  1. It is hard to tell for the small area of the canopy in the picture. Stand back some and see if you can get a picture of part of the canopy stretched out, from skirt to apex. Michael My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  2. I wonder why someone would focus on 9 words out of Denton's statement and ignore the main point of what he was saying. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  3. Yea, what he said. Advise anyone who brings a rig with soft housing on it to you for a repack to have them changed out. A good test is to ask yourself,"Do they improve the rig in any way?". If not, why have them. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  4. Thats still a violation of the vehicle code, read infraction, not the penal code. You can loose you lic. and pay a big fine but they don't throw you in jail. A misdemeanor is a crime punishable buy up to one year in jail. (I think) Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  5. Rich, That sucks. But I think if you check it out speeding is an infraction of the vehicle code not a crime as in the penal code. Infractions, misdemeanors and felonys. Maybe Lawrocket can jump in. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  9. Jeff, My first reserve was a 26' navy and if he blew it up it had to be obvious it was trash. They were build hell for stout. Some people just have to learn the hard way. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  11. Pulled Down Apex. But I'm not a rigger, so I may not have a very good understanding of the proper terminology. What's the difference between a pulled down apex and a pulled down vent line? Or, more accurately, what's a vent line? A pull down vent line is just that, a line that pulls the canopy vent down like you see on a Para Commander. Pulling the vent down during a low speed situation reduces fill time and the canopy opens faster. By rigging it with a weak link it does not affect high speed openings. Sometimes used in ejection seat canopies. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  18. I have be jumping almost 30 years and have seen this happen just 2 times. If this is a regular thing for you or at you home DZ, you need to find the root cause and make some changes. In any case it should be delt with very conservatively, your PC and endanger the entire plane. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  20. Actually, I've tried to lend out some older equipment to some broke people, with no luck at all. Seems some folks would rather not jump or continue paying to rent gear than to have to jump something that isn't shiny and new and zp and freefly friendly. Skydiving used to be a sport, now it is a recreation. Pretty colors and a packer. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

The assist device must— (1) Be long enough to allow the main parachute container to open before a load is placed on the device. (2) Have a static load strength of— (i) At least 28 pounds but not more than 160 pounds if it is used to aid the pilot chute in performing its function; or (ii) At least 56 pounds but not more than 320 pounds if it is used to aid in the direct deployment of the main parachute canopy; and (3) Be attached as follows: (i) At one end, to the static line above the static-line pins or, if static-line pins are not used, above the static-line ties to the parachute cone. (ii) At the other end, to the pilot chute apex, bridle cord, or bridle loop, or, if no pilot chute is used, to the main parachute canopy. (b) No person may attach an assist device required by paragraph (a) of this section to any main parachute unless that person is a certificated parachute rigger or that person makes the next parachute jump with that parachute. (c) An assist device is not required for parachute operations using direct-deployed, ram-air parachutes. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  23. Its not the rig, it just the main canopy. It is a MT-1Z. Made by Para-Flite, it has a ZP top skin and comes in two sizes. 308 sq. ft rated at 360 pounds, main or reserve. 370 sq. ft. rated at 450 pounds as main only. Sparky My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
