  1. Bill...the solution ended up being that we ran the strap under the opposite lift web and the person held onto the working end of the strap. This gave the person a 2 to 1 mechanical advantage, and they were able to stay stable for deployment. And by the way, your right, rerouting in freefall is near impossible. To you other folks: It is what it looks like, the strap is completely off, don't think for a minute that the same mistake couldn't be made by all of us if we become complacent! I misrouted a chest strap on like my 12th jump, I got a gear check and it was caught...when I stoped shaking I swore that I would be vigilant about checking my shit...now I'm vigilant about checking those I'm jumping with. I was the more experienced skydiver on this hybrid, this person was sub 100 and it was my failure as well as theirs. Let's all keep each other safe... Check Your SHit Yo! 5. I'm with ya! I'm getting ready to downsize in the next couple of months and decided to keep my container...which has a saber 2 170 and a 218 sqft reserve...it's gonna take some modification to reduce the volume of the main tray but worth the money for me. I look at my reserve as my worst case scenario (survivable). I don't want to be under an elliptical 150 injured or unconscious. Well shit I don't want anything bad to happen but am planning on it before it does. With a max pack volume for a 150 sqft ZP the largest reserve I could get into a new container is 180 sqft which is unacceptable to me, so it looks like I'll be spending money on extra rigging for the foreseeable future. P.S. I don't give a shit what my container looks like as long as It's safe. If fashion is more important then safety to some folks...damn I'm speechless! 9. That is a pretty broad statement, do have any idea what his main is? Sparky Ok...you're right. Still the question stands. Would you suggest someone chop a main that wasn't malfunctioning...yet? 10. So wait...You're saying you think he should have choped a snivling main because his neptune said to? He knew full well he was dumping at 3k or so and there was no way most mains these days would be inflated and flying by 2600 where his flatline was set. Consider that to get an A you have to do a 3500 H&P, which means that most likely he would have been under "his" hard deck of 2600 before his main was out. So should he have gone for silver first in these situations? Faith in a holy cause is to a considerable extent a substitute for lost faith in ourselves. -Eric Hoffer - Check out these Videos

  17. Let me start off by saying thank you for your input. I recognize you dislike my choices about w/l and yes, I realize that I'm going to die. Now...for my question. Right now I'm jumping a Saber II with a w/l of 1.30 or so. I plan on downsizing to a 150 Stiletto late this fall (will have ~350 to 400) and would like to spend some time on a like wingloaded (ie Stiletto 170 or Batwing 171) more eliptical canopy. I have an opportunity to swap my Saber II for a batwing with a fresh line set. My question is this. Will the batwing give me the experience I'm looking for? Or should I look for a used Stiletto 170? 19. Jason...On a six way track this weekend I was on my back at break off...had 4 above me tracked away, turned over and dumped directly below lucky number 5. Lost him in the sun. Had plenty of alti to give it a few more secs, should have taken them to find number 5 instead of trying to kill us both. From now on I will (Alti permitting) find those I'm jumping with so as to not see my friend diving past me close and at high speed. 22. Ok...the disclaimer is that I only have 150 Skydives, very little experience and no advice to give. I can give you my qualified impressions. Take them for what they are...the voice of inexperience: 170 Saber 2 @ 1.5 149 Safire @ 1.54 I lost 25 to 30 lbs from my first jump on my Saber 2 till now. Just jumped a friends Safire 149. The difference I found was dramatic. It turns/dives faster, flies faster is more twitchy all around. Found myself saying WOW alot. Took lots of self control not to just say "Fuckit" and get a 150! While it was fun, I figure a got quite a bit more to learn before I jump a 150 on regular basis. I found the difference to be...profound.
