And if you start out trying to help, and they act like an asshole to you since they think they know better than you...then what do you do? When I taught Martial Arts....I'd demonstrate why I had a Black Belt and they had a green. I'd never hurt them, but I would show them that when I say "keep your guard up!" I knew what I was saying. I have jumped a Stiletto 107, Vengence 107, Velocity 96,90, Specter 107, Crossfire 105?, Jedei 93?, 105? Extreme 88 and 69, and a Cobalt 105 all with the same rig,bag and pilot chute set up... Only the Extreme 88, and the Cobalt opened like shit....The Extreme BTW was a test canopy back in 96, so I kinda expected it to open like shit...The Cobalt was a Demo. Why did all the other canopies (almost all considered to be high performance) open great with the same set up, but only the test canopy and the demo Cobalt opened hard? No, it FLEW great, but opened like shit. And if most conversations about Cobalts go in one direction...Maybe there is a reason? Where there is smoke, there is fire. I never had to earn the love of any other piece of skydiving equipment....Im not about to start now. Because it was a design problem, and a smaller PC is a bandaid to fix it. Just like bigger or pocket sliders are bandaids to fix a design or construction problem Be very leary of any company that makes you change a part of your system to make up for a bad design in in their part of the system. You do spend way to much time on here to know all that...It took me and another DZ.commer over 5 min to even find that other name. Anyone know how to delete an screen name? I think I used the term experience....Not jump Numbers.... But for the most part SKYDIVING experience can only be gained by SKYDIVING..Which means jump #'s and time in sport. So I would rather a student get told canopy control from an instructor with 1000 jumps than you when you had 100. Yep, I don't think someone with 100 jumps should be giving advice....I really don't think that someone with 100 jumps and that has been kicked off a DZ for canopy control should be giving canopy advice. Is it true you lied at ZHills about what canopy you were jumping? Does not matter at less than 100 jumps and with your canopy history you might not want to give advice...Its this kind of attitude that leads folks to call people 100 jump wonders....Here you are a person with 100 jumps, that has been kicked of at least one DZ for canopy control issues (And bad enough that that DZ felt they need to call other DZ's to warn them) arguing with a guy with 1400 jumps about canopy control. Maybe you were not the best person to give advice in this matter? But maybe you should not give advice given your history...And maybe you should not argue with folks that have more experience than you? If the DZ thought it was bad enough to call other DZ's to warn them...Then I would think it was bad enough...Actually The event does not seem to be the problem. It might be how you reacted to it. I have never seen a DZ kick someone off for making a mistake, unless they had an attitude when they were talked to about it. From 900 feet I can land in just about any direction I want. How were you not able to enter a normal pattern from 900 feet? Honestly I don't know...But again if a DZ kicks you off, then feels like they should warn others....And I really want to know if you lied at Zhills about your canopy. Anytime you do or say something stupid, and act like you know what you are doing and ignore advice from people with more experience....You are a XXX-jump wonder. So it never does end, till the know it all attitude ends. I have 3,000 jumps don't take 1,000 jumps from me here. Who said I don't resect folks with 300 jumps? A pilot chute is part of the container....Not the parachute. I would go with what the manufactorer recomends...It is the set up that they tested the system with....And changes to that setup, and you become a new test jumper. This is my big problem with Cobalts....I put a few jumps on a 105, and while it flew great, it opened hard as hell. When I talked to the rep about it...He told me I needed a new PC....I asked him why since it worked great with my Stiletto, and was part of the container, not the parachute....He told me that it would be fine to jump a smaller PC...And I gave him the canopy back. Any canopy that requires different components than other same size/type of canopy...Has issues... A different PC or bigger slider is lame fix to a design problem. Of course, but you know that.... What makes a XXX-jump wonder is when you think your knowlegde is so great that you don't listen. Yes, it kills me when new jumpers run around telling people that they jump...then trying to get the whuffos to go with them to the DZ....Hell I did it, I think we all did. We try to get them to experience this sport...But all we do is piss them off. When you skydive for you, and only you....When it is something you do, and not a definiton of who you are. Well thats cause you would not call them a jump wonder...you would call them a skygod. However skygod is an insult, 300 jump wonder is a description But the simple fact is that a bunch of folks think they have more experience than they do. And when these people act that they are labled as a XXXX-jump wonder. I don't use it as an insult....I just use it cause its true. When I landed from my 100th jump. My best friend walked up to me and said "Congrats Ronnie. We still all think you are gonna die.
