I disagree. I know what you are saying about spotting and the jumper is responsible for his own safety and shouldn't leave the plane unless he nows where he is and is positive he is going to be able to get back. The fact is, if you get out of the plane over a hazard and don't notice it until you are tracking right at it or pulling, and end up in a tree or breaking something falling out of the tree. Then the bad spot lead to that injury. People need to learn to spot. Not just look out the door and see the dz at a 30 degree angle out the door. Look straight down, get your exit point lined up directly under the plane. Dom

How necessary are booties?

I voted that you must have. There are times when you may not need to wear them but they are good to have. They can slow your fall rate a bit but they also help give so much more control and really help tracking as well. IF you want to do more then just zoo 4 way loads you should get them. Dom -

From talking to Kate, that is about the average. There are some people on the jump with less then 1000 jumps. They are from the host country. They where out here training with BJ Worth and Rob Laidlaw during the big way camp in Dec. Dom

The record organizers left last week (well some of them) and everyone else is there now as well. They will be doing a record mass jump first of well over 600 people on one pass. then getting down to the record. Go to www.theworldteam.com/ Dom

After talking to Aubrey he has me convinced that everyone but RWS will be using them in a very short time. I can't remember the exact numbers, but he says that with the miniforce rings there should never be more then like 6 or 7 pounds of pull on the cutaway. No matter what is going on with the canopy. I might be wrong abut the pull force but it is pretty close to what he said. Maybe he will stick his head in here and tell us the exact numbers. The system is used by the military (not sure which one) for years is what I have been told. I never saw them in my 9 years in the Army. Maybe the French are using them? Dom

If the old jet doesn't come back, I bet that Perris works out something with WFFC. It only holds like 80 people or something like that. I don't know if it will be big enough They had a bunch of us sit in it one day to see how the seats work with our rigs on and if we could walk down the aisles without getting stuck on something. I guess they are going to take out the last 6 rows of seat for a staging area. It is a really nice jet. Dom

I agree it does seem to get political at times. I have even sat and watched a certain greenie lock posts and just generally fuck with a person they didn't like. I thought that was a bit over the top. I know this is not a democracy here, but damn at least be adults about it. If you can't keep it not personal then maybe you should turn in your greenie status. Dom

I saw the show as well last night. The terminal velocity was something like 64 mph. Not only did they prove it wouldn't kill ya. they also stuck there hands about 2 feet from this nail gun they had set up to test the pennies and it didn't even break the skin on the guy. He did it twice. Dom
