mx757 replied to mx757's topic in Skydivers with Disabilities
The Pieces of Eight, the amputee skydivers will fly again September 8th 9th and 10th at skydive Perris, Perris CA. We last got together in September 2001 also in Perris CA a week before 9-11-2001. The old POE record is a 14 way set in Raeford NC way back in 1998 (?) This year attempt we will have at least 24 gimps maybe as many as 28 One guy is coming from Russia and another from Australia. This year we will have several FNG to the team including Dan Glanz who lost his right arm in Afaghastan and Maxwell Ramsey who lost his left leg above knee March 1st 2006 in Iraq. Max is still in Walter Reed hospital but says he’ll be there! Oh yea FNG buy the beer! Mike Boland POE organizer 2006 -

My Sister Daughter plays college softball with Lt. Jim Cathey Sister Joyce. I remember when she returned to the team after his funeral. She didn't want to play / wanted to be alone.

if you were flying out of STL chances are you were flying American Airlines. Ask agents to print you out page N*probhitied Items on line 79 it says: parachutes are allowed to be carried on aircraft as long as they do not have a CO cartiage why they don't allow those I don't understand, becuase there one under every seat on aircraft (life vests) go figure. I've never seen a Parachute with CO cartiages. -

They don't realize how stupid they look... I'm deaf so I don't need a phone. sometimes I think hearing people just need to hear something... anything!

Lasen & Brussgard now makes the Optmia with optional LED or LCD visual display. They send us a bunch of them to test at our Deaf record jumps last October 2005. they were great. Everyone loved themThe optima is avaliable now but the optional LED or LCD isn't available yet . L&B sent me one of their protypes to use until they come out which should be about now.

My brother's wife has a parriot like that... they are a pain in ass. They chew everything up you have to watch them like a Hawk. I wouldn't want one...
-
do what I did... have staff teach deaf the AFF jump one on one. not in class. as for radio? why need radio? that's for sissys... get a long mat or something in shape of arrow or make a arrow out of PVC pipe be sure It pretty good size arrow so it can be seen from air... rotate arrow in direction you want them to fly when they come in to land use warning flags or paddles to hold up (no flare) move down to show when to flare orr left turn / right turn corrections as they get low. John King of Finger lakes Skydivers had a bunch of deaf first jump students do it this way. worked well.

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (AP) -- A man who pleaded no contest to a sodomy charge involving a sheep says he should not have to register as a sex offender. Jeffrey S. Haynes said the state registry is intended to keep track of people who have committed crimes against humans. But Calhoun County Circuit Court Judge Conrad Sindt told Haynes at his sentencing hearing that once he is released from prison, he must register with the Michigan State Police Public Sex Offender Registry. Haynes, 42, of Battle Creek, was sentenced Monday to 2 1/2 years to 20 years in prison. He entered the plea in January. A no contest plea is not an admission of guilt but is treated as such for sentencing purposes. Tamara Towns, an assistant prosecutor for the county, argued that Haynes should be ordered to register as a sex offender because once out of prison, he could prey on children or vulnerable adults. Haynes said he is not a violent person and would not assault children. "The prosecutor is being real hard on me for what I did," he said. "But I should not be treated as a child molester." A telephone call seeking comment was left Tuesday at the Marshall office of defense attorney John B. Sullivan. Police said Haynes had sex with a sheep at a Bedford Township farm on Jan. 26, 2005. The animal's owner caught him on the property and the sheep was found injured. Haynes was arrested in June after a DNA sample taken from the animal matched Haynes' genetic material. Haynes has prior convictions for burglary, home invasion and uttering and publishing, and was on parole for burglary at the time of the sex crime.
