Whats the fallrate of a pumpkin?
firstime replied to bch7773's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
OMG.. lets not share our conversations with the general public. LMAO. ps: throw one out and see if you can catch it!!! -
I got spanked once "big time" real hard. 1st: I didnt roll the nose enough, 1 or 2 turns. To compound this snafu, just before I deployed I rolled on my back (ass to earth) to check traffic, rolled back and dumped, I think the pack job and increased speed was a factor. Thats my guess. Sabre 190. Off heading sometimes but not slamming.

Good canopy control, I saw a video (cant recall) of a guy swooping a small (maybe 10' wide) winding canal He had to have traveled 2 or 300' about 3' from the water. That has to test ones skills big time.

Welcome to the sport, don't fret the age thingy, I started 2 yrs ago at 45. My son got me involved in this addictive sport. Keep us posted with your AFF or what ever program your doing. Blue Skies, be safe

***Interests: Low pulls, low turns, & low points. =P Hmmm!! You need to amend your profile pal. Loose lips sink big ships.

Does the Sabre 2 (NOT SABRE 1) have a safety problem on openings?
firstime replied to tdog's topic in Safety and Training
Ditto, same canopy, 190 sabre II soft openings but off heading most times but I think it's my body position -

*** I'm sure he has no clue (obviously) who I am, or the influence he had on my life. But I sure as hell remember him. If you jumped with Stanley @ the Ranch, he would remember you. I met him 3 years after my 1st tandem and he knew my name and my last name. It totally freaked me out, Stanley is one super guy and a super talented skydiver.

Thank God I got divorced before I started because I would be now if not. My last Girlfriend gave me the "skydiving or me". thingy. I am sure we all know the answer to that one!!
-
I had the same issues, I then got a video and it corrected me on the next jump and every one after that. Good luck brother..
-
it's cool dude,I did a nekkid jump today, I still have all my apendages, :) I still aint doing it!!!
-
I dont mind the pie thingy, which might be in a week or so but I aint doing the nekked thingy. Afraid I might not have that thingy when I get down.
-
good point, I have said and will say it again "the more I sydive the more complex it becomes" therefore there is only so much you can tell a student before they go into "overload". As a student I was on mission to finish my AFF($) Now it's a whole different ball game. As for a video with a face plant.. I am all for it, but not with a student but maybe a guy like myself approaching that 100 jump syndrome when we think we have our shit together. NOT!!!!
-
***Onething I will say, I was NEVER taught what a FLAT TURN was as a student.... I think more emphasis should be put on them!!! Good Point Chris and come to think of it, I never did a flat turn until I did Scott Millers class this year. It was not taught in my AFF

trying to decide which way to learn...
firstime replied to jaykay96's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
talk to your coaches, flat turns while low can save your life. This is a great place for getting great advice but you still need to team this forum along with your coaches for an informed decision. The majority of the ppl in this forum are very informed via experence and are willing to share their knowledge, I have rec'd some great advice here, then shared these words with my coaches and 99.9% these forums were correct. Your coach knows you and the way you fly. Be smart, listen and be observant and you will be fine. PS: this sport is not just fun but it will make you a different person in everyday life. -
***There may be competition between DZs on one level, but there tends to be cooperation on an operational basis. Even if two DZs are competing fiercely for business, my experience is that the word of the S&TA at one is taken seriously by the other. If a call comes in regarding a questionable jumper, information provided that they are an incident waiting to happen is taken seriously. Well said.. and hope it will always remain that way

***How many minutes of freefall do you have so far: under 4 minutes? Did you learn to drive a car in 4 minutes? LMAO, but a very good statement It makes most of us newbie's say "mmm" ya gotta point!!

A gIG FAT "O". I have one (cypressII). I installed it for a reason (insurance). If it works when I need it then thats why I have it,... if it doesnt then its fate. -
attn: all new jumpers - fun stuff to try out
firstime replied to brits17's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
did it once unintentional and yeah it was a trip but it scared the shit out me because of the amount of air traffic @ our DZ. When I was in the thick of it I felt like time stopped and Rod Sterling was to narrate the next 5 seconds. Whew -
how do u think skydiving as a profession
firstime replied to Deleted's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
this thread couldnt have come at a better time. My boss is closing shop to retire @ years end, and with severance & unempolyment my thought was " I dont have to work for a least 6 months, I will jump my ass off and get some ratings, then do this for a living" My spur of the moment decision has been slapped in the face with a majority vote therefore I will go for my D so I can do beach jumps and maintain my weekend warrior status. What woke me up was Dangles statement that when it becomes a chore he will leave. Seems to be a thin line that I dont want to approach........
