KSUPC Peggs Boogie 2008 - KANSAS TURBINE BOOGIE!!
Unstable replied to Unstable's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Isn't SDKC having a balloon boogie the same weekend? =========Shaun ========== -
I was in Texas visiting my now-ex for the Christmas break. She told me I couldn't drive my little Nissan with her out to dinner. "Men in Texas don't drive cars," she said. "You need to get a truck." I'm glad I'm outta that one... Well, I agree with a lot being said here. We need to use less gas! Why soccer moms feel they need a gigantic SUV to tot their tots around is a mystery to me. Why macho guys feel they need a big ass truck to substitute proper genitalia is a mystery to me. Gas is such an inelastic good that we see our weekly fillups of 30 gallons as an absolute necessity we can't go without... It's a mindset thing really IMHO. I bought a bike and I ride it everyday and let my nissan sit. I intend on riding it everyday to work. can't wait.

Sounds like the broad had a lot on her shoulders she was never able to get across to you and then decided to blame you for that. Sometimes I think Engineers (I speak for myself as well, I am one) put the effort to be overly logical, thinking that it's part of their persona. Big ocean theory. You'll find another (less Krazy) one....

Poor guys! I wonder if they could have gotten away with it if they would have just played it off cool instead of running.... "No Officer, I do this here every night!" =========Shaun ==========

That's what I love about the Good ol US of A! God bless the rednecks. Just when you think they've inbred the last braincell out, you see some engineering like this. =========Shaun ==========

I had a really farty day yesterday - but today my bowels seem to have calmed down. We were jumping and I kept gassing the airplane ALL the way up. But nobody smelled it. Neither did I. It was weird. I think it's a weird, surreal experience when you first hear your girlfriend fart in front of you. Dunno why... =========Shaun ==========

KSUPC Peggs Boogie 2008 - KANSAS TURBINE BOOGIE!!

How many 182's could you buy for the price of that car? Let's assume a used jump plane is $40,000.... -
:5:0 Pretty good weekend! I made 5 jumps; two were taking students up, two hop & hops after letting out SL students, and on jump all the way up. the means I'm still single, but I have a date friday night, so we'll see if it turns that frown upside down... =========Shaun ==========

To me, it looks like an old Student Hawk freebag. I know they changed their design a time or two, and that looks like the most contemporary design before they discontinued the model. =========Shaun ==========

:10:0 It was 60 load day! We turned 63 low loads with our Cessna for $10 a jump, and I managed to get on 10 of them. Not bad! I jumped my new Rig a lot, and I love my new Racer. As far as the for humps, I'm a little dry right now on the Action. I need to go and find myself a new girlfriend. That'll put a

KSUPC Peggs Boogie 2008 - KANSAS TURBINE BOOGIE!!

We're shooting for 30. That's kinda what we need if we want this thing to happen again.. =========Shaun ========== -
I think we'll get some good discussion right now on this thread - I have an interesting question and some observations. The economy is turning a bit on the downside, and yet skydiving is still growing. At our Dropzone, we've licensed 4 skydivers this year, and all of them have gone onto purchasing their first rigs! Some bought complete systems, and a few (mostly the ones with different body sizes and shapes) are having to piece them together. As a rigger at our DZ, I've been doing a lot of middle-manning on gear deals. Everyone - go to the "classified", click on "AAD's." You'll see the wanted requrests almost outweigh the overpriced few AAD's that are posted on there! Have the AAD manufacturers cut back on production numbers in order to keep their prices constant? Have used AAD's always been this hard to come buy? Do any of your have any advice on obtaining a good, safe, and reasonably priced AAD? =========Shaun ==========

I'm not going to vote for my home DZ, that would be pretty bias, don't ya think? And I'm not going to instantly go for the big turbine centers with weight rooms. Here are my personal favorites, and here is why. I would say that I've jumped at close to 30 different DZ's in the US. 1. Skydive Dallas. Reasons: It is a large, multi-Turbine DZ, which somehow still maintains the Midwest family-DZ feel. They have some of the cheapest turbine lifts in the US, and I know the DZO tries his hardest to keep skydivers in the air. Safe, knowledgeable staff, and the free bunk rooms are always nice. 2. Skydive Mesquite, NV Reasons: I don't know if they are currently a Turbine Operation, but each time I've been there they've had a couple different aircraft. Just a good feel, and the jumpers there do a good job of making everyone feel at home. The DZO does a good job of keeping the landing area safe, and on every load there is a discussion on the AC, involving all on the load, reminding everyone and reinforcing the landing pattern and policies. I like that. 3.Freefall Express, MT Vernon, MO Reasons: WHAT??!? That's not a full time Turbine DZ! That's not Eloy! Surely I made a mistake!!! Well, That Dropzone just feels like home. They fly their cessnas for everyone, Tandems, students, upjumpers, and their homegrown gang just welcomes everyone. The DZO and his wife are wonderful people, and What I like most about their DZ is their family feel. Last time I was there, the Lynn, the DZO's wife, was having all the skydiver draw easter bunnies all over the hangers deck. Safe landing area, and I know they try their best for skydivers. =========Shaun ==========

I'm a student, studying Industrial Engineering, and I'll escape w a Graduate Degree in about 2 years. In the summer, I work for Cessna Aircraft (You skydivers have probably never heard of them ) in Wichita Kansas. I do Industrial engineering stuff: Manufacturing the planes faster, safer, with less mistakes, redesigning production lines, floor space, ergonomics, et cetera. I love my job. =========Shaun ==========

We meet the plane at the end of the runway every load. We have a 3 man Pit Crew so fueling goes FAST. We gear up 10 minutes before the plane gets down. Try it! You can really have an awesome day of jumping with just one cessna, and your DZO will appreciate the efficiency! =========Shaun ========== -

I'm exhausted. I made some 10+ jumps, but I packed lots and lots. Ben Made 22 jumps, but he's still rivaled by Jimmy Coiner's 25 last year. =========Shaun ========== -
