Any Experience with a NEW Centarus container?
Unstable replied to Unstable's topic in Gear and Rigging
I looked on their web site and the current version seems to be the same design as mine, from the 90's. I got it when they first started designing them for smaller canopies, and I gave them some feedback on the design, some of which they used. The reserve has a top flap that tucks into a slot on the next flap, which is how many rigs are designed now. The main flap has a "walrus tooth" type closure. They made a larger "tooth" at my request so that it was more secure. Mine has never come open during any kind of skydiving. The riser cover tuck tabs have worked well too. Thanks Gary. Is it a durable rig? 1000 Denier Cordura? Does the harness flex with you? How does it feel on your back? Do you have the handles above or below the chest strap? Sorry for the Questions - but I appreciate the help. -

Any Experience with a NEW Centarus container?
Unstable replied to Unstable's topic in Gear and Rigging
I am looking to buy a new container here shortly for use as an accuracy rig, and I'm torn between another Racer2K3 and a Centarus. both are excellent containers which can be tailored to accuracy. Does anyone have any experience with a new or newer Centarus Container? The only one's I've seen were early 1990's... Does anyone have any pictures of a Centarus container, perhaps set up for Accuracy? Is this a comfortable rig? Durable? Any help would be appreciated... Thanks! =========Shaun ========== -
Alright everyone. My house - next week. "Mother Ship one boogie". $10 registration covers the BBQ. Lift tickets to 50,000' are $1,000,000, but only $900,000 if you buy in blocks of 20. =========Shaun ==========

This idea came to me a few weeks ago. We had a First jump student a while ago who broke her ankle on landing. Suprising video to watch, because it REALLY didn't look that bad at all...watching the video I'm suprised she even fell over, nevertheless break her ankle!! Either way, a few issues were raised a few weeks afterwards. A few EMS operators we have at our dropzone offered some pointers during our monthly staff meeting about how to handle situations like this.. Which begs the question.. Why doesn't USPA integrate basic First aid into their coach and instructor courses? Seems simple enough, especially when you consider the fact that when there is an incident, it is almost always the DZ staff to be first on scene and act as first responders.. Has this idea ever surfaced before? =========Shaun ==========

If you are a bigger guy, then IF you have the money, then there is nothing wrong with buying a a nnew container for your first rig. I help a lot of new jumpers at our dropzone buy their first rigs, and I say the same thing a lot of other riggers say.."There really are no Bad containers, just a lot of personal preferences" I can say right off the bat though, if comfort is a key issue in purchasing gear, then you would be very wise to consider a Racer container. You can order them in all black "Shadow Racer" for a fraction of the cost and IMHO they are arguably the best designed and most comforable rig on the market. =========Shaun ==========

What's the real deal on Argus Inspections
Unstable replied to chuckakers's topic in Gear and Rigging
Do we have any rough numbers what a 4-year is going to cost? =========Shaun ========== -
I gotta Say Trojan, and I mean this exactly how I say it, but comparitivly, the Argus really is putting on a good show. Frankly, I think it has balls to compete in a closed market where one AAD has had the market to itself since 1991, and comparitivly it's had a LOT less issues than some other new comers. I think people forget that Cypres has these issues too sometimes.... =========Shaun ==========

That's a real shame, it really is. I've seen several good companies go out of business in my neck of the woods, and it seems that the CEO's always ditched ship before they have to send their employees home empty-handed. How could a company just not pay their employees though? That just disturbes me. Does the CEO have immunity over employees suing over their last paycheck? =========Shaun ==========
