1. Ok so I've just ordered a KA97, should I have just gone straight for a Velo instead? I was thinking about this recently, according to those who know and have flown both, the difference is minimal; several people at my DZ flew KA’s before moving to Velo’s and said they were surprised how similar the two were? So for someone who is going to but a KA, why would they not buy a Velo instead? ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+
2. What ever you believe the simple and undeniable fact at the end of day is neither I nor you or anyone here on this forum has or knows all the facts that surround the 9/11 attacks. So it really is a question of belief, and personal opinion… So with out all the information and facts how can you or anyone make a statement that these “scientist” are “goofy” or incorrect. Whether they are or not is a moot point because we will never know for sure. Without all the facts how can you make a decision? Simply put whether the attacks were and inside job or not, we just don’t know and probably never will in our lifetime. My personal belief on the matter is … I am undecided…. I haven’t been convinced either way yet. ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+
3. Dave, you shouldn’t have to “bump” anything to plane out. Whether rears or toggles it's a smooth application that you are looking for. Bumping sounds like you are digging yourself out of a corner. What I suspect is the reason that you plane out with out any input is that you are turning to high, and your not generating a great deal of speed. 300ft seems rather high for a 90, I 270 my stiletto 107 (@1.6) at 470ft, but hey I’m not a samurai expert. First and foremost get yourself a digital alti, and do a bunch of hop and pops, and perform 90, 180, 270 and 360s up high, perform them fast and snappy, and slow and carving, and actually find out how much altitude you burn, then you will have a base line to work from. So lets say for example that the most altitude that you can loose in a 90 is 100ft, and then start your turn at 200ft, first you know for a fact that at 200ft you are high enough that you cannot hit the ground in your turn. Then from there you can fine turn your initiation altitude. If say turning at 200ft still brings you out 100ft to high, bring it down a little and try the next turn from 190/180ft, and eventually you will work out the sweet spot. The same applies moving forward to 180s and 270s. You have to work out what is a safe altitude to start from, and then dial it in. And remember plan your turn so that you have outs, just because you are doing a 90,180,270 etc doesn’t mean that you have to complete it, if you start to come round in your turn and you notice you are low, or your not happy with the picture, then get off you fronts. ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+

6. That would be ideal, unfortunately here in Australia its almost impossible to get hold of demo canopies, unless you know someone who is jumping the canopy you are interested in, and will let you borrow it for a few jumps. ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+
7. Im currently flying a Stiletto 107 (about 1.5 / 1.6WL) I have about 50 jumps on it now, and Im thinking of getting rid of it. The main and really only reason is that im finding the recover arc on it is very short. I was hoping to have a progression from my previous canopy in terms of dive and recover, also my plan was that this would be the canopy that I transition to x-braced from. I was flying a Safire 119 previous to moving to the Stiletto and I must say that there is not much difference between the 2 canopies, of course the Stiletto flies faster and turns quicker. However when it comes to swooping I was pulling a 270 on the Safire at 450ft and on the Stiletto im turning it at 480ft, and I'm still on double fronts when I come out of the turn, to keep it diving.... admiteddly I am getting some good swoops, but then I was getting some good swoops under the Safire. My initial thought was to replace the Stiletto with a Katana as I have read and been told that it is basically a non x-braced Velo, and this would seem to fit with what im looking for in my next canopy. However I have heard mixed reviews about this canopy, poeple either love it or hate it, a mate of mine chopped his Katana 8 times in about 12 months, plus had whole bunch of problems with the lineset!!!! maybe he was just unlucky? So my question is what would be the best way forward? Do I look at a different canopy, am I underloading the Stiletto, is what I have described other peoples experience of the canopy? was I expecting to much from the Stiletto?? if I am to chance canopies would the Katana be the best choice? Thanks Oli ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+
8. Yeah my first canopy was a spectre 170, great canopy.. You could stick at least half a dozen line twist into it and it would still fly straight, giving you plenty of time to leisurely kick them out. ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+
9. How far back do you want to celebrate your heritage? Because interestingly if you go back far enough, your forefathers, forefathers, forefathers were African, and probably black, just the same as mine were, just the same as everyone’s were. Genetics has shown us that all Human races evolved in Africa two million years ago; they entered Europe and branched into Caucasoids one hundred and twenty thousand years ago and branched into Mongoloids fourty thousand years ago in Asia. ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+

11. riding your rears too long is a common problem. I had that problem also. there is a way to use your rears, but then get the chance to release them to full flight for a bit before you get to toggles. this is where the efficiency comes into play.. It would seem then this is exactly what im doing, I just dont seem to want to let go of my rears. ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+
12. Yes you are, but pulling down your rears at that moment creates even more drag. Sorry, that was a typo on my part.... ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+
13. What are the reasons that you move from rears to toggles whilst swooping? I don’t mean to dig yourself out, but once you’ve planed out and you’re dragging a toe across the pond. Are there any reasons not to simply finish your swoop on rears?? Because once you move to toggles are you not inducing additional drag, and therefore potentially reducing the length of your swoop? Is it Greg Windmiller that completely stops every time on rears? Anyway the reason I ask is that for at least the last 30/40 swoops or so, I’ve just ridden them out on rears with out using any toggle, (I haven’t run a single one out either) I haven’t purposely been aiming to stay on my rears, its just I haven’t felt the need to use any toggle. However I’m now thinking is this a good thing, or am I picking up a bad habit? ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+

15. If those were "the only posts JR makes", I could probably guess at better reasons than him having been molested in th U.K., yes. Go on then, what would your reasons be?? he clearly doesnt like the british or the UK, so he is just Xenophobic?? or is there another reason? ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+
16. Ok im curious, Im guessing that for the next 9 months or so, you will be praying for a healthy baby (and i honeslty hope that it is) But what if its turns out not to be, whos fault is that, yours? your gods? does it mean that he wasnt listening to your prayers? would it be the work of the devil??? will you just simply except it and say "owell its god will, nevermind" ??? ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+
17. Ah, more "accurate cynicysm" from broken. You're so damned good at that. Thanks I aim to please..... Although do I detect I hint of sarcasm in your post. Beside can you supply a better reason that the only posts that JR makes are directed at bashing the UK?????? “England: "Homicides Soar", “Scotland to Ban Swords”, England: "Rise in Muggings", “England: Gun Registration”, “England to ban Knifes”,” A Land Fit for Criminals” ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+
18. I believe her post was addressed to fellow believers on DZ.com. I knew it wouldn't be long before a cynic got nasty. I think George Bernard Shaw said it best: - “The power of accurate observation is commonly called cynicism by those who haven't got it.” ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+

20. First let me say congrats on the baby, I hope that it all goes smoothly, and I’m happy that your life is good at the moment… However if you want to remind people that your heavenly father has such an incredible amount of love for us, I suggest you don’t waste time posting this on a Internet forum, but perhaps head down to your local park, and tell some of the homeless people, then perhaps visit the local hospital and tell all the people that are in there dying from illness and disease. Why not visit the parents of some of troops that have lost their lives in Iraq, tell them about how much love your god has for them… What makes you so special that your god should choose you, when there are so many people far worse off then you are. Why doesn’t he do some awesome stuff for them??? ----------------------------------------------------------- --+ There are 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.. --+

22. News: Post ban to beat boredom A crackdown on the posting of pointless posts about guns laws in the UK has been launched as part of a campaign to tackle boredom and frustration. Moderator Billvon announced laws to ban such posts unless posted for legitimate reasons. Members making such posts will need a licence. The measures are the latest steps from Dropzone.com executives to curb the problem of pointless posts about guns laws in the UK. They come weeks after a nationwide post amnesty. A Total of 12,645 pointless posts, including ones on such topics as, “England: "Homicides Soar", “Scotland to Ban Swords”, England: "Rise in Muggings", “England: Gun Registration”, “England to ban Knifes”, “America: An Exceptional Nation” and “Gun-o-Phobes Take Another Hit” were all deleted during the five-week amnesty. Exemptions to the ban on pointless posts include posts that are to be used for intelligent debate, information, picture displays, freeflying, swooping and even Video and Photography. Mr Billvon said: “pointless post are all to prevalent in some Internet communities, particularly in North America/United States/Texas, and has cut short and scared too many young posters. “In these areas police, doctors, law-abiding citizens and even Christians have been bored by these posts about UK gun Laws. "It is simply far too easy at present for these posts to be posted and read." Other parts of the plan doubled the maximum ban for posting such dribble to 4 years, gave moderators the unconditional power to delete someone they suspect of making such a post and increased the minimum age for making a pointless about guns to 150.
