After closing an F-18 head box with a C-9 in it my out look is always positive. It happens to be more rigger friendly than a Reflex. PS: I'll leave the young riggers to you. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

They are classified as "Emergency Parachute Assembly". A certificated parachute assembly worn for emergency, unpremeditated us only. As riggerob posted, most are subject to the same testing as other assemblies. All test programs leave out those tests that do not apply to the system being tested. You would not test and Emergency Parachute Assembly using all the same tests you would for a "Dual Harness reserve parachute assembly. I said most because there are many pilots rigs out there that are surplus military rigs. They fall under Part 105.3 I hope this helps. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Question 6. 105.3____ Definitions. For the purposes of this part— Approved parachute means a parachute manufactured under a type certificate or a Technical Standard Order (C–23 series), or a personnel-carrying U.S. military parachute (other than a high altitude, high speed, or ejection type) identified by a Navy Air Facility, an Army Air Field, and Air Force-Navy drawing number, an Army Air Field order number, or any other military designation or specification number. Very good point. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

So do I, and no it's not. It does take some technique and a bit of learning. I'm sure, if you're interested in learning a bit, someone near you could help you out with it. Learning never stops...saying it's hard just means you haven't got all the tricks lined up yet! What ever you say. I say it is not a rigger friendly design and I chose not to pack them. Having put in my 30 years and now being retired has some advantages. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

There is more to it than that. TSO-C23d is a 2-page document and does not spell out any required tests or testing methods. AS8015-Rev. B is an 11 page document and covers everything from “average peak force measured” the definition of a “Reserve static line”. There are no “sports” rigs. There are 3 “Types” of system. 1. Single harness reserve parachute assembly. 2. Emergency parachute assembly. 3. Dual harness reserve parachute assembly. Now take all that shit and pitch it. Stick with what I was posting about. Part 105.43. The wording sucks. It says if you are using a single harness dual parachute system. Read it again and show me where it says you must. The wording sucks, it is weak and will be a problem somewhere down the road. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

You ever wonder why most rigger tools are hand made by the rigger? Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Don't put words in my mouth. You have no idea what I believe. I just posted what was part of the current Part 105. I then said it was something to think about. Just don't do my thinking for me. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Soft housings were just that, a fashion statement. It was not new technology, it did not improve anything. If it does not improve function or safety why do it? Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

I have got one I use on Strong rigs, type 4 with grommets, but I have found that the best way to handle a Reflex is just say "No" Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
-
You are trolling this question in other treads. The way you describe is something from the old days. It does not work with a collapsible PC, which must be attached to the canopy. Now you know what the grommet is good for. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

I know how to pack thank you, and yes it that hard. Collapse the PC while flopping the rig over to pull the T-bokin out and not trapping the pull cord or the closing loop in the spring coils. It is way over engineered, for little or no gain. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

The larger PC will have some effect on the felt snatch force but none on opening shock. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

cutaway charges for rented gear
mjosparky replied to flyuphi99's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
He paid for a rental rig which 1) he should have inspected, 2) he could have repacked, 3) he could have paid a packer to repack, 4) he could have had an experienced rigger inspect .... Now, if he did hire a rigger to inspect AND get a packer to repack it AND it still malfunctioned, he STILL assumes all responsibility and has to replace the equipment. If you don't like it, buy your own gear or don't jump. YOU are soley responsible for YOUR skydive He didn't have the reserve inspected or repacked, why should he do it to a main that he rented. If it was packed when he got it, Part 105.43(a) says it was packed by a rigger or under the direct supervision of a rigger. Any problem on deployment would be on the rentee. Kris, I am not an instructor, but I think he would be better off going AFF. After Airborne and time in Iraq, a tandem would be a let down. JMO Benny, Shame on you, drunk at 9:40 in the morning? Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

"Subpart C—Parachute Equipment and Packing§ 105.41 Applicability. This subpart prescribed rules governing parachute equipment used in civil parachute operations. § 105.43 Use of single-harness, dual-parachute systems. No person may conduct a parachute operation using a single-harness, dual-parachute system, and no pilot in command of an aircraft may allow any person to conduct a parachute operation from that aircraft using a single-harness, dual-parachute system, unless that system has at least one main parachute, one approved reserve parachute, and one approved single person harness and container that are packed as follows: This is the wording in Part 105 as of May 9, 2001. It says if a single-harness, dual-parachute system is used it must comply with the following. It does not say that a single-harness, dual-parachute system must be used. It says "any person..........from that aircraft using". This could open a whole new bag of worms. Something to think about. Maybe some input from the legal minds? I know everything about what I'm wearing on my back before I get on the plane, and I never assume that anyone is looking out for my best interest. This attitude will probably allow you to live to a ripe old age. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Bill, Thank you for your appreciation of the good that this country has done and continues to do. I think the willingness to give and help when needed is a large part of the "American way". It always seemed strange to me that people who have left their own country behind to live in the USA, find nothing but fault with it. You would think if the "American way" was you distasteful to them, they would leave. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Richard, I will be there Sat. but in the mean time, Elsinore will miss you. You bring your smile and up-beat ways to the students you work with. That makes for happy newbies. I will miss seeing you too. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

The only way to get a reflex pop top to "snuggle" down is to have 3 hands and drive a car over it. That said, your post was very well put and just about covers it. Thanks, Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
