Where's Bill Ottley - Respect your skydiving elders!

I gotta admit, the Meatloaf flavored Ice Cream was pretty good. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals -
Tonto's horse's name was Scout. Tommy Owens was Don Henderson's (SCR-007) first born illegitimate child. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

They were in an inverted flat spin without power. Same thing killed Art Shole(sp) during the filming of the scene. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Thanks Dom. Sometimes we need a good kick in the ass to remember these kids and those of you who used to be these kids. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

You didn't lose the bonehead, it ran away from that jumpsuit. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Chuck, Shame on you. From Neptune manual: "Lay the hand mount across the back of the Neptune and put the metal backplate on top of it." Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

It allows the bridle to pass through the bag and attach to the canopy. The one you describe sounds like a loop on the inside of the bag that the canopy attaches to and the loop on the outside of the bag is for attaching the bridle. The advantage I can see for this method is you eliminate the metal and the chance of the canopy getting caught between the bridle and grommet. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

I did not mean to start a pissing contest. I pointed out that the body of the post did not mention "new riggers". My point being all riggers should pay attention when working on someone's rig. Being that yourself and PhreeZone are not riggers, you should make sure your rigger, new or experienced, does the job his is paid to do. That is to re-certify your rig for 120 more days, and that means checking everything. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

You can bet your paycheck on that. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

I could not find any reference to "new riggers" or "experienced riggers" in the original post. Just the fact that things had been left undone for several "reserve repacks." Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Yeah, I heard that. That's really too bad . . . I was on a test with him once and considered him a really great guy to work with. I worked with Taz on several test over China Lake. He sure comes in handy moving 375 pound torso dummies to the door. Sparky PS: Did you ever work out of a civilian King Air (blue)? My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

The seat is not "100 pounds", it is 100 kilos. That is 220 pounds. Every pound in any airplane is a big deal. All seats produced today work well at low altitudes. The Russian seat is probably the best as I said before. And as I said before, the system used in the Sukhoi31/29 is not a ejection seat. It is a ballisticly deployed parachute that extracts the pilot. The whole purpose of an ejection seat is to get the pilot clear of the aircraft before the canopy deploys. At speeds above 250/275 I doubt that the pilot will survive. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

But Taz is in jail now. I believe a HALO (high altitude, low opening) is considered high enough to require O2 such as the use of bail out bottles. (twin 53's) Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

I am fully aware of that. I have spent the last several years working with ejection seats and seat modifications. What I said was the video does not look like the Sukhoi was using an ejection seat, but ballisticly fired canopy. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Thanks Paul, but I think there a some guys on DZ.com that could show me a few things. Lou Diamond and SkymonkeyOne come to mind. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

You are right, the Russians do make the best seat, but it is very heavy. A few years ago 2 Russian migs had a mid air at the Paris air show at less then 300 feet and both survived. The video looks like a ballistic deployed parachute and not a seat. I don't see a seat leaving the plane. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

thats the same seat that killed Goose!!!!! The seat didn't kill Goose, the movie director did. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Hasarrd, The size and condition of the PC affects weather it can lift the canopy and bag off at the sub-terminal speeds. Big guy, I will check yours out tomorrow and if it looks bad I have another with me. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

This means you can't be doing 600 KEAS, inverted and only 50 feet off the deck. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

The F-18 uses the NACES seat. Check this site. http://www.tpub.com/asm/32.htm It doesn't happen often but when it does it is nice to have the equipment. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

That is an early Piglet rig and it looks like it was built for other than a Piglet reserve. Maybe a 26' navy. Until you get you "Cutaway goggle system" perfected I will continue to ridicule your pathetic efforts at R&D. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals -
With out seeing the canopy and the the damage, there is not way to give a rough estimate. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Darcy, Due to a commitment to a sick friend I will not make it to Perris tomorrow. But there should be some friends of mind there, after all it is Air Trash day. Ask around for Air Trash and ask to jump with them. It adds a new meaning to "Fear Factor". Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

From a high alt mal when do you cut away?
mjosparky replied to aspiff120's topic in Safety and Training
One thing you should keep in mind. Reserve canopies are packed to open quick. The higher you are the quicker they will open. Quicker equals higher opening forces and higher opening forces can lead to damage on opening. There is no cut and dry answer to your question. There are many factors that can affect the out come.
