Bill sorry but thats just WEAK. Congree which the Dem's control can cut funding and the WAR IS OVER. They ran on ending the war because that was a good way to get into power - AND IT WORKED. But they have NOT ended the war. Saying or suggesting that big bad evil Bush would allow our troops to "were all dead" is beneth your level of debate. You certainly shouldn't have to. Col Tibbets commented that he understood that some people who were not around at the time would not agree with what he did. True and he supported that to. I can understand that, he was one of my hero's.... As far as nukes being used in WWII you will never see my side of that and like wise I will never ever never see yours. But I find the fire bombings and other actions that never seem to be brought up to be much more upsetting. But thats just me and my read of history. Col. Tibbets supported your right to disagree as I do to. Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little

It has been reported that Col Tibbets request to be buried in an unmarked grave as to prevent protesters from using it as a location to gather. Col. Tibbets was an honorable man who by all accounts lead a good life. His grave site should be a place of reverence not something to be hid. Shame on revisionist historians and uneducated people to slander a man who deserves much respect for not only his courage but his dignity during his later years of life listening to people second guess actions of 62 years ago. This was a great American and he should be treated as such. If you’d like to reply do some research first, he didn’t just drop “the bomb” Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little

Goggle Funds 30 Million alternate fuel prize
mirage62 replied to mirage62's topic in Speakers Corner
Yep and hence the comment "Certainly Google or the Gates foundation can fund whatever they want" Perhaps a more detailed and obviously better thought out $30 million prize for a (let's say) hydrogen motor capable of X, Y, Z would be a better idea. The point would be to get more people working on the problem. Now if Gates would come off with a BILLION dollar prize I bet we could get something done! -
Goggle Funds 30 Million alternate fuel prize
mirage62 replied to mirage62's topic in Speakers Corner
Ahhhhhhh my bad. I should have given more detail. First I am at the top of th anti "enviro-make-everyone-feel-smug" group. I really could give a rat's ass about any of that. What I would really like is that some of the self proclaimed do gooders would put some of their money IF they are going to do something like this towards the problem of our dependants on energy sources that we don’t control. Certainly Google or the Gates foundation can fund whatever they want. It seems to me that as a country we should be able to understand that we are setting ourselves up for continued problems if we don’t change. Generally there are spin off’s to such prizes such as the one Google has offered. But let me ask what do you think would benefit mankind better, another trip to the moon, or a real solution to the energy crisis? I believe very strongly that if we can put a man on the moon we could techically figure out a way to develope and alternate fuel supply. Yes it might take time, but how hard are we really working on it? What happens when gas comes down? My point was not that Google did anything wrong-they didn’t. I’d just (in my dreams) like to see a big prize like this with and end goal to help with a problem that I believe is larger than going to the moon. Who knows why Google picked the contest they did. But I bet with proper marketing more Americans would get behind, follow and support a 30 million dollar prize for an alternate fuel source that worked. Goggle Funds 30 Million alternate fuel prize
mirage62 replied to mirage62's topic in Speakers Corner
Google announced today that they would sponsor a prize for the first team to develop a marketable alternate fuel vehicle. Stating that “we could have come up with some silly moon idea but we thought something practical that would really benefit the world would be better” The vehicle must have a top speed of 70 mph, be able to tow a medium size boat and comfortably carry four adults. Most importantly it must cost less than $25,000 to manufacture. Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa They did a stupid moon thing. Why or why can’t Bill Gates, or these guys spend the money on something like this? I like the moon an all but I’d rather see us get off the oil tit once and for all. Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little -

Yeah and all the "local" jumpers get to run around to other DZ's and the DZO can't bitch them out about it. You'd better get your money for the rig I took to Deland for you.....sorry we didn't get you asking price but they had close to the same rig at the gear shop and I figured you'd rather sell it than hold on to it. Pretty close though. fr Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little

Whats the plane situation going to be? $15 jumps should really bring out the folks.....be nice to have enough plane power to get the jumps in. Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little -
This makes the third or fourth large dz to post new rules about turns in the pattern. It will be interesting to see if any of these dz really face a large push back from jumpers who don't want pattern rules. Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little

My wife was sitting at a bar with three other jumpers wifes (Girls weekend out) A fellow walks over at starts chatting them up, tells her he's a jumper and she ask where he jumps "Quincy, can I get you a drink?" "Sure" (my wife knows to take the free drinks) After he brings her the drink she asked how often he jumps at Quincy "All the time, I've got 1,000 of jumps" She asked is he knew a guy named Fortson "No, never heard of him" - my home dz At least that was her story. She's not a jumper so she was prob telling the truth............ Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little

have the tax cuts caused tax revenues to go up?
mirage62 replied to TrophyHusband's topic in Speakers Corner
Does anyone REALLY think the gov needs MORE money to spend?? I mean one can certainly say "we need to spend it differently" but raise TAXES??? Cut programs and spend the money better (whatever that may be) but raise more taxes. Thats nuts. Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little -
Hey I've GOT it. We repeal the BSR for low pulls. These people only kill themselves and we trade it for a BSR that may ALONG with education help prevent canopy collisions! We now have the same number of BSR's so that "the man" isn't taking over. Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little

Oh what a pile of crap. Pretty soon you'll be telling me that you have TWO F.U.P's But just in case it's true....want to come to do r.w.? Glad your okay man, it would ruin my day to hear you had lost your main fr Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little

Not to call names but for all the people that JUST KEEPS ASKING "what happens when a S.P. pilot lands in the H.P. landing area. (say from a bad spot or a mistake) You do the samething to them that you do to the H.P. pilot that lands in the S.P. landing area!!! It's going to happen both ways, the H.P. group isn't beyond making a mistake. Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little
-
Jeez, I can't even keep up with all this bullshit now. Did this somehow get turned into the H.P. pilots are worried that non-real HP pilots will want to swoop in the HP area and this will make it dangerous for them?????? So don't have BSR so that the dz can tell a person when they can use the H.P. lanes? Until then they can use the standard approach lanes????? OR what????? From my home dz: Canopy Flight Rules B.O.B. A recent Georgia accident involving 2 highly experienced jumpers having a mid air collision has enlightened the skydiving community as to the need for new rules of the road to go along with todays ultra-high performance canopies & high-performance landing techniques. Visiting jumpers, under very specific & very limited circumstances please get the details from DZ mngmnt, prior to jumping. B.O.B. If you don't know, means Because of Bob. Bob Holler one of our former instructors was innocently killed at an out-of-state skydiving event by another jumper making a high performance landing into other canopy traffic. This is forbidden under all circumstances.. I guess thats another dz that the vast number of people who have to do 270's in traffic will never come to again. Or it could be that guys like BRIAN MC NENNEY who is swooping today has no problem following a few simple rules from the DZO - and I promise Brain isn't doing 90's. I miss Bob.
