I live in a skyrise in downtown Los Angeles about 1.5 hours away. You can always stay in the bunkhouse or camp at Elsinore. Friday has a happy hour from 2-4 pm $12.00 jumps!
-
Elsinore, my home DZ...come on down, y'all!
-
You rock, too. We need to video the jump in Eloy.
-
Perhaps, I can get the tugboat. Sorry, Roy and Lany, not trying to offend. I hope you know that. Friends, OK?
-
Finally after all these years, I will climb a little ... Kelli, my BF and his gear are not coming out to Eloy, so I will be going with only my gear, which is only my personal shoes, harness, caribiner and chalk bag. I hope that's OK. Also, my name is Vanillaskygirl, not Vanillaskychick.

PERSONAL ATTAAAAAAAAAAAACK!!!! No, it wasn't mean. I was thinking the same thing. Not that Tim's stupid, it was just an easy joke.

(Jerry Springer-like chanting) Eloy! Eloy! Eloy! Eloy! Eloy! Eloy! Eloy! Eloy!

Spanish for "pretty one".

OK. Gracias, linda! Edited: Pssst Shannon...he's making a jokie about "newspeople".

I want one. Edited: A toy plane, not a stupid person...

I agree with you. Everyone has been giving the original poster good advice about how to progress in this sport. Why is it "freaking out" if the more experienced skydivers are encouraging being more proficient at RW first and exploring all disciplines instead of limiting yourself to only one or two disciplines? Many of the BEST freeflyers out there, still occasionally do some more advanced RW jumps to keep all their skills polished. (It's just embarrassing to see freeflyers who can hardly fly on their bellies, and I have personally witnessed this.) Also, when I was in the Airspeed tunnel camp, I was told by tunnel staff in the know (as well as by a world-class visiting freeflyer) that the Airspeed guys can REALLY freefly, too! I was encouraged to try to freefly more because it will also help with my 4-way goals. Vice versa with more advanced RW if I am a freeflyer. The funny thing is that I initially thought that I was going to be freeflying only, so I ordered my custom-made Firefly freefly suit early on. At Jump 32, I learned the "mantis" and got a feel of what advanced RW can be by watching videos. I fell in love with the thought of doing 4-way. Freeflying does not have the same appeal for me, at the moment. Therefore, I never wear my freefly suit because I had to go buy another suit to do more serious RW in...a custom-made RW suit (Bev "Hot Bod"). However, I never say that buying my freefly suit was a waste of money. It will be used, someday. Everyone begins to fly on their belly in the "boxman", and we all progress to either more advanced RW or to freeflying, crew or whatever. The thing is that for some reason, some (not all) freeflyers think that belly flying is little more than what they learned in student status! It's so funny because it's a whole different world in belly flying when you have to actually turn in sequence, take grips, remain relative to each other and work as one. There is also a rhytmn that you have as you skydive, like playing music with your body. There are so many details to learn, then perfect in ANY discipline, that we could never learn it all. One discipline is not superior than the others, they are just different. Btw, I am only a 105 jump wonder, so take everything that I write with a grain of salt.

Funny, I was just asking Ed about your costume, yesterday. I went to Florida right before Halloween, so I never found out what you ended up doing, Lew.

Christmas Gifts for Skydivers?

Are these found on various links or is there one website where we can find all these things? My brothers need to know what I would like, so I thought that e-mailing them website(s) with a wish list would make their whuffo gift hunt for me much easier. (They do the same for me.) Thank you. Great gift ideas! -
That reminds me, Clint. Thank you for calling me on Thanksgiving. (That was you right?) It was such a sweet message.

LMAO!

You are dressed EXACTLY like Catholic school girl friends of mine did in high school for our Phys.Ed class on cold days. (Personally, in chilly weather, I always wore full-length sweat shirts and pants as I get cold easily.) If it works for you, then wear whatever is safe, warm and makes you happy.
-
True story...I went to a Catholic High School, as did my first ever boyfriend. One day, we were kissing, and he asked me to take off my shirt. I said, "No, I'm a good girl." He said,"Yes, Rosa, you're very, very good, but you'd be even BETTER without your shirt!"
-
Congrats! Early on, I also thought that I would be a freeflyer, but I fell in love with belly jumping when I learned the "mantis" position at jump 32.
-
I understand, Jeanne. If only we could split our fall rates in half. Mine to fall faster and yours to fall slower. You know, I still looooove and will pursue RW (4-way), but I also am inspired to learn to freefly. I want to be able to fly with all my friends, and since most of my sky friends freefly ... I know that you are sick with a flu bug, girl, so ((((((((((VIBES))))))))) for my tall friend.
-
Kris, you were so lovely and intelligent. It was such a pleasure meeting you, today.
-
I hope that you feel better soon. (((((((((((((((((VIBES))))))))))))))) and ((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))))))) Take care, OK?
