I think that was some BS Lucille Ball pulled when she was old and senile. MythBusters put an end to the Dental-filling-Radio myth. =========Shaun ==========

Skydiving: you screwed with my priorities in life ...
Unstable replied to c1sc0's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Yeah, now it's hard for me to find a girlfriends. Damn you skydiving!!! =========Shaun ========== -
That was certainly a possibility. I had a few of my friends listen too, and they all said they heard it. I think these were my real friends too. The other ones stopped coming around a few years back. =========Shaun ==========

I love that movie. Man, when the librarian jumped out at those guys, I wouldn't go in libraries for years!! Probably explains why I didn't catch up in reading until 6th grade.... =========Shaun ==========

Nope - they pick up the station when not plugged in at all as well. I have to hold it to my ears, but it's there! =========Shaun ==========

Hey Physics/audio buffs, Have you ever had a set of speakers with a resonant frequency attune to a local radio station? Ever had a ghost speaker? Do you know how to tweak em? So my favourite set of PC speakers is a pair I bought at the Mac store. Nice sounds, but both their speakers have resonant frequencies with a radio station. When they are just plugged in, they play 101.5 faintly in the background. When they are NOT turned on but plugged into the wall, I can hear them playing faintly as I fall asleep at night. When I play a CD while I am studying, it's quite distracting. Is there a way to de-haunt a set of speakers? =========Shaun ==========

KSUPC Peggs Boogie 2008 - KANSAS TURBINE BOOGIE!!
Unstable replied to Unstable's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Don't worry man, we'll take credit./debit cards. We tweaked and tuned the System and Account Andrew set up for us. We may need to tack on a few extra pennies for Tickets bought with CC, but that's pretty standard.. =========Shaun ========== -
I've found just by asking people at various Dropzones that those who regularly jump without and RSL rarely have, IMHO, any good reason to do so. A lot of the younger jumpers don't wear them because the cool kids don't wear them. I think RSL's are great. Well said. Try asking a few jumpers at the DZ why they don't wear an RSL. Can you confirm my hypothesis!??! =========Shaun ==========

How often do you replace your type 17 (mini) risers??
Unstable replied to pjc's topic in Gear and Rigging
I tell my rigging customers and friends at the DZ to think about changing theirs every 600 jumps or so. Also, I STRONGLY discourage from buying used risers, even to college kids putting their first rig together. A good set of new risers costs $85 - for a regular jumper who plans proper gear rotation, that shouldn't be a problem. =========Shaun ========== -
They defend our sport with the limited resources they have; The do what they can to give it a great name, and they've always treated me well. =========Shaun ==========

In a divorce, and all you care about is getting a new rig? =========Shaun ==========

Why I jumped a whole Season with a BASE rig from 13K ft...
Unstable replied to badlock's topic in Gear and Rigging
I'm a young rigger, so please excuse this comment if I need to brush up on my FAR's, but although a rigger can supervise and help a younin' along, signing off on his packjob for a trainee, isn't that a no-no? At least that's what the local dpre's teach... =========Shaun ========== -
Well, on the plus side, you could probably borrow one from a buddy or from the Dropzone! Or, well, you could buy them like everybody else....

A couple different things I can think of. 1. Brand Loyalty. Okay, not the best reason in the world, but it's the Truth. I have a few Jumpshack Shirts I wear with pride because they are my company. Part of it is brand arrogance, part of it I think is a desire to be a little different. 2. I usually buy a Jumping TShirt from dropzones, as long as they are original. The corny one's we've seen for years and years I'll never go for, but I have my Industrial Haze Tshirt, I have my Get lucky Boogie Tshirt, and I have my Couch Freaks shirt. I usually buy a Jumping Tshirt because I like to try to support the places I go to, and I know that TShirt Sales help. =========Shaun ==========

KSUPC Peggs Boogie 2008 - KANSAS TURBINE BOOGIE!!

All you need to do is bring your rig, a backpack with a change of clothes, and a toothbrush and ask John for a ride. Perhaps you could just tag along with da plane. =========Shaun ========== -
Smart move. Ever seen a copyright trap in a solutions manual? I have a student solutions manual for one of my engineering classes, and the stoopid thing is full of them: Intentional Errors or crazy methodology put in there just to nab those that copy straight out. What scares me is last week they booted 15 kids out of a 50-person class because they all had the wrong answer that was in the Manual. That just pisses me off - those things are there to HELP students with a problem WHEN they get stuck. I guess you just can't get stuck on the wrong problems.... I think that is the only time I think I can justify academic 'dishonesty'. =========Shaun ==========

Hilarious! I love lolcats.com. However, I kinda noticed out of those 24 pages, there are only about 5 pages of original pictures, the rest are the same pictures over and over again with different captions. Oh well, still funny anyways! =========Shaun ==========

I don't mean to haijack this thread, but I'd like to see the drag coefficients of the Reflex Coke-bottle-sized reserve pilot chute. =========Shaun ==========

Hang in there buddy, it get's better, I promise. It's okay to buy good, airworthy used gear. Make a rigger friend.

No, no tricks at all. Just a straight up question. BTW, what is the Statue of Limitations in the state you reside in?!? =========Shaun ==========

This is open for anyone who has ever been through High School or College. I'm hoping to keep in fun and anonymous, so only post if you are comfortable. This thread was brought on by a discussion I'm having with a DZ.comer over PM, we've got a wager on the outcomes if more than 50 people vote. Me? Unfortunately, I did a few times in High School. Well, I was a Freshman in High School taking General Physics I at a local University. I was 14 at the time, not really understanding the impact of what was happening, and I 'helped' a friend of mine with ADD along more than I should have. It makes me cringe the risk I took without even realizing it, and it took me a year or two after it to have the maturity to realize how stoopid I was. Now (almost over 8 years later) just makes me sick. Post anonymously your reply, I'm curious how this'll turn out! =========Shaun ==========

I made this same post before, but my point still stands. That show is stoopid. Here is my impression.. ---------------------------------------------------- Smash Lab Guy: "WHOAAAAHH! MAN!! HOLY COW!!" Smash Lab Girl #1: "SHIT! DID YOU SEE IT BLOW UP!" Smash Lab Girl #2: "YEAH! It was like in 100 pieces!" Smash Lab Guy: "THAT WAS SOOO TOTALLY COOL!" Smash Lab Girl #1: "YEAH, IT WAS SOO COOL WHEN IT BLEW UP!" Smash Lab Girl #2: "I LIKE BLOWING STUFF UP!!" Smash Lab Guy: "IT WAS LIKE, KA-BOOOM!!" Smash Lab Girl #1: "Man, blowing stuff up is hot. It makes me want to take my shirt off and wear tiny shorts!" Smash Lab Girl #2: "MEE TOO! Let's take our shirts off together and blow something up!" Smash Lab Guy: "It was like, KA-BOOM!!!! ---------------------------------------------- This is my take on the stoopid show. I like mythbusters. =========Shaun ==========
