SL jumping

would looping JUST break cord and no sling be bad in someway I guess? The point of the sling is to do what? Distribute the weight evenly or some such? Sorry this may be a really dumb question --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

Airlocks ?

do you really think an elliptical canopy is appropriate for someone with 20 jumps I see multiple problems that come to the table for someone who doesn't have body position nailed down perfectly and wants to jump an elliptical canopy... --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

Airlocks ?

Are there any canopies that have airlocks that are directed at a more novice pilot, or are they all very fast elliptical designs? --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

6. the more you talk about it, the more I realize my chest strap does constrict me. I guess its not that important jumping a manta 290, with a non collapsible slider, non collapsible PC, but its a good thing to remember when I get my first canopy --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
7. Great job, man! I'm almost there too, teetering at 20 jumps, just need one more dock and a check dive! I bet it feels nice, huh? --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
8. what about sliding in on your side? I've seen a few people do this in a "high performance style". i.e. ending the swoop sliding in on the side of their leg, skidding to a stop. Comments on that? --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
9. I have a bias toward the BASE movies since I physicaly am in pain to start BASE jumping, but... My favorites: basebyblairyo smellkjerag00 trackingBASEjump --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

11. sometimes when I go through a bout of sleep disorder, which happens occasionally to me (sitting up in bed, talking, getting out of bed, sleep paralysis, sleeping light, you name it) I'll take a supplement called 5-htp, which is the direct precursor to 5-ht, or serotonin. Serotonin regulates sleep, and with this supplement, taken a half hour before sleep, it works wonders. If you take this supplement make sure to take a good strong multivitamen during the afternoon or so, because without it the 5-htp, turns into not serotonin, but tryptophan (the same chemical in turkey that makes you sleepy). Some of the chemical will turn into tryptophan but to maximize the effect take it with vitamen E. Its kind of strange actually, because tryptophan and serotonin both have kinda the same effect, both make you comfortably sleepy, but serotonin as you know if you have studied the most basic neurology is much much MUCH better!!!! Whew, too much to write in the morning --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
12. how effective is loosening the chest strap once it is already loosened to being somewhat slack? i.e. I have a very big chest strap for my size torso I can loosen it til it is slack but still have a lot of slack. Is this good enough? I assume this is for turns, when the risers pull in opposite directions, and the chest strap is the one inhibitor. Right? --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

14.
My only complaint, which I'm still investigating, is gusty crosswinds and turbulance.
I thought a smaller canopy of the same design will suffer from turbulence at a greater degree than the same canopy in a larger size? --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
15. My understanding of the locking stows, is that you want to make sure they are symetrical, and about 3-4 finger "bites". If you have a canopy that opens notoriously hard, is there anything you can do with the locking stows that will make it open softer, i.e. shorter bites or longer bites? What about the size of the rubber bands on the D-bag? Is there one size that manufacturer's recomend for their containers, or will having just one size for all the rubberbands suffice, as long as they hold sufficient tension on the lines, and they are all the same size? What is the purpose of doubling the rubber band on the line stows? Is this just to keep the lines held with a little more tension, so they wont slip out/become messy? Or does this have an effect on how hard the parachute opens? If so, how? Ok, thanks for listening to the barrage of questions --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
16.
US has mostly 3 to 600 foot objects. Take a couple seconds delay, toss the pilot chute, a couple seconds later should nothing actually happen .... should I continue?
Point taken
Proper gear checks to determine your equipment is in proper working condition is your best bet. Drill your emergency procedures several times before every jump, and Do-it-like-you-mean-it. Check all your handles before you leave the air craft. Thousands of jumps into my career I still do this.
I hope I am as non-complacent as you are at that many jumps. Well, thats wrong, I KNOW I will be as non-complacent, it would seriously piss me off to die because of a stupid pebble in my reserve cable housing. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
17. I just asked because I know the emergency procedure for a total on a BASE rig is to manually reach behind and tear open the shrivel flap. Skydiving you have a ton more time, maybe practicing reaching behind on the ground might be beneficial... --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
18. Whats the procedure if your reserve handle won't pull out? Reach around and pull the pin by hand, I guess, is there some reason as to why this wouldn't work though? --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...

23. What is the likely malfunction that will happen if you pack a canopy 20-40 ft2 smaller than what the manufacturer recomends? RWS told me you run the risk of having a horseshoe mal, can someone explain this? --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
24. I think it depends on what you call common. I've been skydiving for 3 months, probably seen hundreds of people land so far, in that short an amount of time, and not yet have I seen an injury. Now most people with any amount of experience, say a year or more, have seen an injury. Depends on your perspective, I guess. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
25.
You slump in the direction of the loose leg strap. I loosened the right one to turn right, because the canopy was turning left.
Right, exactly what I said in just oh so not an eloquent way as you Thanks for clarifying that. --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm...
