There are soooo many camera's out there for the point and shoot crowd (that includes me) Pick a camera with decient mp .......at least 3x optical zoom.....keep in mind the type of batteries it takes.......special battery packs can be quite expensive to keep a second set handy...where as a good rechargable set of AA's(NiMH) are not(digital camera's eat alkline batteries) overly expensive and last fairly long(dependant on the camera).......you also have to look at the cost of memory cards....CF and SD seem to be the most common and resonably priced right now... Stick with a well know name....get a camera that takes AA's and uses one of the more common memory card formats....and dont forget the optical zoom. thats all the newbie advise I have to give..me being the newbie

Check out this site.....oodles of info. www.dpreview.com Rev......sorry but cant agree with you on the everybody needs a 5.0 mp camera or higher....sure the more the better....but most people are not going to be printing off poster sized pictures......I have a Canon S1 IS 3.2 mp and it suits my needs just fine....One thing I will say is ...the more optical zoom the better......digital zoom sucks unless your in the 8.0 mp range.

Learning Q here..... How far past the loop does the yellow cutaway cable extend on your rig? Does the cutaway cable form to the contour of a rig after time? Sorry for the newb Q's but I just got my new rig and when the risers are disconnected....those yellow cutaway cables stick up......way up..unless of course tucked under the riser flaps.

Very much agreed. What.....your not gona post your SSN and mothers maiden name now??? damn My intent was not to insult nor acuse you of bad advise..actually....I've seen nothing to call BS on you.....but some point of referance for experiance is nice to know....I do believe thats what Sparky was getting at........are you a intellegent 100 jump wonder....or a seasoned vet? The Q still stands......what is your experiance level?? BTW...a powered parachute is a completely different beast........there are similarities for sure(I've never flow one but would love to)....but again...completly different in many aspects....I do believe they are closer to a paraglider then a parachute. Sorry for the thread hijack

My experience flying lightly loaded canopies in windy conditions. What part of it do you feel is in error? Or are you implying I don't have any experience? His Q is valid.......I have experiance flying lighty loaded canopies in windy conditions also....but as you look to the left at my jump numbers......you will see that I have very few jumps and am not qualified to give advise(even though I do at times )....but having my REAL numbers posted tells people to take anything I say with a grain of salt.

Bah....you pack it you jump it Hopefully the beginner will be properly supervised before being allowed to jump it or put the rig on someone elses back ....I have no problems with jumping a rig packed by someone learning to pack....as they are closely supervised at my home DZ. Why dont you ask a instructor if you can watch and learn packing from them.....I am presently learning how to pro pack (finally got my own gear
-
There's a bit more to the "solo" requirements then Rob mentioned.... To my knowlage you can get your A Cop on student gear.....but that will depend on the DZ and there policy on who can pack student gear....I have my main packing endorsment but am still learning how to pro pack(have been flat packing student gear for years) Solo lic jumpers can only jump with a coach 2 for RW work

So where else would you go to get advise on "pimping out" a Skoda other than DZ.com..... I'm thinking of the classic dingle balls and maybe carpeting the dash
