I would try to find a wired remote and splice into that rather than making your own adapter. my .02 ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. Hayes -

I think that is a wide angle, it's one of the lens that works similar to the video lens. Makes what ever you have X percentage wider. I agree, get a wide angle, The cheapest route is the Phoenix 19-35mm lens which is under $150 ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. No miss bonnie, I'm not calling you old, Just got some knowledge. And no you don't look fat in your jumpsuit, at least not when you were at summerfest. (I was with PMS Laurel when you were talking to her about her gear she had bought from you) ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. Not a problem at all. I completely understand, thus why I asked "can / will." Give her another big hug for all of us. D ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. Hayes -

Another issue happens when going from normal 7 /9 cell to X-braced. When I first demoed a couple a X-braced canopies, I went approx 30 sq ft smaller but it was still more pack vol than the stiletto I was then jumping. The first jump, I threw out, waited for the magical bliss of trying a new canopy, and nothing happend. I looked back, the container was open, but the D-bag was still in the container. I hit the side of the container, which fixed that. Point being there is more issues than just pain in the ass packing with going too big. The Manufacturers have a sizing chart for a reason. Stay pertty close to what they say. my .02 D ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. Hayes -

When I was at the Atlanta airport the other day and I saw that on CNN, and in the treck to my next gate, I saw this person who weighed no less than 350 (probably 5'2") holding two ice cream cones stuffing her face. Now how do you blame the industry. It's called SELF-CONTROL. That's about as stupid as blaming the music industry for hearing loss because the "music is too good to turn to a reasonable volume." I'm sure Quade, and PhillyKev will enjoy this thought "After Congress passed the Patriotic Slim People's Act, the Homeland Security Council has implemented the use of necessary force to keep people trim. Fines range from $250 to $10,000 depending on the amount of fat consumed in one sitting. " "HALT! Federal Food Marshal's Office, Sir, put you hands up and step away from the hamburger...." ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. Hayes -

First, I would talk to your instructors to see what they recommend. IF you're going to buy something used, HAVE the person send the rig to your DZO or stationary rigger's loft, or reputable gear store and have someone inspect it first. You give the middle man the money before it's sent, so the seller knows the money's there if the rig is represented as advertized. It might be better to save up a little more than 1k. It will be hard to buy something for that, but there are tons of good used rigs w/ cypres for about 2k. You'll be MUCH happier spending this extra money. For example I sell quite a bit of used gear for people (I own a small gear store) and I have a few used rigs in the shop. One is a 1997 dolphin, swift 145 reserve 1 jump, cypres 1997, and PD sabre1 150 main. It's actually in good shape where the guy wants about $2400 for all. I also have a 1988 Vector, Maveron main 1991, Raven reserve 1993, and no AAD for the bargin price of about $875. BIG BIG difference in what you would get as far as gear. As far as canopy size, something in the 190 range would be ok. But the elevation is going to make a difference. Don't be TOO anxious to downsize. At least do 50 some odd jumps on a 190ish canopy before downsizing. My advice is to look local first so you can see the gear and possibly test jump it before you commit to it. PM Skybytch and Gravitygirl (both also own a gear stores) and get their advice. They've been around for awhile. ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. Hayes -

However, according to the ETA leader, they had nothing to do with it and are not claiming responsibility. [ url "http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/3501364.stm" ] BBC REPORT [/url] Typically terrorists groups claim responsibility so their "cause" can be heard D ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. NOICE Looks like you got the skyhook. One word for it - Awesome (i got to test jump one) It's my rig of choice. My new one should be here in a month. D ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. Hayes -

You have a 75% chance that your position would not break or fail. When I was ground week, a kid hit the tower about 1/2 down. He was stuck up there for hours. Talk about making US nervous. ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. Hayes -

I guess TECHNICALLY the drops are base since it's an antenna...... That's the best PCA you'll ever get D ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. Hayes -

WHY do you say that. The towers were a hell of a rush. Especially since I had no freefall experience when I went. That 'd be one hell of a base jump. 250' free-stander. ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. Hayes -

As far as mounts are concerned I really don't think there's a better mount than what Bonehead makes. For either the side or top mount, I'd use a box. This will help protect from moisture, sand, and of course that elbow/foot that meets with your expensive investment. For the $170 that the box costs, it's worth every penny. Stong only has so many examiners, usually done somewhat by region. This way they can keep more control of who's giving ratings. My DZO (The Skydiving Place) is a Stong examiner, so if you're passing through NC he can give you the transition. NCjumpjunkie is his DZ.com name. Or call Strong and find out where the closest examiner is. ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. Hayes -

Depends on the jump. For normal FF (less than 5 way) 4500 break-off 3500 deploy 1500 do something stupid For larger FF formations it may be as high as 6000 for staging break-offs. If you're out last I'll bump up the 4500 -> 5000 the 3500 -> 4000. So you have a chance to get back to the DZ ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. Hayes -

I think this forum will be your best bet for skydiving comparisions. There are some things you must look at as far as deciding which camera. - What type of flying - What is the helmet - What do you want to spend - Will you want to add stills later First I'd stay with Sony since this has been the most reliable and used camera for skydiving. The TRV series is typically top mounted where the PC series are typically side mounted. The newer PC cameras are the 105, 109, & 330 The PC 105 is the small series but still good optics, the 109 has a docking bay (but not many people have used it), and the 330 is the large series but has REALLY high quality optics. The TRV-22 and 33 are good low end models but are able to be side mounted. The TRV-70 and 80 are the upper end top mount camera. The Oldest PC series is the PC-7, 1 , 5, & 10 The PC-9 is older but still a good camera, the PC 101 came out a few years ago but is very similar to the 105. I would make sure that you have a IE1394 port on which ever camera you buy, so that you firewire your video to other cameras or computers. Obviously you'll need a PAL format camera since you're in the UK. You'll be able to buy the 22, 33, and 105 on your budget since these run from about $570-$718. Just speaking out of experience, it would be a little better a little more than buy at the bottom. Spend the extra $100, you'll be happier down the road. Also be extremely careful buying used, or at least make sure the warranty is still valid, and will be serviced in the UK. PM someone like Quade, Deuce, vdschoor etc... and they'll be able to give you more in-depth details. ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J.
