1:2:1 Bitchin' AFF dive with an arial stunt pilot who wanted to learn canopy control and landing if she ever needed to use it. Cool demo jump into the Calfornia Speedway with 15 of my friends. Dunking of a very good friend as he owed beer for his first PRO jump! (see attached) ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Yes, they did...also another loving term they tried out was "Bone-Saw-Gang". They would have used either of the two, but the broadcaster who was interviewing them didn't like either name, so they came up with "Pieces of 8" instead. btw, if there are any members out there that you know, let them know that we're tentatively planning an October, 2004 record attempt at Perris next year. Dates still to be announced. New members being accepted at that time as well! Stay tuned...and contact me for any information you need or have. The membership is still growing! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Some swoop pics from this weekend - 9/20/03
ltdiver replied to quade's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Yeah, that was the most awesome sunset swoop I'd ever seen. A group of friends and I were standing at the fence and watched the whole performance....from the time we all thought the tiny specs in the waning light were a trail of white balloons in the sky...to the in-line water toeing swoops. One skydiver remarked, in awe, now -that- was worth the price of admission today! Looking forward to very early mornings and many more shots like this this weekend! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon -

Perhaps Paul hasn't, but I had the unfortunate experience to buy a used video camera that was represented as excellent in condition and operation. When I got it, it looked great but wasn't. The seller denied that it left his possession in that faulty working order. The camera is being repaired right now (at my own expense). ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

That's just it, Chris. They've accepted this doctor's assessment and aren't seeking out a 2nd opinion. That's what has me so upset. Thank you. Perhaps this is the only treatment that will work now. Lori Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Update on Dad. Cardiologist's test revealed an uncontrolled atrial fibrilation and he placed Dad on more medications to help control it. That's all he's going to do for the ailment!! The doctor reported that if any surgical procedure is attempted, the risk of having a stroke it too great. His energy reserve is small, and his activity level is limited more and more. My dad's always been a very active person, who's had no less than 3 businesses running at the same time (even in retirement). As a man of only 18, he already owned and operated 3 successful businesses he started...newspaper, trash service, and personal insurance. These businesses, 52 years later, are STILL in operation (his mom made him sell them 1/2 way through college). If this heart ailment doesn't kill him first, the boredom will. He's only 70, so what's the freakin' deal with -not- doing something to help his heart! Something at least like the procedure that our dear Tim Wagner had...cardiac ablation. Why, when there is 'nothing' you can do to help out, does your life go numb? Lori Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Thanks, friends for your PM's and wonderful supportive messages here. I can feel the warmth and caring. Here's the update on my dad as of tonight. He's stable and has been released to the care of his cardiologist in Portland, OR. He has numerous tests to be performed tomorrow early AM. Neuro stress test, angiogram, etc. Then depending on the outcome, either stay there for continued care, or be released home. Today has been a hard day to concentrate at work, and many phone calls were exchanged. Tomorrow will be some of the same. But we -should- know by the evening (I hope). My parents also thank you for the support and prayers. It meant alot to them when I told them of the good thoughts that had come in here. Keep praying....somehow it seems to be working so far. Wow, thanks guys for the replies! It really helps to see and feel the surrounding of -this- family around mine. No phone calls yet, and this feels both good and bad. What have they found?! Is he o.k.? This wait game sucks. I feel so helpless... Lori Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

I rarely post about personal things, however I got a phone call tonight that my dad was hospitalized today with a heart attack. He became very sick this morning with chest pain and severe nausea. My parents live in Washington, and I'm sitting by the phone in California. Right now he says to just sit tight, tests are being run while they try and figure out what's going on. It's scarey. My grandmother died of a heart attack at 74 and my grandfather of a stroke at 88. Please pray for my dad, as he has always been there for us...in every way....a model father who this family has been very lucky to have. Thanks, Lori Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

If I can swing it, I'll see if I can upload it to the internet this week. I taped it from the TV on VHS, so the quality won't be that good, but the confession still rings in my ears. He got the name "Sparky" when he did absolutely -nothing- to steer clear of the powerlines once his reserve canopy opened. He hit the lines/pole (sparks flying) and fell the rest of the way to the ground in a thud. The power lines are at the far edge of the very northern most part of the Perris DZ and one has to try very hard to hit them...which he did. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
-
Interestingly enough, the last time RealTV had this playing, "Sparky" actually -did- admit his guilt in pulling the cutaway handle and gave credit to his AFFI's for being there, with him, and doing their job. My jaw almost hit the ground when I saw this confession, for the time before when I'd seen RealTV's version, he denied his culpability. Amazing... ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
-
Actually, if this is the man that we 'lovingly' call "Sparky" at Perris, he -did- deploy his own reserve. Cameraflyer, Koji, followed him until the pull, which was at about 1,000' and then deployed his own chute....his main! (Koji landed just fine, thankfully). ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

I've had packers give my canopy a very brisk opening, and most have responded well with slowing my Spectre down nicely when asked (yes, my Spectre likes to be packed other than just the traditional way. It LIKES to open fast). However, the HARDEST openings I ever had with my Spectre was when I put a new pc on it that was too large (or too non-porous). It wacked me GOOD a couple of times, then I put an old pc on the canopy for the rest of the day. My canopy returned to its normal beautiful self again. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Sighting the Concentric Ring Sight using a Mirror
ltdiver replied to quade's topic in Photography and Video
That would seem to be the case, however the way the cervical spine is made it bends forward and backward alot more readily, without the stress on the spine. If it gets jerked sideways it damages alot more structures. Believe me, I've had hard openings with my camera gear on and all I've gotten was a sore neck for a few hours...but when I got T-boned in my car my neck got a direct sideways whiplash and I'm -still- paying the price for it. The skeletal popping is unnerving. I -now- have ulnar nerve damage that was caused directly from this motor vehicle accident. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon -

Talked to the bytch yesterday AM. She's doing great, but found out that Huston's rush hour traffic is from HELL and worse than LA rush hour traffic could EVER be. Oh, and toll roads....well, at least they flow a bit faster... Sigh...I guess she really DID leave us, huh? Take care of her, FL! (or should I say, watch out!! ) ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
