With A Grain Of Salt: Saddam Hussein USPA D-28907
skycat replied to slotperfect's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Are we even that high in D numbers yet? I have D-25740 and just got that last fall. Fly it like you stole it! -
YIPPEE!! *dance around* Can't wait to see you. Fly it like you stole it!

I think they put drugs in those damn cookies, so you can't eat just one.....noooooo.....you have to eat the whole damn box. Fly it like you stole it!

Well due to my department saying no vacations end of June threw Aug, looks like hookie-poo and I might be coming after all, since this makes Lost Prairie a no go. I'll figure out the logistics of driving there this weekend, cause I'm not paying over $500 to fly both of us out there. Fly it like you stole it!

I'd say go for it as long as it wasn't something that she would miss like girl scout cookies....I mean if someone ate my girl scout cookies I'd have to kill them. "Wanna buy some girl scout cookies?"....."Are they made with real girl scouts?" Fly it like you stole it!

You mean it isn't you.?!?!? Fly it like you stole it!

Wing Loading Restrictions? (Skydive Kansas)
skycat replied to weavermc's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Oh my god that is to funny...I'm from the midwest and I was trying to explain to Derek why he shouldn't get so worked up, due to the fact that most of the midwest is rather...ummm..."retro" Fly it like you stole it! -
Maybe I'm jaded, but I see a DZO who is also the S&TA who doesn't want to be bothered having to decide if someone is qualified to fly the canopy that they have. So make a blanket rule, stick with it, and never have to worry about being the bad guy, by telling someone they can't fly thier highly loaded canopy. Fly it like you stole it!

Wing Loading Restrictions? (Skydive Kansas)
skycat replied to weavermc's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Oh you are about to open a can of worms with that one, especially since at the moment I'm not happy with a certain USPA official who gave a DZO back all his ratings even though right in front of that official he broke FARs and BSRs. Fly it like you stole it! -
Wing Loading Restrictions? (Skydive Kansas)
skycat replied to weavermc's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Hey lets put another kink in the machine....Lets say I have the 500 jump magic number and have lets say a velocity 80 which I would load at 1.5, now I'm going to be going a whole heck of a lot faster than lets say aggie on a stiletto (do they make a velocity this big) 190 at 1.5 (I think that is right for his WL). I'm well within any weight limits you can think of, so does this mean that they will start putting a limit on the size of canopy you can fly, meaning nothing smaller than a, oh lets say 105? you couldn't jump there with what you fly now. Fly it like you stole it! -
hmmm....I put my reserve canopy size in the text box, but now the size doesn't show up in the search. Fly it like you stole it!

Well don't feel bad Qwest sells your phone number if you are one of their customers. I lived here about a week and my phone rang constantly with telemarketers. Thank god for the no call list. Now if only I could get one of those for my email address. btw....I hide my address with skycat@jumpergirlnospam.com Fly it like you stole it!

hey what size G3 is it? I had the same thing happen when I used to have a main in it that was VERY tight for the container. The pilot chute would pull then pin but the D-bag was stuck in the container, I'd elbow the container and out it would pop. How did I know the pin was pulled? I looked back and saw the side flap flapping in the wind. Ever since I downsized I haven't had an issue with this. I would definately say Mirages are one rig you do not want to put one size bigger main in. Fly it like you stole it!

More like years later, it's been 3 or 4 years since her 1st surgery (she ended up having both knees done). This was the 1st time that she really messed it up again, but she has been back snowboarding(2 week later) and skydiving (3 weeks later) since it happends. I have bad knees also, but it's not due to my ACL, rather the ligaments that hold my knee caps in place. My advice is wear your brace, an once of prevetion is worth even the chance of re-injuring it. I've managed to avoide surgery this way, I wear braces snowboarding, and skydiving I wear them if the ground is slippery (i.e. just rained, snow on the ground). As for being better than new......well so far everyone I've talk to(including doctors) has said that while it is better than what it was before the surgery it is never as good as a knee that wasn't injured. On the other hand, if you keep in shape, (being over weight is the worst thing you can do to your knees) and listen to your body you should be able to do anything you could before you were injured, although you may want to take it easy on the jumps while skiing from now on. As for you canopy size...I really recommend upsizing to a 1.2-1.3 WL then working your way back to 1.9, listen to your body it will tell you if it can run that fast on those no wind days. Mine told me 1.2 in CO was the smallest for me. Fly it like you stole it!

*hugs* and *love* from Derek, Foxy, Mem and Me. You are in our thoughts and hearts. Fly it like you stole it!

Yep, that would be much better, since I'm in the same boat neither my main or my reserve are listed. Fly it like you stole it!

Hey maybe you can talk my Bob into taking the 182 or 206 up there also....then I wouldn't have to drive 20 hrs. Fly it like you stole it!
-
I have a good friend that tore that and a few others snowboarding, I'll ask her tonight how long it took to recover from surgery. I do know though that she has to wear braces on every skydive for landing. She didn't for 1 jump a few weeks ago, slipped and really damaged it again. So a word of warning, you knee will probably never be 100% again and you should talk to your doctor about getting a brace for it as soon as you are ready for normal activities. Fly it like you stole it!

They sent Derek the line trim for his VX 60 a year or so ago. Fly it like you stole it!

Call skydive Houston, Mike Smith is the DPRE down there. Fly it like you stole it!

He could be right, especially if the lineset has 800 jumps on it. Around here people seem to love their F-111 but it seems in the 400 jump area the canopies are loosing thier *umpf*. Flare barely stops the forward movement and doesn't really stop the downward movement. So try and talk him into demoing a sabre2 150 for a few weekends, then he would get a feel for the "PD flare" and if he really is haveing problems with his body possition on opening, it would come out on a canopy that won't bite him in the tush. Fly it like you stole it!

I was thinking....if this is student gear with a ripcord, you could be having a hard pull causing you to twist your body in an odd way. Fly it like you stole it!
-
Actually if you are tracking correctly you should actually be going slower than your normal freefall speeds. So that when you come out of a track you start to speed up rather than slow down. As for line twists many things can cause them. If this is your own rig, you may want to start packing for yourself so you can change things one at a time to figure out if just need more excess line in the bottom of the container or if you need to get your rigger to mod your D-bag so the stows are on the top flap rather than the sides. If this is rental gear the only thing you can control is your own body possition. See the following article on how to prevent line twists. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=86247#86247 Fly it like you stole it!
