  1. WTF were you smoking to end up with a French braid in your hair? Smokin' I could have survived mentally intact...however Bushwackers at the Floribama bar did me in and the manifest biotch did it to me sometime after I lost conciousness and before I stumbled off to bed. Oh, Bushwackers at the Florabama, I knew there had to be a perfectly normal explanation. The older I get the less I care who I piss off.

  3. Goddamn thing doesn't go back as far as my birthday.
  4. You're freaking kidding?! That's tragic and cool all at the same time! Man I bet that makes eating healthier much easier.

    mole mania

I have a cat that lives in my barn and so far this year I've seen him kill and eat about 20 of the bastards. So far, the yard is mole free. The older I get the less I care who I piss off.
  6. Three years ago I lost my sense of smell and taste as a result of using Zicam cold remedy so I sued them. Today I got my settlement money $$$$.
  7. The other rig is a Swift system. The older I get the less I care who I piss off.
  8. Salt mine, for real? Good career move not getting that. The older I get the less I care who I piss off.
  9. I knew those folks, jumped there in 77-79 some. Wasn't there then, but it sounds reasonable. Lots and lots of open fields (well, except for AJ Foyt's ranch with its cattle pond). There's probably a subdivision there now. The same folks also approved someone to start jumping his new Stratostar in 1975 with less than 100 jumps. Light guy, had been doing well. He continued to do well. I made a lot of my student freefalls at the predecessor DZ (it'd had to move because of encroaching construction). It was a well-run club before they moved out to Spring Creek. Wendy W. Wendy, wasn't the drop zone you refer to as Spring Creed in Hinckley or something similar to Hinckley? Went to a meet there in the early 80s. I know it was clise to A.J. Foyt's ranch and might I add, what a ranch that man has. The older I get the less I care who I piss off.
  10. Just depended on the DZ and who you knew then. I went from a Pap to a modified 7 cell Flyer for my first square jump when I had 28 jumps. I had an A license but that didn't seem to be a factor in my getting to jump the square. Went straight from A license to D with the "minimum" number of jumps. 11. Damn Tom Petty and Freefallin'!!! This song just begged to have a skydiving theme for the video so what do they do, use skateboarding as the theme. Damn him to Hell. The older I get the less I care who I piss off.
  12. Even though Point Break sucked, it sure did increase a lot of DZ's income level for about two months after it was released. Most of the students, particularly tandem students, said Point Break was the sole reason they finally decided to try skydiving. Didn't notice that much of an increase in student activity with the release of any other skydiving related movie. The older I get the less I care who I piss off.
  13. Reminds me of the time I was using a hand held baton type smoke generator which didn't ignite when I pulled the ring on the step of a 182. Didn't want to be hasseled with it during the jump so I tossed it back in the aircraft and exited. Right after exit I thought "you dumbass, what if it ignites in the plane". Fortunately, the smoke was indeed a dud and nothing disastrous occured. After the demo, I saw the pilot and he had similar thoughts to mine that he let me know about in very strong and vulgar language. The older I get the less I care who I piss off.
  14. Something like the town closest to our farm (Cunningham, KY), 360 people, FOUR churches and one general store/gas station. However, there are two drop zones within a 30 minute drive. The older I get the less I care who I piss off.
  15. Lawrocket, which scene in "Man Bites Dog" are you refering to? Been so long since I saw it, the only one that comes to mind is the killing of the grandma. The older I get the less I care who I piss off.
  16. Things like that have helped in the past but this is something else. Maybe I should get a wingsuit... Now you've hit upon a plan. If I ever got back into serious, every weekend jumping, that's what would do the trick.
  17. I did and thanks soooooo much. I belive that's the night we got QUITE A FEW jumpers and a pilot in the 182 for night jumps and everybody lived. The older I get the less I care who I piss off.
  18. Russ, speaking of Decatur, do you remember the day we spent at "Bluebonnet"? The older I get the less I care who I piss off.
  19. Doc, last time I saw Larry, he'd trimmed down pretty good. I'm going to Dallas tomorrow and plan on dropping in at his DZ in Caddo Mills on Sasturday to say hi. I'll give you a report on him when I return. The older I get the less I care who I piss off.
  20. Those students with Bobby in the first picture look like Bobby Potter and Bryce Willing but who knows, their names are probably lost to history. Didn't Tadgett take off with the tow bar still attached to the aircraft? The older I get the less I care who I piss off.
  21. That is a nice hike... It's awesome! *** Try it at night in the rain! Damn Airtwardo, same thing happened to me on Bright Angel but on top of that, the batteries in the only flashlight we had died about 300 ft below the rim on the climb out. Lisa, come on, get back in the air. When I started, even though I thought skydiving was great fun, it took me 19 jumps before I got over being mortally frightened of jumping and questioning my sanity for continuing. After that point, the learning became quite a bit easier and the jumps way more fun. Good luck. The older I get the less I care who I piss off.
  22. 1967, $25.00 FJC Cedar Hills, TX. Didn't teach cutaways but for that price, I wouldn't teach them either. The older I get the less I care who I piss off.
  23. Didn't know Bruce other than the times he brought his plane to Aero Country in the Dallas area. That's the only time I ever a Twin Beech started by hand proping. That didn't give us much confidence in the condition of the aircraft but what the Hell, it beat a C-182 and we had parachutes on if something bad happened. The older I get the less I care who I piss off.
  24. I knew Leroy but only met him through John Mitchell after John moved to Dallas. 64G is still flying jumpers today at a DZ in Caddo Mills, TX. The last time I saw it, it still had the Circle M logo on the rear bulkhead. The older I get the less I care who I piss off.
  25. Went to a boogie at old Spaceland and had just bought a used rig without a reserve to use as a second rig with the intention of having my spare reserve installed when I got to the DZ. None of the staff riggers wanted to take the time away from the boogie to install it for me so I got Mike Perna, a newly rated rigger, to do the installation (first live installation/pack job, outside, on a packing mat). To add more drama to an already uncomfortable situation, Mike had to use speed links to connect the reserve in the rig. As soon as he was finished, I took the rig up and of course, had a malfunction. You wouldn't believe what went through my mind between recognizing the problem and actually pulling the cut away handle. Anyway, the proceedure was flawless and I bought Mike TWO bottles of Chivas. The older I get the less I care who I piss off.
