QuoteGermans, however, see nothing amiss. They actually like their toilets. Some even dislike North American toilets. You splash yourself, they claim. I don't think this is possible. I've never splashed myself sitting on the toilet. For the wave to reach one's bottom, one would need to eject a hefty pellet at tremendous velocity. I think they're making that up. SPLASHING can be a very real problem! We have a guy at work that splashes all the time! Not a very pretty sight! Why doesn't he get it? Wipe it down when you are done! I would hate to see his toilet at home! I know where you are coming from. I have had many bad experiences with the toilets in Germany. They usually ended up with sticking your finger in something you really would have rather not! Yuck! I was so happy the day I got to move into post housing and we got normal toilets again! It's the little things about the U.S. that you miss when you travel! Dom

Even though I played most sports and had a wide network of all types of friends. I considerd myself a nerd. I started every year n Football and Basketball and was in the Band. I was in all the gifted classes but ditched all the time. I played in a Mormon basketball league (my best friend was Mormon). You only has to show up to Church once a month to be in the league, so I only went once a month. It was usually at night and I was usually buzzed form drinking beers before I went. I had girlfriends but never for very long. A lot of kids thought that I was stuck up. I found that out years after being out of school. I wasn't stuck up I was fairly shy. It just took me a while to get to know someone and open up to them. So it seems I was a little of everything. Popular and an outcast at the same time. I only talk to a few of them from time to time now anyways. It is true in my case that the real popular kids ended up much worse off then then nerdy kids did. I grew up in a pretty rough area and most of the cool guys ended up in jail or dead. The cool girls all got knocked up by the cool guys and are either widows with small kids or are waiting for daddy to get out of jail. It is kind of sad actually! Dom

The riser covers on the reserve flap are like the Mirage covers. I like them on the Icon, but I like the bigger ones on the Infinity a bit better. The Icon that I got to try on was about two sizes to small. So I can't comment on the fit and feel of it. We should be getting our demo's soon and then I will get to jump one and see how they feel. They are now ready! I saw one this weekend at a big way camp that I took place in. Aubrey from Aerodyne was in town for the event. They look pretty nice and come with most options as standard. he made a really good offer to the camp participants and 5 or six people took him up on it after seeing the container and demoing some of their mains. If you have any other questions about them pm me. Dom

I am putting together an 8 way team at Perris. Looking for jumpers that are interested in commiting to at least 1 weekend a month. If you are interested drop me a pm or email and I will get your information. We won't be doing anything until late January or early February as a team. Let me know as soon as possible so we can try and get people together to sit down and see what type of schedule and how many training jumps we can get in before Nationals next year. I would like to start jumping with folks in early January so we can figure out who is going to be on the team, then start working on everything else. Jump numbers aren't the most important thing we are looking for. We want current people that are willing to commit and of course have fun, but also willing to learn and get the most out of the training we can. Dom

Check out Flite Suit www.flitesuite.com . They have really nice suits and I have seen them in Urban Camo. So I am pretty sure they can get you what you need. Fire Fly has nice suits as well but they have a really long wait time right now from what I understand, Dom

The only time I ever got a warning instead of a ticket was when I first got home from Desert Strom. Was doing well over 100mph on my CBR. I had a radar detector. I saw the lights fromthe Trooper but nothing on the radar detector. After I had stopped then the detector went off. I left it on as the Trooper walked up to me, he was very surprised to see that I had one on the motorcycle. He asked me how fast I was going and I told him the truth. I also mentioned that I had just came home from the war and was going to see my inlaws and my wife.He thaked me for my honesty and gave me a warning. I think for two reasons. One cause I had just got back and the other because he knew that I knew he hadn't clocked me doing anything. Since his radar wasn't turned on until after I was stopped! Dom -
African American SkyDiver! What?
dgskydive replied to TXBLKBEAR's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
No worries Laurie. I know you for the good person that you are. It is something I have dealt with my whole life. I take it as an opportunity to try and educate them on how ignorant they really are and how utterly stupid they sound when they say those types of things. BTW, Jp told me about what happened to yo uat work as a result of those line burns. AT least you know someone cares! Do we need to write them a note? Dom -
African American SkyDiver! What?
dgskydive replied to TXBLKBEAR's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
OH how I wish that was true Laurie. I have heard many racist comments at the DZ. It breaks my heart everytime. Granted they are usually ignorant fellows that most of us don't hang with anyway, but some of the more "famous" names have let their true colors show from time to time. It is funny in a way since I am part black myself (most people think I am Spanish do to the last name) I hear people say they N word and other terms. They don't even blink when they say it. If I mention to them that they have just offended me and my family, they all of a sudden come up with the old "I have lot's of black friends". I wonder if they would still be there friends if they knew what they really thought. Dom -

You won't find any skydiving shops that aren't on a DZ or right next to it. Like the other guy said, there just aren't enough of us to have them on the corner or in the mall. We deal with people from all over the world and 99.9% of the time there aren't any problems at all. Dom

Called up the nice folks at Precision a few weeks ago and asked if they would send me a demo of their Nitron canopy. 4 days later I had a brand new 135 Nitron in my hands for a few weekends. Thanks George! I put about 1-15 jumps on it and it was very enjoyable. Nice openings for the most part. It did do a bit of searching but not to bad and opened on heading almost everytime. Very responsive and nice fast swoopy landings. I have to admit I only packed it once (it was new) But it wasn't to bad getting it in the bag. All in all I enjoyed the canopy and would recommend it to anyone looking for a nice eliptical to jump. I have jumped the Stiletto 135, the Nitron 135 and the Vision 132. They all had good qualities to them. Everyone knows the Stiletto and the reputaion that it has. I would say that the Vision is a good first Eliptical (very forgiving) and the Stiletto and the Nitron are a bit more responsive and more aggresive. They have longer recovery archs then the Vision.
