  1. Good point, question has the skydiving community done a good job educating the dangerous swoopers? No. Has the swooping community -The good ones like you - done a good job of getting on the ass of the bad ones? You know self regulation doesn't seem to be happening Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little
  2. Hey Kallend, As a Professor how do you feel about the Professors that put the ad in the school paper? Should they be forced to write an apology? Anything at all? I’ve tried to find links to what was published, if anyone has that link I would like to read it. I truly believe in free speech, but at what point do you pull back from political correctness? This whole thing looked like the “perfect story” Rich white boys, poor black women…… Then (it seems) a lot of the faculty got on the band wagon. Of course if you want to really look at something scary, think if it had be the all black guys and a white women! They’d been hung in a week BUT would have the faculty jump in? I don’t think so. 3. Hey Profallrate! Man it's good to hear from you, last time I saw you you had lost a LOT of weight....and these sores....man they were nasty. I heard that most the other jumpers were willing to jump this weekend with you WITHOUT there rubber gloves! That has to be a good feeling. Your prove that skydivers are an inclusive group! My foot will heal in time, and I guess with the proper med's your problem will........well you know fr Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little
  4. Jeez 35 yrs racing and riding motorcycles and I fall going 5 mph. Four weeks after surgery on my foot and I am going N-U-T-S. (more nuts than normal) Before I got hurt I had the “well I guess I’ll go to the dz and jump” attitude. Never understood people who got hurt coming out to the dz. I mean surely they had better things to do than sit at the dz. I’ve been down twice, once for a good party…. The other time I just seem to start driving and end up there. I bought the dive maker software, I sit in the office on the weekend and design my favorite jumps. Even bought a book to put them in. I read way to much about the BSR argument, I’ve looked at new gear……… Jeez I’m bored……………. See everyone in four weeks……..well I could drive down to the dz and see what’s happening…….. 5. BULLSHIT, jeez...........Bills the ONLY one suggesting a BSR????? Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little
  6. I get your point here, a BSR would not change what anyone would do (I believe) In fact as far as I care you could get rid of this BSR. If SOMEONE smokes it in low, screws up their EP's and goes in I am going to be sorry, and miss them, and it's bad for the sport. BUT and its a BIG BUT....they killed themself. They didn't take me with them. Obviously personal freedoms mean a lot to you. Me to. But I'm sure you agree that as, Bill pointed out, you understand the need to not drink and drive. You give that freedom up - or not - but if you are caught you pay a price. There is also (as one gets older) peer preassure to not drink and drive. A BSR for this will do the same. When it becomes the "norm" to not swoop in traffic because of the BSR, when a low time jump can say "hey what the hell are you doing and the big jump number, swooper god will have nothing that can be said other than "oops" plus a lot more people have the right to say something if there is a BSR And for the record if a swooper cuts off another swooper it's just as bad. It a normal pattern flyer cuts off another N.P.F. it's just as bad but if you seperate the two at least I know that there is a better chance that the other pilot will be doing a 90. Good luck be safe Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little
  7. Evan, can you tell me how you came up with this number? If it is a factual number it would be of great interest to me. OTOH if you just estimating, no problem. Thx Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little
  8. THIRD??? Man I got to give that boy more time off Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little
  9. I know these polls aren't the most spot on but so far it seems that the idea might have been to see how it would impact a dz who dosesn't allow any thing more than 90's 62% of the people are saying they WOULD go to the dz. So I guess we now now that most dz won't blow away IF the swoopers leave. Hows SDA doing? Seems tha by now all the HP that would pack there shit and leave would be gone by now, anyone want to comment about how you can't get good training at SDA because all the "good" pilots left? Swooping has a place at dz's, it's just not in the same landing area as standard approach pilots. Period. Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little
  10. No shit. If you are gonna whine and bitch, get on with it and leave. Quit being a drama queen about it. ______________________ Quit being rude. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Well I don't get it either......I mean telling everyone you leaving because the "Fucktards" are to much..... I mean hell isn't that like a kid saying to everyone "I'm leaving and I'm going to slam the door real hard when I go" Go and come back or don't. 11. Ahhhh for all you swoopers that think that I have some problem with swoopers, Brian is actually "more sponsered by the company he works for (who the hell would let him off as often as he is to go do these things other than another skydiver?) So Brain will win and my company will grow overnight 200% because all the people in the world will buy from us because our company is "skydiver friendly" On a serious note is there anywhere to follow the results? fr Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little
  12. Just plan my trip to Arizona due to the restrictions, I plan to do 200 jumps, pay packers AND drink more beer than you.
  13. come out to the local dz Quincy about 20 miles west of Tallahassee, the food isn't good but the jumps are and the beer is (generally) cold Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little
  14. I believe today 6/3/07 was Bobs birthday........ he'd be pissed knowing how blue some of use still are.... "Peace" Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little
  15. This is actually a really good comment. I love watching well done swoops, they still "that shit scares me" BUT does the a jumper with a 1,000 jumps have the right to "dig themselves out"? I say yes. It may not be correct, but they have the right to do whatever they want to how ever they deem fit. They don't have the right to take some with them obviously. 19. Sorry Jp but been there done that, not to your level. Students mimic there teachers a lot's of times. If they see YOU swooping than it gain status....and since they see you do it correct that's good. We have no big time swooper TEACHING at our small dz and students rarely run off to start swooping Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little
  20. You know I appreciate the post commenting about all the hot shit talent leaving Eloy, and the reply that so far none has. H.P. landing aren’t the dominant force in skydiving, it never will be IMO because of the death and injury rate during the learning curve. Too many low timers see or hear about someone getting hurt or killed and decide not to move into that discipline. H.P. landings does have its place but not at the expense of others – perceived or real and that seems to be hard for some of the posters to understand. It may not be fair, and education is good but many of the 80% skydivers DO worry about a swooper running into them. Then you get “I’m more worried about the non-swooper with the big canopy running into me….” Well that’s good but 80% vrs 20%, the numbers don’t add up. As I mention a few weeks ago the “herd” is moving and the swoopers who want to belittle others, whine about the “witch hunt” need to get there head out of there asses. It’s not going to help your cause by insulting others. It’s a numbers game and your numbers are waaaay low. Last weekend at the 150 ways I didn’t see any H.P. landings. There IS a time and a place for everything but that wasn’t the weekend for it. If HALF the stuff I read is true about how BAD Eloy will suffer because of there landing policy then a destination dz will open and cater to H.P. landings. 22. I’m writing this now because it’s been a few weeks and I have had a chance to get my thoughts together. Bob was a friend of mine, I’d like to say good friend. He certainly had better friends than me in the skydiving world. Bob put me on my first +20 way at Crestview. He selected me over some of the locals; he wasn’t pleasant when he did it either. We all jump together that day and Bob and his wife told us that the sunset load would be determine by how you jumped that day. We went up and did a great jump. Bob chewed my ass for a stupid landing pattern one time, but that night at the camp fire, he brought me a beer and asked me if I understood what he was upset about. Thank God I had reached an age (barely) where I would listen. I learned that night by listening that Bob didn’t have an ego in the game. He wanted you to be as safe and as good as you could be. People that would listen to Bob he would do the world for, if you didn’t listen than I guess he could be rough but most of my friends listened. A few years ago I sat down with Bob (who had been on two or three WT records) and asked for help learning what I needed to do to get on the 06 record. Bob spent a good hour giving me the “inside” on the working of big ways. One of the hardest things to do is really get the “secret stuff” info, you not really going to get it at a camp or from the big organizers. He candidly point out my weakness. More importantly he told me who ass to kiss and who’s not to worry about because I would never get on there good side. When he was finished, that was it. He would check in. When I did get a slot he was almost as happy as me. (Molly was a close second) While we did the jumps he keep me calm. At my house, as weird as it my sound, I have a rule. Two skydiving related pictures max. One of these two pictures is of Bob, my best friend, my plane captain and co-plane captain-taken 10 minutes after we got the record. Bob had been doing “Bob Big ways” at Deland. He was having fun and he made them fun. He was also bringing up more people. They weren’t perfect but they were fun…..I miss them already. I was on Bob’s last jump and will forever believe that I was blessed to be the pull out at 5K. When I landed it was for the most part over. Not a day has gone by since then that I haven’t thought of Bob. Briefer as the time goes on. Tonight at a dinner party some one ask “Did you know these two guys that……..” I’ve answered that question every time by say “Yes, both, one better than the other and he was a hell of a guy” Bob was a hell of a guy, a great American. A person anyone who knew him would be proud to say they did. In all the hype of the world he was the real thing. B.O.B –I would add, “Because of Bob I’m a better person” Peace Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little

  24. Hey Liz, I'm not trying to start something here but would you estimate just how long before most of the staff will be gone because of these changes? This point has been made several times and I'd like to personally check this out AFTER some reasonable time. I realize it won't be perfect just your guess based on the staff and people you know. Thanks Fortson Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little
  25. LOL- somewhere- and the swoopers can fight about the numbers - around 10% of the skydiving world is into swooping. 90% aren't. Most of that 90% doesn't have ANYTHING against swoopers. They like watching, BUT they (the 90%) don't care to be taken out by a swooper who is doing it wrong - or anyone else. The herd is moving, call it a "witch hunt" all you want. Try to convice everyone that what we are seeing really isn't true............. Or let's all work together to figure it out and move on. Roughly X% is getting tired of the problems (Standard approach skydivers) and that X% is MUCH larger than the % that swoops. Kevin Keenan is my hero, a double FUP, he does so much with so little
