editing packages, basically designed to be so simple anyone can open it and use it... and is pretty much limited to giving you the ability to cut footage together, add drop a audio track over the top.... What I suggest is download Avid Free DV This will give you the ability to play around with the audio levels, and the bet bit its free.... its still a basic program but alot better the WMM... if you want to spend money, then a good place to start is with Uleads Mediastudio, that basic package is VideoStudio $99, this is a marginal step up from the Avid free DV, and to be honest I would not bother. I would spend the extra $300 and get Mediastudio Pro , this will give you everyhting you will need to edit, composite and create DVD's... but is still aimed for the home user and therefore fairly easy to use.... There is no point spending the money on Buying mac and FCP at this stage, especially if you have just purchased a pc.. ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+
