I was waiting for...."No, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night!!" Hehe....I said that to a customer the other day as I was elbow deep in there engine....followed it up by going...ohhh thats not good !!!! and tossing a small bracket over my shoulder......never never bother a mechanic when he/she is busy

I stay away from pricing out repairs at work...the cost of repairing cars scares even me ...average labour would be approx. 1.5 hours and the window regulator is a dealer part..so call them for part pricing....and again...I am only guessing what is wrong...the door panel needs to come off to properly diagnose the problem.... See if you and a friend can get the window up...then use our old friend Mr Duct tape
-
Hitting the door while opperating the switch is a good way to partionally diagnose a faulty motor...IE: push switch...nothing at all happens...hit door...window starts working....9 times out of 10...you will need a motor...... However Kelel's problem sounds much more like a regulator problem...and Hyndai's are know for regulator problems....I personally have replaced over 20 of then this past year.

Hehe...yes I am a Interprovincal Journeyman Class A Automotive tech....also a ASE Master mechanic...ASE Advanced Engine Performance Specialist..etc etc etc. I have 2.5 clues as to what I'm talking about...one day I hope to have 3 Edited to add: it does sound like the cable regulator has crapped out(thats anotehr tech term)...but without seeing it its only a edumacated guess...if the window working does not concern you...see if u can get it up...have one person use both hands to put upward pressure on the window while someone else works the switch....mostly up..but jogging it may also work..once its up..break out the duct tape baby ...mind you...fucking with it could make it worst

One cannot properly diagnose the problem without seeing it...but Elantra's usually use cable window regulators...over time the cable frays and eventually binds up....this is usually 1st noticed buy the window labouring to go up or down and a jerky type of movement... sometimes locking in place completely. For the window to fall down the guides by itself(without driver/passanger input)...could indicate that the window has come free from the plastic hooey bob(thingamajiggy) that attaches it to the regulator. the only way to know what happened and what is required to repair it is to have the door panel removed and have a looksee....its not rocket science but some mechanical ability is a good thing to have before attempting this. I love reading these car threads....the advise is always good for a few laughs Ohhhhh...hooey bob and thingamajig are valid terms

Okies....got my inserts made......my overall vision with them is not bad considering the angle of the inserts...my eyes are not all that bad though -2.50 each eye...but the wide bridge made it odd enough that I ran back from the plane to get my normal glasses and flexvision's before jumping sunday(I am stll getting used to my new canopy and did not want to risk landing with them)....I will wear them around the house this week to get used to them and hopefully jump them this coming sunday. Sofar for the price ($110 CAD) and my semi weak perscrption they seem like they will be ok.....durability is yet to be seen.

Cool/congrats.....can I have all your Canadian $$$ ?
-
What???...no mechanic yet??.....count me in
-
I started playing with them at about jump 5...but never really did much on the student manta 288's I was flying then......could get the canopy to turn but not by much. Now that I am flying my new Tri 175 @ 1.1:1.....weeeeeeeee.....although coming through 360 deg the riser pressure gets pretty fierce.....have managed to get about 540 deg before haveing the dive loops ripped from my grip Front riser sprials are required for the CSPA A CoP.
-
As far as I know...a A is a A eh. The USPA and CSPA are on the same page with licenses...minus the CSPA solo.
-
Yes...hopefully
-
they snap(fit) into the goggle fine...my concern is the PD (pupil distance)....I have a fairley narrow PD which will put the lens center close to the inside edges of the Rx inserts...will talk to my eye doc tomorrow about it.
-
Okies...got mine today... Not the most durable looking things...foam looks quite lacking...but the fit on my narrow face isnt too bad....the Rx inserts have quite a wide nose bridge gap...which concerns me a little....will have to see how they work out once i get the lens made. craichead and sdctlc...how are yours? have you tried them with the Rx lens yet? I will get the lens ordered tomorrow and hopefully jump them soon...will update from there.
