If it's five months old definitely should be Spandura. I was at the factory in Dec 03 all the BOC's had it then. Search for Spandura. It's a super tough hybrid of spandex and cordura that will last a very long time. Relative Workshop is putting it on all their BOC. If you want really specific info, PM billbooth and he can give the elasticity ratings, amount of possible stretch, etc... Where did I ever say that this was given to the tandem passenger or that this was the perfect product? Dan asked for FF tandem and I'm not about to post photos or videos of drogueless tandem jumps sa it screws the tandem master. In a normal GK tandem, the tandem passenger selects his own music when he receives his DVD. This video happened to be edited by a Russian guy who likes that music (I don't like it either) Also, the tandem passenger gets to be interactive in his jump rather than watching the camera man fly in front of him and give thumbs up BTW the US tax payers paid for the jump not the tandem passenger. ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. A fatality doesn't only affect you and your family. It affects the DZ, the DZO (who will be asked why he allowed a very inexperienced jumper to have a camera), the sport in general, local people's attitudes about skydiving, as well as anyone who sees you burn in. Like devcloud mentioned, it doesn't take long to rack up 200 jumps. Nathan, If you come back to the Bragg area, you should hook up with the sport activities club. Greg (the guy who runs the riggers loft) has trained a ton of riggers. Even if you go ahead and get your ticket, you could have access every type of sewing machine, and access to about every rig out there (even the reflex, racer, tear-drop..) Plus Greg's got about 4000 reserve packs and has observed several more. There are about 5 other very experienced riggers that float in and out of the loft, so between all of them, you'll pick up some pretty good techniques to make your pack jobs look really good. Sure, Everything is different. Some guys really like high power long range, some people like extrememly precise .22 shooting, some people like sporting clays (to include the british royalty), some people only like handguns. For some people that particular gun is their fancy. If you're ever in a area where you can do some shooting, (besides the ghetto) give it a whirl. So when does everything have to be a useful tool?? There are a TON of people who don't like to hunt but like to shoot. It's recreational shooting. To put it in perspective, it's like saying the only canopy anyone should fly will be a MC-4. Small canopies are dangerous and who needs to attempt to injure themselves? Many switches come raw meaning you've got to provide the plug adapter. I also would completely agree with the 200 jump min before shooting video, for all the reasons that people mentioned. I know there have been people that got by with less than 200, BUT you're adding additional hazards. Ask people who do video for a living. 99% will agree with 200 jump min. Jake, that's not exactly true. I sold a sidwinder to a guy in Sept. HOWEVER it's more of a custom thing rather than a production helmet. If you don't have a Firewire port (IEEE1394), you'll have to get one of thoes. When I initially started doing video editing on a non-pro basis, I used Pinnacle Studio 7.0 (it was about $100 usd at the time) EXTREMELY easy to use. I also have used the .3 for about 700 FF jumps. There's no barrel distortion to speak of. There's a lot of good containers for freeflying. Porbably more that are good than are bad. IMO The Vector 3 and the Mirage have the best overall protection. (riser, bridle, reserve pin, etc...) The wings has an excellent Main pin protection. I have made over 1500 FF jumps on a javelin and if it's the one with the better riser coverage, updated reserve pin flap and bridle protection there's nothing wrong with it. Likewise the Rigging Innovations and the Infinity make good containers. The biggest thing you need to avoid is containers with velcro on any of the flaps / covers, or something that doesn't give you good riser protection. Just to make the guys cringe, on a military jump, several guys hit the trees after a bad spot. Anyways one of the guys didn't keep his legs together and ended up ripping his scrotum on a branch (luckily nothing came out) and had to go to Womack and have it stitched up. The rumor mill said he needed 16 stiches (he was in another unit). SO point being if you're going to land in the trees, keep you legs together!
