  1. I only know US pricing; dunno if that will help you. Assuming perfect condition, I'd figure roughly $1000 container, $1000 main, $1000 Cypres; can't really estimate a value on the reserve without knowing the d.o.m. That said, you will regret not having a rig if you intend to keep jumping. Sell this one and replace it with something that is older and worth less? Perhaps. But don't go back to rental gear.
  2. 12.5:0:0 Hiked a total of 12.5 miles; 7.5 in Mt Tamalpais state park on Sat (1200 feet up and down) and 5 on the Marin headlands on Sun (another 1200 feet up and down). Saw some absolutely incredible views of SF, Sausalito, Angel Island, Alcatraz, the Farallons, and the Golden Gate, Bay and San Rafael bridges. Typical of my dumbass self, I forgot to check the batteries in the still camera before we left so all we got was video. Showed up at the dz hoping to get a sunset load in Sunday but they'd been winded out all day. So I had a beer instead.
  3. If you haven't read the books then it doesn't matter at all. Move along, nothing to see here. It does matter to that small segment of the population who got into the books enough to wonder/speculate about the characters "lives" beyond what the author put in the books.

First one is from a recent day hike. Second is me on top of Snow Mountain.
  5. Enjoy! It's a beautiful drive, I spent damn near 20 years living within a block or two of highway 1. But please, be nice to the locals and pull the fuck over when you get more than 3 cars behind you on the two lane sections. Oh, and Hearst Castle is worth the time and money.
  6. When I was a kid they'd just pull the fire alarm.
  7. I'd have mentioned that but I figured it was a given.
  8. Dunno if it's stronger, I just know it works better for me than Darvocet does. Especially in conjunction with a Soma (or other muscle relaxant).
  9. Soma + Vicodin = backache? What backache?
  10. My English comp class got out 40 minutes early tonight. Not because the teacher was feeling generous or anything like that. Because a bomb threat was called in for the building. They let us know immediately; we quietly packed up our stuff and left the building. I'd already walked a half a block away by the time the first police car arrived (lights, no siren). Haven't heard an explosion yet so hopefully it was just a prank. So how was your Monday?
  11. Glad your first trip was a good one! Where/what's next?
  12. >1:3:0 One giggly girly two way on Saturday. One freeflail two way followed by some proximity flying under canopy (I suck) and one tracking dive that I hung a right and bailed out of at 10 grand cuz I like landing on the dropzone on Sunday. Had my best landing yet on this canopy... and nobody got it on video.
  13. Some people have more money than sense. It's good to help them fix that imbalance.
  14. Back in the day we jumped big slow F111 canopies with Dacron lines. By the time the lines needed replacing, the canopy was either sold to a broke newbie who didn't know any better or retired to become a car cover or wall hanging. We don't all jump big F111 canopies with Dacron lines anymore. We get less drag by using different materials for lines; the tradeoff is that those lines don't last (stay in trim, don't break) the way Dacron does.
  15. Four pages of essay due on Monday. Two chapters of stats review due on Tuesday. Four chapters of history and two chapters of geography to be read by Tuesday. Not that I'm going to get any of that done today, but it's a good excuse to not be at the dz until later. When it warms up a bit.
  16. Don't forget that the 25th is silver. So pay for your jumps with quarters.
  17. Happy fucking birthday asshole. I'll get laid for you tonight.
  18. There's a dz flying a PAC in Minden.
  19. A rule of thumb - Take what you can buy a new one for, subtract $100 then subtract another $1 for each jump on it. That gives you a starting point for negotiation. Adjust the price downward according to the condition of the lines, where it was jumped (canopies jumped in desert areas tend to show "age" faster than canopies jumped in greener places), how much you like the buyer, how bad you need the money, etc.
  20. A big group of Seattleites were our neighbors up in Byron Heights. Hoping against hope that none of them were on that plane... but I think I know better... BSBD.
  21. 3:1:0 3 miles of hiking Sunday morning. 1200 feet up, 1200 feet down. 1 way fun 2 way Sunday afternoon.
