  1. Oh, okay, I get it now. It's okay to be an ass as long as you're smiling. I dunno... my momma taught me to treat other people how I want to be treated. She also told me that you can tell a lot about a person by how they treat the people they don't have to be nice to. And with that, I'm off to the dz to be nice to manifest.
  2. Okay. I'll even make a point of adding the special sauce.
  3. I think it was different. People choose to come here and argue. I think it's fucked up to purposely be an ass to someone who is serving you. And imho, the following is an example of purposely being an ass to someone who is serving you... Only my opinion. Worth what ya pay for it.
  4. And for that he has a legitimate bitch. What I don't think is cool is how he tells us he was acting prior to that happening.
  5. Yeah, cuz Otters never crash. And you're right. I am no fun.
  6. Did you see the part that he was stealing? I'm with Karen. By your own admission you started being an ass long before he rang up your order. One more reason I'm glad I don't have to put up with customers anymore...
  7. Oh, well, in that case, you should be pissed. No manufacturer has ever had a problem getting black or navy blue fabric.
  8. Sweet!!! Congrats, Cora! But what a horrible place to have to go to school. I'm sure you're going to hate it.
  9. Davis has a good sized crop of new jumpers this year and quite a few more experienced jumpers who are more than happy to jump with them. Finding someone to jump with is usually not a problem on the weekends. Plus the people at Davis try to take good care of newbies and also try to include them in the social scene. Tommy, I'd highly suggest taking Karen up on her offer - 2-4 ways are the best way to learn RW.
  10. It also beats the 52 weeks that a few people waited for a Vector 3 back when it was introduced...
  11. What's unsafe about a 182? Is it required that dropzones have grass landing areas to be considered safe? I'm with ya on the handicam, but then again this was a jump done with a local "personality" for a TV news show and it was done by very experienced instructors. I can understand why they'd want more than one camera angle; it'd be kind of hard to put a student, two instructors and two camerafliers in a (non-widebody) 182. I'm sure if it had been other than a textbook level one the reserve side instructor would have put doing his job over getting the video.
  12. Some possible reasons - 1) They're having issues getting the colors you ordered 2) They got a huge military order 3) Shit happened (people quit, machines break, etc) and they got behind AFAIK, as long as your canopy hasn't been cut yet you can cancel the order and get something else. Delivery dates are estimates. Long waits for custom are a very good reason to buy used or stock for your first rig (or for anybody who needs/wants it now).
  13. I got twice the amount of financial aid that I was expecting for this semester. So for those US residents who paid their taxes last year - thank you so much for my sweet new Sony Vaio laptop.
  14. Come up on Friday. Why? Cuz that's the only day I'm gonna be there.
  15. Don't forget to add some seam allowance.
  16. You're right. I'd forgotten about that incident. Plus I was assuming the OP wanted to do a "real" skydive and not a carnival ride...
  17. What are the winds doing when it happens? Does it only happen when you land in a particular area?
  18. Monterey would be a long drive from Fremont. But you could do some touristy stuff on the way to and from - there's a great aquarium in Monterey and you could take highway 1 along the coast for at least part of the drive. I've never jumped there but I've heard that the view is awesome. If you want to see different places, meet new people and log a jump at a new dz and you can take the whole day to do it, I'd suggest Monterey... or the dz I jump at, Skydance in Davis. If you can't take the whole day, I'd suggest Byron. Regardless, enjoy your trip to the correct coast!
  19. They don't work real well for that. Not that I'd know.
  20. Dammit. I was almost ready to have another kid so I could take advantage of their service. 50/50 chance of having a girl, sell her for $75k after getting a good 10 years of household labor out of her... that's better odds than the lottery!
  21. I don't recall any incidents involving students at Cross Keys, but I could be wrong. They've had a few incidents involving experienced jumpers, but incidents involving experienced skydivers at a dz do not indicate that the student program at that dz is in any way unsafe.
