10-way Speed Meet, Elsinore, Jan 17?
dgskydive replied to RippedCord's topic in Events & Places to Jump
To bad your eyes aren't better already you could have come out and done the rumbleseat meet on Saturday at Perris. You stand a better chance of getting on a team if you call over and see if they have a sing up sheet. Then They can put you on a team that morning if there are enough people. It should be pretty fun. I might be going. Dom -
God Bless him and his family! To you and his fellow soldiers I also send my deepest sympathy. I lost friends in the 1st Gulf War. You will never forget them. You should never forget them. Dom

Any of you guys that are going to Jack Off and plan to go in the wind tunnel? If you do I suggest you call them now and get your times worked out. It has been very busy in there lately and reservations are almost a must at this point. If you let me know soon enough (like today or tomorrow morning). I will see if I can get you set up. In case you don't know for all of you free flyers out there. Every Friday night they have been having "Free Fly Friday" Alchemy do the coaching. I have seen nothing but smile when people come out of it. Dom

I'll be there all weekend for both weekends. Some of you I haven't met yet so look for me around SQ1. Dom

There is a lot of freeflyers on the week days. If you are looking for fun on the weekends I would say go to the Irvine Spectrum. Find me when you get to Perris and I will give ya directions. Lots of bars and ladies hanging out on the weekends. If you like video games and booze, they have a really nice adult arcade, with two levels and a bar on each one. They also have an indoor gocart track that is really fun when you are good and drunk. Balboa is also a nice place to go but it may be a bit cold at night down by the ocean. Dom

I know whop you are! I see you at Perris all the time. Guys, these pics do her no justice! She is definatly a hottie. SMOKIN BODY! Dom -
QuoteHe is a local at Perris. I heard the guy has been jumping since March and already has 2 brand new rigs and over 400 jumps. Must be nice! Especially when he is friends with the FlyBoyz and mostly only jumps with them. He is getting a lot of experience fast! Dom

Some people call them Slip ons. They are just sleeves that you pull over your forearms that give extra drag. I have a few pair of those you can borrow as well. Dom

How much do you weigh and how tall are you? I am over 6 ft. and about 215-220 right now and haven't had a problem at all. It defiantely takes some gettin used to in there. I have a suit that is to big for me and I would be willing to let you use it if it fits ya. As far as fastest turn around on suits. If you buy a Filte suite you can pay an extra 40 bucks and have it in 12 working days. Let me know your height and wieght and I'll see if the suit will fit you. Dom

QuoteI got some arguments from people on here when I downsized. Many people wanted me to stay on my 190sf student canopy. I did not find this reasonable. I argued a point and people got pissed off. I couldn't be bothered at that point because no one was going to acknowledge that maybe, just maybe, I didn't need to be on a 190sf chute. There is the problem. You say " I did not find this reasonable" That is the "XXX JUMP WONDER" attitude. IT is more then reasonable to keep some one with lower jump numbers on a bigger canopy. Especially if they have shown that they are not 100% with there current canopy all the time. There is no excuse for landing on a runway or near a plane unless you have had a cutaway. Getting out of line twists at 900 ft. is not an excuse. If you couldn't get to a safe place to land, what makes you think you would handle the situation different on a smaller canopy? With a smaller canopy you would more then likely have been lower when you got out of the line twists and had even less time to get in a clear spot to land. You should be 100% with your current canopy in any condition before you go to a smaller one. Even that won't save people all the time. I am not perfect and am speaking from first hand knowledge on this subject. When I bought my first canopy it was way to small for me. I went from a 220 f-111 to a 150 ZP in one step. That was stupid and two of my very close friends did the same thing at the same time. One of them is now dead and the other sent himself to the hospital because of it. By the grace of God I didn't kill myself either, but I have plenty of video of myself digging it out at the last second. I am very lucky to be here in one piece today. Learn from the mistakes of others. Most of the time people want to help and prevent the unfortunate things they have seen in the past. I guess time will tell with you. Dom

I am strong willed, and if you think that makes me an asshole, screw you! Did I ever call you a name? Let's be adults here. Being strong willed is great! Being Stubborn and not listening to people that know is not! I draw opinions based on what you have said on this website not what others tell me. From what I have seen you post on this site you are the sterotypical " 100 jump wonder". I will restate what I said in my last post. YOU SHOULD NOT BE GIVING ADVICE AT THIS POINT! Relate your experiences. Don't give advice. What gives you the right to tell someone what they should be doing when you don't have it figured out yet? Dom

Good post Val. I have stayed off this site for pretty much the last month or so because of attitudes like people are displaying here. Must new jumpers today think they know it all. I have over 700 jumps now and still learn everytime I step out the door. I am always listening to people with more experience then I. What makes new jumpers today think they no everything at less then 100 jumps? NEWS FLASH......... YOU DON'T! SKYDIVENFLORIDA. I have heard about your situation and trust the people that told me about it. In fact you are more famous then you know. You shouldn't be giving any advice on canopies. If you want to help someone, point them to someone that knows what they are talking about! That would be the more responsible thing to do. Instead of tellling people things that seem like fact, tell them that it is your opinion and that they may get better advice from someone with more experience. Landing next to a plane or on the runway is DANGEROUS. No way around that. Don't try and justify it by saying "at least I didn't freak out and do a low turn" is the wrong answer. Basically you are saying "I fucked up but since I didn't kill myself or hurt anything then it is ok." WRONG ANSWER. You should just admit that you messed up and learned from the mistake and pass on the advice to others not to land on or near the runway and planes. IMHO you should rethink your attitude about jumping. I have met many young jumpers like you in the last 10 years (I stopped jumping for almost 5 years and came back this March and have done over 200 jumps since then) and most of them end up dead or kill someone else. I have never met you personally and maybe you just come across wrong over the internet. But after everything else that I have heard from your posts and people that I trust and have been in this sport for well over 20 years. I think you should rethink the way you are going at his sport. Getting banned by a big name DZ isn't going to help your case. Most DZ's don't like to ban people and folks know that when you have been banned it is for a good reason. Don't kid yourself by thinking that people are going to think that you got screwed by that situation. We have all made our fair share of mistakes and done things that could have gotten us killed. The difference is what you do after that. Do you point the finger? Do you make ecuses, or do you stand up and except what you did and learn from it? Sounds like you always have an excuse for what you do. That will earn you a trip to the hospital, or worse! From reading your posts on this site it seems you have had a lot of scary things happen in a very short amount of time. This shows that you still have a lot to learn and at this point should be sharing you rmistakes not giving advice!l

THe Anchors are going to be some big tall folks with some strength for sure. Dom

You guys are way over the top here. Perris is one of the busuest DZ's in the world and have seen just about every trick in the book form jumpers and non jumpers tryinf to get over on them. We had a guy coem into Square1 that didn't have a license and no training and wanted to rent gear before. I am sure manifest has had poeple try and get on a plane without a USPA license before as well. AS far as young ones taking liberties without managment consent you are way off base there. Dan Cook and Jana have been around DZ longer then must people have been jumping. They are doing there jobs and what is asked of them by their bosses. Dan is one of the best manifesters in the world hands down! It helps if you don't go in with an attitude. I see people get pissed of at the littlest things. If you go to get your gear checked and you don't have a rigger signature who's fault is that? I see this all the time. If you don't have a signature on your reserve card then that is going to send up a red flag. They will be more strict when checking you in. The thinking has to be "If he can't get his reserve in order, what else is wrong?" Keep in mind that you may be known by everybody at your home DZ. They may trust everything you do or say. It is different out here. We have so many people from all over the world come out, and contrary to what some people believe, all skydivers aren't the most trust worthy people in the world. It is no excuse to be rude to anyone, but with as big a place as it is with as many people coming through on any given day they do a great job! Sorry you guys had a bad experience. But just because you have a D license doesn't entitle any of us to anything special when it comes time to sign a wavier or get a gear check. Perris is a GREAT DZ and all the people that run it are top notch and just about the best at what they do. It is hard to keep all the people happy all the time. With as many people that go throught that DZ on anygiven day can you really blame them for trying to make sure everything is on the up an up with every jumper that gets on a plane. It saves them a lot of law suits I am sure. Bottom line is have your reserve card. log book and USPA membership in order and you will be fine. Dom
