Depends on what you're looking for. Jackson Hole, WY, Crested Butte, CO have some very good back country steep skiing. I think the best heli-skiing is in British Columbia. For the "vacation skiing" Vail, Aspen, Summit Country (brekenridge, copper mountain, ...) What I have always done is the have stingers leave around 5.5-6.5 and open higher, hangers drop around 4.5-5.5, and the belly formation burns it down to 2.5-3.5 before breaking. I have seen a few formations go all back flat first but that seems a pretty good potential for a zoo, if someone doesn't come up clean. Also having double grips is not necesarrily a must. I have done some jumps with four belly and two hangers, where the four ways breaks into two two ways and turn "points" with the hangers underneath. Probably a lot has to do with the "mental" and adrenaline rush and your body comming off the "high." Also most student rigs open like s$@t so that probably has a bit to do with it as well. I just returned a FT-50 for a customer,which had less than 100jumps on it since it would stick at different altitudes. The DZO even had a couple instructors jump it and they had the same problem. They would set it to 0' and on landing it would show 1500' My first altimeter was an FT-50 and it was always a several hundred ft off altitude. The galaxy is the cheapest model but also the most common. Fly Vertical and my store (for which I won't advertise in a post) sell them for $145. PM me if I can help you. However, I have seen more problems with the FT-50 compared to the Alti-2. The price isn't that different, the Alti-III Galaxy is anywhere from $135-155, the Ft-50 is anywhere from anywhere from $120-$145. You're probably looking at the Altimaster-II, which is the large altimeter and about $250, and what most students or accuracy jumpers wear. The one most people have on their wrist is the Galaxy. Plus the Galaxy has a glow in the dark face, which is pretty nice when you are ready for night jumps.. check out Alti-2 ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. The 1.7 conversion factor means that whatever mm lens you put on multiply it by 1.7 and that's what mm you'll get using 35mm film. i.e. 15mm lens on that camera will actually get you at 25.5mm compared to a 35mm film camera. ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. Do you have the Tru-lock toggles or another brand. I had it happen once on an old after-market set of risers but never had a problem on the Tru-locks or the original RWS risers. I don't think there's a design flaw at all with the rig. We did a 21-way at Summerfest (skydive Chicago) last year. 7 belly, 7 hangers, 7 stingers. It is ESSENTIAL to have good hangers, otherwise the jump will fail. Other than that it's just a normal big way with floaters, a base and divers. Stage the break-off stingers, hangers, belly. Like Trent and the guys at Spaceland, we also did a round. Get the belly round built quickly, hangers dock in-between belly fliers, and have one key-man for the hangers so everyone goes down at the same time. I had a hard opening on a Velocity which dislocated my ankle. Mainly from the whipping going through that instant 100+mph deceleration. Talk to guys who used to jump the first squares (without sliders) and hear how they could break ankles and wrists on openings. They come in feet and metric units. I'm trying to get one sent back as well for a customer and have had no luck contacting them. Before I went digital, I was using a homemade switch on a Minolta. I got a switch from Radio Shack and fixed it to the old hand remote that came with the camera. Just wondering if anyone has had some hands-on experience with this camera GS120 I've always been a Sony only camcorder person but this looks pretty interesting. If you've already got one Pro-Track, why not just go with a Pro-Dytter? It's a lot cheaper and do you really need two tracking units? I wear dytters in my helmet and a pro-track in my suit (it's more accurate there.) However I might lean toward the Neptune due to it being waterproof. If you ever do beach jumps it could be handy. Funny thing, for work I had to fly to Wildwood, NJ yesterday. It's still a pretty decent distance from the coast. Maybe not as far as Panama but it's still going to be a drive. At least there is a resturant at the Airport that should be open for summer. I don't understand where Destin, FL hasn't been a consideration for a PST stop. So are you talking about "Skydiver air speed" or "Ture Air Speed?" (on the pro-track) They seem to always be about 10mph apart. This might be a factor in the speed differences. Also if you wear it in your jumpsuit, you'll get a more accurate reading. however I do agree that somewhere between 155 & 165 is a good speed ______________________________________________ - Does this small canopy make my balls look big? - J. It has been a long time since I have felt a hurt like this. His legacy will go on. To Alexa, Bill, Dorthy, and Ruth, you are the center of our prayers and love. I feel so fortunate that I knew Paul and had the opportunity to jump with him. I will forever miss the times at the DZ that I spent with him. He has made a gigantic impact on so many people. Paul, you had the ability to bring joy to anyone around you. You will be sorely missed.
