BEER...

can't you help but think that sounds kind of mindless? Oh well, I'm probably just thinking about it too hard --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

BEER...

oh ok! That last response was a perfect answer to Jtval's query. I want to know why this is the way of things? When I participate in sports generally I like to push myself physically, beer makes me feel like a slob. That said, I don't mind a cold beer now and again though --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
3. you can set a number, but it all won't matter when you meet somebody and fall in love with them. Maybe they fall under your "acceptable" category and maybe they don't. Its all out the window by then though I generally consider people a few years older and a couple years younger than me in the eligible category though. But I keep my eyes open --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

BEER...

I'm honestly curious. It seems everybody at the DZ drinks beer, a gross exaggeration of the general public, from my experience. Whats the connection you think? From what I gather its the level of exertion that is placed upon the skydiver (youre out in the sun, sweating, hot, much like other sports), without a very high level of fitness required (unlike many sports). I guess thats why fat people can do OK skydiving, while they can't really be that great of a runner/swimmer/etc. You don't see that many people train all day swimming or running and then immediately after finishing grab a six pack and get drunk. One other angle I thought was the whole, "skydiving is so much more than a sport, its a lifestyle" thing you hear people say. Maybe drinking is just one more factor of "the lifestyle". What do you think? I'm pretty bored, and its raining. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
5. you didn't make an option "I want to take a canopy control class as soon as possible". --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
6. I think the whole point of his post is that the employment area in classifieds doesn't do a very good job of extremely temporary work (i.e. one weekend). --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
7. from what I gather he was talking about his sport but by saying "BASE parachutes" he was referring to RAM air parachutes. If anything I would say BASE parachutes are more sluggish (i.e. bigger) than the average pocket rocket crazy skydivers are flying these days.
8. babies are perhaps one of the most wonderful things on the planet. Ahh, that and puppies and freefall. Ahh, life. edited to add ***VIBES*** --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
9.
Had the amniotic fluid checked today. It is low so they are inducing at 6 am tomorrow!!
If its low instead of replacing it with the manufacturer's suggestion you can put a little bit of liquid soap and some water and go with that for a few days. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
10. whatever theyre making, half it, and I'll take their job! God being a stunt man would own. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
11.
It depends. Many kill lines dont have collor on.,dont make them worse by that but rember to besure its were it should be..
Let me get this straight, youre saying some collapsible pilot chutes dont change color through the "window" or that some collapsible pilot chutes just dont have a window to let you know that its cocked? --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
12. do you think your deployment altitude would be any different if you were jumping one of the more newer elliptical canopies? --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
13.
whew! I am glad I am not the only one not staring at my altimeter for 58 seconds.
I hope nobody does that. I do however, glance at my altimeter every 10 or so seconds, and glance at the ground to try to judge "what it looks like from this altitude". Granted I am at 17 jumps. Bill, at what experience level did you stop looking at your altimeter until a few moments before breakoff? I'm still developing my inner "clock". --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
14.
Personally, I like 2000, but that is me.
Out of curiousity, do you jump an elliptical canopy? --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
15. I think its a good idea. I have a plan that one day I can travel around working at DZs either packing, shooting video, whatever. That way I can meet a lot of new people/ see a lot of new DZs. Your idea would make a person like me have access to this type of thing. Just my opinion. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
16. hey its also nice to know that if you have a mal and cutaway you'll be under reserve a lot higher than you would if you had pulled at 1.8k. Thats sufficient time to safely and calmly choose an appropriate landing area. I agree just because you open high doesnt give you an excuse to mess around with the canopy. I hope my first mal I deal with calm, cool, and FAST, something I've been trying to train myself for ever since I started. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
17.
Canopies are more fun to fly.
For me this is a big reason. I wasnt around 10-20 years ago, but its obvious that the canopies of old were more functional/stoic than the canopies of young. The newer canopies (my generation I guess) are small, fast, and fun to fly. For me flying the canopy is the greatest part of skydiving, I like opening at 4k and getting a nice, fun ride. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
18. anybody that jumps with others while intoxicated deserves what he/she has thrown at them. That's just plain wrong in my book. Drinking is fine, AFTER the day of jumping. Oh, and you might have to buck up on the responsibility factor here and decide to take a half day/full day off if youre still wasted from partying too hard the night before. Its pretty simple, he should pay for being a dumbass. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
19.
I seriously went nutz just trying to find used gear that fit. I got my RW & FF suits both off Ebay for $50 each & I don’t care that they’re not in perfect condition. They both fit well (surprising since I’m 5’5” & 125 lbs) AND at least I had something to wear while I saved $ and decided what I wanted for a brand new suit. I just got my HotBod suit a few days ago & can’t wait to jump it but I’m REALLY glad I had the cheap one to start. Especially when I think of the thick mud that was all over it last week!
baa75 brought up a good point in my mind. If you buy an old beat up jumpsuit off ebay, because youre not sure what kind you should buy new, remember when youre ready to buy your brand spanking new jumpsuit you'll be able to resell your old one! These things don't really decrease much in value once they've reached a certain life. 150 jumps is pretty much the same thing as 250 jumps, on ebay. Keep that in mind! --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
20. im suprised of the responses. What if it was an obvious lineover, or something like that? I think I would be tempted to at least pay for half of the repack, as I would feel horrible about it. My question is what about packers at DZs that pack for tandem rigs, what if you pack a mal? What does the DZ expect/do in this situation? I want to get a job packing for my DZ and my nightmare is packing a mal on a tandem --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
21. hey I was struggling to find reason why only a 6-8 pound belt helped so much. I couldnt figure it out. I finally came to realize the extra weight added on is bonus with no additional drag. So being 5'7" and wearing weights that make you 135 youre going to fall much faster than someone who is 5'9" 135 pounds, theoretically, less surface area, etc. I think --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
22. doesnt BR make a big container, that fits like 325 or something? Maybe Im wrong and read they were planning on developing one like that... --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
23. Yeah! I know what you mean, especially when I first started skydiving. They are a lot cooler now, and I think will be even cooler once they get a chance to come out and visit the DZ and watch. Maybe sit down with them and seriously explain and discuss how much you love this sport and that without it you would be unhappy? Usually parents/loved ones will try to understand, if they know youre seriously trying to work through the problem. Just be mature about it and refrain from any comments like, "Well, I'm going to jump whether you like it or not, so you might as well accept it!!!!" --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
24.
There is simply no substitue for a usda prime angus steak. Red meat kix azz.
hell yeah, brother. Life would be scrawny and energy deprived without delicious red meat. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
