  1. How much do you way. Sometimes if the canopy is under loaded the end cells will stay closed even on a brand new canopy. Dom
  2. I like the colors. Real close to mine. I don't have the Silver in mine. Dom
  3. When did they release the Icon in Europe? I wonder if he bought one early from a dealer and they didn't bother to tell him they weren't being produced yet. I have only seen quick delivery times from Aerodyne. Canopies quick and on time if not early. Icons we just started to order last month and they aren't due yet anyway. I bet we start seeing some real quick here. Dom
  4. One thing I have noticed about SunPath is that a lot of time they want you to take a smaller container then really is needed. I haven't heard of anybodies main not deploying as a result though. It would concern me if I could lift the rig off the ground and the pin was pulled but the bag stayed in the container. I bet it works fine......but better safe then sorry. Dom
  5. We will see how it goes. If we only do one camp I can afford it. If we do two then I may be out of it. Gotta talk to Christy later this month to see what ahe has finalized. Fingers crossed.
  6. THe number 4 right after the 18F says that he was an E7. The numbers and letters after, are different qualifications. P for Paratrooper etc. Dom
  7. Single Channel AM Radio Operator. Dom
  8. Jump school is a lot of fun. At least I had fun while I was there. As a skydiver you will get picked on a shit load if you let them know what you do. Iwill never forget the push ups I had to do just for watching there Demo team land in the Tower training area. Just keep quite, get your ass in shape they will run the shit out of you for the first two weeks. That was the biggest source of drop outs in our class. All the recycles from dropping out of runs. The jumping is the easy part! Wait till you hit the suspended harness and the swing landing trainer! Those are LOTS of fun! I saw two people get there teeth knocked out using the swing landing trainer. HAVE FUN!!!! I wish I had that part of my life to look forward to again. I was even AWOL once just to go see a friend from high school graduate about 6 months after I did. Dom
  9. Did almost 9 years. MOS 31C20P Ft. Bragg HHC 4/325 Germany 1st AD Ft.Lewis 1st SFG Dom
  10. No need to start lower in the turn. You just have to fly it harder meaning. Once you have started the turn you will have to hang on the fronts a bit to keep up the speed. OF course you want to let off of the fronts with time to get completely back under the canopy. With a Pilot I start my turns about the same height under the Nitro I am jumping right now. Just takes more fronts to keep the Pilot in the dive. Dom
  11. I haven't used a visual Alti in a while. Takes away from my EYE CONTACT!!!!! Dom
  12. It is the key to everything. I know it sounds silly to bring it up. but I bet if evryone that reads this tries it this weekend in there dirt dives things will go better then they expected. One of the things I do in post dives now is watch everyones heads. Where are they looking? The ones with their eyes off the center or off of there partners are the ones that are low or just generally screwing up the dive. With constantly working on eye contact lately I can still remember points from 3 months ago and what so and so did on a certain point. Dan has even gone as far as to ask us to remember what our partner did on his or her dive. Tell him what they did. Real simple, the people that could tell him what their partner did on the dive where the ones that got it right. If they couldn't tell him what their partner did, they where the ones that screwed up the dive every time we looked at a video. It is amazing to see it time and time again Dom
  13. I tell you guys what. In the last few months I have learned so much more about skydiving. More in the last 6 months then in the first 9 years around the sport. Of course jumping wtht Dan B.C. every weekend has helped just a little bit. I though this may help some of you at smaller DZ's that don't have the benifits of a Dan B.C. There are so many things he is teaching us but the most important one is Eye Contact. I know we all hear about it from day on in AFF, but how many really use it? Sure you see people in freefall but do you really have eye contact. Do you really see the eyes of your partner in freefall? That has been the biggest thing has preached since he has been here and just that little thing has improved everyone he has jumped with. It starts in the dirt dive and continues on to the dive. In your dirt dive where are you looking? If you don't look in there eyes in the dirt dive you won't in free fall. Try it see how much better you get with just that tip from him. Next time you dirt dive only look in your partners eyes. Don't worry about the other 2 on the jump. Just dirt dive your two way without ever taking your eyes off of each other. Then when you jump it will be automatic. Read his article on this site about it and you will improve right away. Dom
  14. Laurie, Dave at SQ1 has a copy of "The Airmoves Story" It has B.C. and them doing that formation more then a few times. It was shot after 1988 but you can see them doing it in there. Dom
  15. Mine is the best that is all. I thought that first one was yours. We won't miss you in the air for sure! I think my computer screen was permanetly burned from the colors on yours! Dom
  16. Exactly why I started this thread. VSE rocks! Dom
  17. Chirsty is da bomb. I like her because she is so down to earth. She has a plan and is doing what needs to be done to make it happen. Plus we may be teammates pretty soon. Dom
  18. 6 slots. This week it was from 6-7. But if it needs to be changed for a specific group I am sure she can work that out. Is Christy the only instructor coaching on Meeker Mondays, or are there other coaches, as well? Also, how much is it for normally for 10 minutes in the tunnel without a coach? Normally 135.00 for 10 min. Dom
  19. Majik also has a new DVD out with all of the exits in real time and slow mo. If you have a DVD player it can sure help kill some hours over there. Dom
  20. Christy Frikken is setting up a Meeker Monday at the Perris Wind Tunnel on Every other Monday night. Last night was the first one. It is 10 min of tunnel time for 117.00 with free coaching. If you don't know Christy, she is an Instructor at the tunnel and a very good skydiver. She is quite capable of getting you started off in the right direction. Pm me with any questions or give her a call at the Perris Windtunnel. SLots are limited Dom
  21. There is a two sided sword when it comes to that question. Some of the bigger manufactures also make military rigs. They sell a lot more to the military then to the sport jumper. The military orders will take priority. Causing the sport jumper to have his stuff pushed back farther and farther. The other side is that since militaryu buys hughe amounts of rigs every year it helps the manufacture to stay in business and take care of the sport jumper. Think about how many sport jumpers there are in the world. Not many if you really think about it. IMHO with out the Military buying rigs it would make it a lot more expensive for us all. Dom
  22. That pisses me off. I didn't see a Javelin come in in under 20 weeks for 90% of the year from Sun Path. Mirage was about that long. Buyers beware if you are getting conflicting times from different dealers, it isn't because one dealer is better then the other. It is becasue one dealer is lying abou the time and trying to get the sale. The one telling you the longer time is probably telling the truth. There maybe a situation where someone can get you something a bit quicker but in most cases you can't. Dom
