Ya know...How about the fact that he supports terroism? He pays 25,000 to the families of suicide bombers. He paid 35,000 to the family of the bomber that killed the 4 US service members. How much would he pay to put a Nuke on US soil? I can't see waiting to see if he does it....He would if he could. His troops are fighting with terror tactics...hiding behind civilians, and faking a surender just to gun down the troops that come to get them. I don't like the fact we are at war, but we were anyway. At least we are open about it. Ron "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

Read what I wrote...I don't think it is any of my buissness what you do in your house...when your shit starts comming out of your yard into mine, or anyone elses it becomes our problem. So thats why I think we need to do something about Saddam....Hey if his own people will put up being killed...fine...If they don't like it..then revolt. But he ignores the UN resolutions, and does not play well with the rest of the world...So thats why I am glad we are doing something. Like I said I like Kurt, BUT he is a major peace activist...What part of that don't you get? I like peace like the next guy, but I am not going to let you walk on me to ensure it.... A. you don't know Kurt.... B. You think that it is really news worthy? Kurt is a good man, but he is a MAJOR peace activist. Nothing wrong with that, but would this story be news? It is his website, and he can put whatever he wants on it. But it is an example of how the media will report the "news" with a spin on it to make the news. And to support whatever they feel is right. Well, I am anti-war..... I was in the Army....I didn't like the idea of war...Now I'm out...I still don't like the idea of war. However its needed. Kurt put something on his site...And I had to respond to him and it. His is at www.skyleague.com in the news section.... My reply was sent in Email to him and follows: I don't care about them throwing a hissy fit....All they are hurting is themselves. I don't think war is needed most of the time....and having served in the Army I have a larger respect than most who have not been willing to stand a wall with a gun. Saddam is an evil man....With ties to International terrorism. His people have been murdered and oppresed for so long....Now I believe it is not the place of the United States, or any country to police the world...I feel that a goverment should be free to run itself...and treat its people anyway they want...This includes Saddams right to murder his own people, tourture children to get information for the parents, and yes even build weapons of mass destruction. If the people of Iraq wish to be rid of him, let them overthrow him... Now...While I do believe in a nations sovern rights......When they start to threaten the peace of several other nations, they should be delt with. The United Nations FAILED at this....They passed a resolution. And when it was ignored...The asked for more time...And when it was given...They still did nothing when he was found not following the rules. Someone HAS to step in....Terrorism effects the world. Think about all of the truely inocent people that have died due to terror attacks, men, women and children....The 3,000 at the WTC on 9-11-01 was just the largest to date. Thousands of people have died, and there is only one way to deal with this kind of violence. I regret that this action had to be taken. But I feel as does a large portion of the people in the world feel it needed to be done. I also regret that the UN has shown that it has no power, and is afraid to follow the rules it laid out. Yes inocent people will die. I am sorry for that. But this action will allow more inocent people to live. I also feel that this web site is a poor place for such disscusion of politics...I personally don't care the Swiss are not comming to America. If they are the Swiss team, maybe they should train there, and not rely on the United States and its freedom that was bought with blood for their training needs. Ah don't worry. I don't know how it is where you are from, but the most they could do is ticket you for "Driving like an ass".... And since THEY didn't see it...It would not have held up. He tried to scare you...and it worked. The problem is you admitted to it. I know about Mustangs and V-8's starting trouble. I had a Sabre 107.....It would be very "positive" on opening. I made sure my line stows were correct...guess what? Still "positive" on opening.... I Rolled the tail...again, not much better. I rolled 4 in 4....Very nice. I will always roll 4 in...Hell I do it on my Stiletto, and on the Velocity. (However I don't Stuff the nose on these, just roll them in.) Galaxy from Alti-2. I have 4 of them. Very solid piece of equipment. Service from them is great. Easy to replace lens. They are heavier than the FT-50, but that's not a big deal. Have You Ever Gone Low INTENTIONALLY?
Ron replied to murrays's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Well three times I have been slider down at 500 feet. One on accident twice it was planned. I used to pull at 1200-1500 feet for a few years. Lowest exit 800 Military SL. Lowest FF 1500 Demo jump. happens a lot... Most DZ's will let you do it as long as you are not taking the customers from them. The DZ, still gets the lift ticket money. I have done this before, an Zhills lets me do it. Me....I always check my handles before climb out....Now like a freak. 8 way chunk...Joe Trinko was coaching us. The dive went well, we broke a little early due to the spot being not so great.....I also pulled a little higher due to the bad spot. The bag spun off of my back, into instant line twists....Bonus!!!! It was also already in the Stiletto death spiral!!!! Having had a few of these before I opted to "go plan B". I went for my handles.....Oh Shit!!!! Where is my Cutaway handle!!!! It was there when I bought the rig, it should still be there. I pulled the risers apart enough to squeaze my head through. Looked down...and sure enough no handle (Army folks start humming Blood on the Risers.....Looked for my ripcord, the handle was gone!) It had tucked between my harness and between some of the lead vest I was wearing. I tried to get at it, but it was wedged quite nicley! I could not get it above the handle either. Well I tried to get it with my right... tried with my left... Tried with my feet... I even tried it with my teeth..... I tried to get it from the front.... Tried to get it from the back..... Tried to get it here... Tried to get it there... Tried to get it anywhere (Sorry DR. Suess) Anyway....I thought I was dead....no shit dead. I thought about just pulling the reserve....(Blood on the Risers again gang...) So I was kinda pissed...Here I am gonna die. Damn this sucks. Oh well...At 500 feet I am gonna pull the reserve....allow the reserve to inflate, probley entangle...And I am gonna die a painful death in (Army folks...) roll around in my own gore...I ain't gonna jump no more. Somewhere around 800 feet I thought.....Well this is gonna suck....If it were not for these $##$%@#$%@^$% Gloves!!!! Quick check of the rapidly aproaching ground....Hell, I have time, I'll take off these gloves!!!! Grand idea if I do say so myself. So I peel the velcro off of my right glove, and feel for the handle....Altitude...well LOW AS HELL!!!! Find the handle, pull it. Cat roll to the relative wind...(Which is horizontal right now). And a gunslinger reserve pull. Canopy out....now oh shit, I have to land this thing in a tight area. 12 second canopy ride. Anyway. I get my main and freebag (which are ENTANGLED RSL beat that!!!!) and a ride back to the DZ from some people just driving by. I walk by Derrick Thomas, Mike Truffer, and Ron Andre. Derick: "That was not a hard cutaway was it?" Me: "Nope handle was tucked". Derrick: "Whew, Good" Truffer" I think you could have kicked out of it." Me: "Fuck you Truffer". I walk into the debrief room...Everyone is watching the video of my cutaway....NOT ONE PERSON CAME TO GET ME THE @#$%@#$^@%^. Trinko was even giving a blow by blow description of events to everyone. What not to do (how the Aggie almost died)
Ron replied to AggieDave's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Well I had my cutaway tucked under my harness. It was fine on climb out, but it must have been tucked on exit (8way chunk)...This is one reason I hate soft handles for the reserve...I have had a soft handle tuck under. As it was....I knew I was LOW....I also knew that a reserve would come out in 600 feet. (A CYPRES fires at 750 at TERMINAL). I was going to pull the silver handle at 500 feet no matter what. I didn't want an entanglement, so since I was above my new, just made up hard, deck of 500 feet. I cut away.....By the way I had to take off my glove to find the handle...And I landed with both handles...and the glove. If a person is holding back a group, I have no problem cutting them. It is about the group. Not the individual. I would work on getting them to a same skill level group, and not cut them publicly...But in an 8 way I have 6 others to think about. If a person is dangerous..I have no problem cutting them....Again, I would talk to them and explain why....and offer to work on it. But I would not put them, or anyone else in harms way. So yes cutting happens on ALL size groups. Not just big ways. Ron "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

Zhills has I think the lowest cost Jump tickets for the average joe.... They thought about raising the lift ticket fees, then still pay the LO, but that would be funding a program by everyone that not everyone uses....This way only the people who use the LO's pay for the LO's... I think its fair, and it works well...I don't charge when I LO, but I have job, and make some extra money as a 4way coach and I coach in the tunnel. Its a good program....you are always free to get your own group going. You don't have to use the LO's... Don't you think that these guys should be able to make a living? Most people don't mind paying for video, but they don't like to pay for a LO???? It's a dollar....geeze....What can I get for a dollar? Well other than a 20 min phone call with 10-10-2-20? (I was wishing that hot chick for the commerical whould show up....still waiting............and still waiting) DAMN! Ron "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

You might be talking about Zhills. I can only explain Zhills anyway. The DZ used to pay the LO's 5 bucks a jump...Some like me used that to get a pack job, or on slower days I would by a few cases of beer. Thee managment stoped paying the LO's....Well, as you can imagine some of the LO's insted of organizing chose to do AFF, or Tandems....Most of the LO's were professional skydivers that jumped for a living. Some like Steve Lapp made his winter money being a LO....This hurt them, and some commented that they need to make some money to live on. Some started coaching more, some packed...almost none could afford to LO, without some money comming in. So this plan came up.....Its an old plan done at many boogies (What do you think the boogie fees are for?). Each person who wanted to get organized could buck up a dollar. This way the LO could still be a professional LO, with out the DZ having to raise jump tickets for everyone...even those that didn't use the LO. Seems a good idea, and it does work.... As for asking to dive insted of float....Well, you can always ask...It is the LO's job to challenge the group...Just don't screw up, or you may be placed back in the base, or even cut. What other DZ's have you been to? Ron "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

What not to do (how the Aggie almost died)
Ron replied to AggieDave's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Well a Velocity is alot easier to get out of.... Most of mine have been under Stilettos. Once they start to dive...for the most part its over....I would rather tell people to get rid of it...Its a mal...Than tell them to work on it like Dave did. Dave was lucky as hell. He blew right by his "Hard Deck". One more spiral, and the out come most likley would be changed....If he had cut it as soon as it dove....Guess what? Barring a Reserve Mal, we could give him a much better chance of success. Ron "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
