I know that. That is what I was looking for. SOmetimes folks will pull the reserve and then cut away. Just wanted to make sure you did it right. My normal prodecdure would be to cut away and pull as fast as possible. If I don't feel the snatch (pulling you up right) right away I would just go to the handles. Maybe look up back right before I cut away. I have seen to many times where that 1 or 2 second delay could have saved a life or at least not broken something. Just my .02. Obviously you are here so what you did worked. Just adding another point of view. Dom

It will only get better. Remeber 99% of all of your relationships will not last. Welcome to the club. Now you can call her your "puss filled mutated bitch" Standard name for any women that breaks your heart by cheating on you. I have two of em. Dom

Return from "winter breaks" - do you get the shakes?
dgskydive replied to xavenger's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
There is an easy way to fix that. Move to California! We jump all year long! Dom -
I am a little confused. You say you cut away, so how did the main get hung up? The big advice I would give is the next time you see a PC in tow like that. Don't wait for it to do something. Cut it away and get the reserve right away. You did ok because you are here to write about it. But next time (I hope you don't have a next time) you may not be so high and have that much time. Start those emergency procedures right away! Dom

You may want to think about the booties again. They can help add more drag and slow your fall rate as well as help you to turn and get that little bit of extra distance when you are tracking. It is hard and will cost you more to have the booties added on later. There are ones out there that you can add on later but they don't always seem to work real well. Dom

Where you on a freefly dive or an RW jump? Dom

Kinda of like an old Dairy Queen or something like that? Just across the street form the barracks? That was the place to go right after final formation. Then it was either the Hidden Door (we where all underage but they didn't mind there at all) or off to VD Drive! Lot's a strippers. I remember the first Friday night we where their we all headed off to the Sportsman Lounge (my first strip club). I had just gotten paid an extra 800.00 or so dollars for travel and all that stuff. Well, long story short. I don't remember leaving the place and had less then 50.00 dollars in my pocket when I woke up the next morning with my new Airborne tatto from Tatto Tommy. I tell you what I was more scared the next three weeks of one of the black hats finding out about my tatto then jumping out of a plane. Dom

That was my MOS as well. Although I never did it. My first 2 units didn't even have RATT Rig. My SF unit had one or two but we didn't use them. When I got out the last thing I heard was they where going to keep the MOS but only keep them in Special Ops units. Dom

I got in trouble more then once for not saluting them. I understood why they wanted us to, but it didn't sit well with me. Some 21 year old on a summer vaction is what I saw. There where a few that had there shit together but most of the ones we got seemed to just want to boss someone around. Probably just my attitude at the time but it just didn't sit well with me. Dom

I remember that place well! The last night I was in that place I ended up at the guest house vomiting all over myself. Lot's a fun at Ft. Benning! Dom

AT least you got it! Not to many did. Earn the respect don't just expect it, and your troops will follow you anywhere. Dom

Thank you very much Mr. Cole. I hit 21 a long time ago. this is year 33 for me. JP is just being a little smartass. He is just like the step brother I never wanted! I am going home now (actually to the wind tunnel) and will start to enjoy the rest of this evening in about 5 minutes. Thanks again to all of you that wished mw a happy day. I can't wait to see if anyone put money on my acct. Dom

YOu salute with your right hand. The Lt's where brand new in the Army. They always catch shit for being new and nobody respects them until they earn it. Especially if you are in a high speed unit where the lower ranking enlisted soldiers have more medals and awards then most lifers in a regular unit. After I left Ft. Bragg and was stationed in Germany. My squad leader hated me because I already had three full rows of medals an airborne badge and my choice of two combat patches I could wear. He didn't like me showing him up during inspections and such. Dom

My favorite afternoons during AIT were spent in front of the PX at Ft. Gordon seeing how many FNG LT's we could get to salute with their left hands! You would be surprised. Dom

Hey, I used to run into strange fellows like you all the time. It was always funny to here all the new privates ask, "SGT........ Why aren't those guys in uniform and why don't they shave? I would always aks who they where talking about. After they would point out the person or 2. I would once again ask "Who are you talking about?" Then just walk away. Dom

That is very very true. It just happens that these Berrets where ment to show everyone just exactly who you are. It used to be when you had a Berret (with the right wings and tabs) there was no question about what type of person you are. Not only a hard working, dedicated and a professional soldier, but well above the everyday standard set for the everyday soldier! That is what Special Op's units are about. Anyone can join the service and make it through Basic and AIT if they just try a little bit, but to go to Airborne School, Ranger School or the Q-course. It takes someone much more then the everyday soldier. Dom
