  3. Yes dear we have had this disscussion before, and I agree....You are a good example of that. However the basic principals of the political parties are pretty close to that, and these threads often get boiled down to this anyway. "Bush is a war monger after money, Republicans only care about buisness" "Clinton was more interested in getting hummers in the oval office than running the country, Democrats are interested in giving away my money to crack heads" Hell I kinda like Lieberman (not enough to find out how to spell his name). He has values and sticks to them. But I believe in having a strong defense, and that if corporations do well the employees of those places will do well. There were times in this countries past were there was a need to take care of the people with social programs...And FDR did a great job. Sometimes the canidate gets hurt by being in a party....I think of myself as Republican, but I support a womens right to chose...Because of that I could not be supported by many "hard line" Republicans. 4. You are cool because you are cool, not because you do something that is cool. If you are skydiving to try and be "cool" or if you are skydiving to try to impress others...You are an idiot. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  5. Old pilot adage "It takes two to collide, only one to avoid" "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  6. Dems like to give away the farm to lazy people. Reps like to try and make it so you can build the farm.... I like the Reps. I like what I have and don't want to give it to some lazy perso aon welfare so they can buy new kicks. 7. Bad intel happens. Always has and always will. No my issue is that maybe, just maybe Bush didn't lie...And that he was fed bad intel info. The lefties want to claim he lied and that this is a war about oil. Clinton lied. Yep we gave them to him...We also trained OBL...But the simple fact is that the UN told him to prove he destroyed them..And he never did. So we had to assume that he still had them. You in the military???? There is a building down at MacDill AFB that has plans for invading, attacking and Defending hundreds of countries. There are also plans on how to retake several key buildings around the world. Point is we have people with stars on their collars whos job it is to make plans incase we need them....Some of them are really far fetched, some are very real....And after 9/11 they were ALL dusted off. 8. Looked didn't see him. He left after us, I had a really cool spinning break fire opening so I was lower than planned, but had plenty of time to set up a normal pattern. He was not anywhere near me when I set up in my pattern. (I can only guess he was shadowing me above me the whole time.) Its a case of a guy that felt he need to get his swoop on, everyone else be damned. He didn't respect the low guy has the right of way. I was the 3rd to land, 1st group out. A Velocity 96 and a higher loaded Stilletto from my group preceded me. One from my group was not down when he and I landed. Maybe I could have looked around better....But low guy STILL has the right of way, and you don't have the right to swoop if it endangers others. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  9. He had them...He used them...He admitted to having them...the question is what did he do with them? And he never answered that question. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  10. You seem to keep forgetting that maybe he had bad intel...And therfore is not a liar....But you would rather think he was criminal than just fed bad info. Also Saddam never complied. All he ever had to do was show where/how he got rid of them. He never did. And we knew he had them...And he admitted to having them...Hell he used them...so where did they go? Last time the only thing I knew that just dissapeared was money. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  11. He was also told to show how he got rid of them and cooperate with the UN inspectors...Which he did neither. And we did find missles that he said he got rid off that were designed to carry WMD's and that had a range greater than he was supposed to have. So its not like he complied. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  12. It does not matter Saddam was told to comply and he didn't. The UN voted to use force if he didn't comply and then they backed out. If he had complied he would still be in power. But he didn't. Its a simple matter of Saddam not complying. You have no proof that Bush didn't know...If you do I'd like to see it. So you don't know he lied...He may have gotten bad intel... We know Billy lied. Big difference. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  13. Yes, and with the large differences in sizes of canopies, and fall rates these days it is more of an issue than before. But the basic rules of "Low man has right of way" has not changed. And the real issue is a guy that felt he had the "right" to swoop without any consideration of traffic. 14. Different....When given a chance to almost die...I like to pick new ways so I don't get bored. Around 30 jumps Climbed out without a chest strap done right. Boy was I stupid. Around 300 jumps had a VERY low pull while doing my first video jump. (low as in around 600 feet) Again boy was I stupid. Around 1200 jumps had a really cool spinning mal with a tucked under cutaway handle....For the story do a search its on here somewhere...found it Here Bad luck...But good form keeping the handles and gloves! And now this one....Maybe I would not have died....But it sure would have hurt....The others..I was toast. Simple fact..skydive long enough and there will be a time when you might should have died...Sometimes you don't know it when it happens. I have been in freefall way to close to a cessna before...Close enough that I read the pilots name tag, and smelled his lunch on his breath. 15. It is like Kramer said another aspect of the sport. Done correctly it can be as safe as skydiving can get. I have probabley 2,500 hook turns...I have yet to break anything but my pride and I tore a Jump suit once. The people who get hurt doing "hook turns" are the guys that try to progress faster than their skills. They buy small canopies without really understanding and being able to fly a larger canopy. It can be done safe....By putting your ego in check and listening to the safe guys...not the "cool" guys. You can learn to swoop safe and have fun...But you can't swoop for fun and expect saftey to just come naturally. And AAD's have reduced the number of no pulls/low pulls...However the number of folks that are skydiving is growing...So the number of landing accidents is growing. Like I said if you can put your ego in check swooping can be as safe as skydiving can be. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  16. What was the name of the sim? I have been flying since 1985. Hell bring a plane or one of those Gyros and maybe we can sneak off to the flying field in the morning. This past weekend we had a Pitts flying jumpers and I was flying a 1/3 scale pitts around the DZ during a WX hold. 17. Never said that was the reason, just a by product...And if you think thats all you are very short sighted. Get rid of the ones that live off it and they will be more money....Or heres a plan..Have one mebmber of the family join the Army....Pay and a good health plan. And it pisses me off when folks take a narrow view and can't see both sides... "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  18. I never said that...Its just they don't get killed as much. Not true. One does not mean the other. Him flying an 88 means he had 1500.00 dollars. Besides our argument was on currency....Not total jumps. You can have 10,000 jumps and if you have not jumped in 5 years you are uncurrent and dangerous. 20. This is the 3rd time I think I should have bought it. Setting up my landing approach yesterday I do my left right check and start my hook. The plan was to swoop by the hanger then surf into the wind about 20 feet from the beer line. As I plain out WHOOSH!!!!!! I see a flash of blue pass right in front of me (Less than 15 feet...felt WAY less). I hit the wake from the canopy, lose lift and I end up sliding on my legs to a stop...Kinda cool, but my jump suit is now dirty. (Thank God its black so I still look cool). I start walking up to the guy that cut me off. He is not a local, but I have seen him before. Some have complained about his canopy control. My buddy is already there (A big beefy SF Captain) and he is reading this guy the riot act. I ask "What happened?" He says that I cut him off. "Huh?!?!?! You left after us and I was the low man." He said I turned right in front of him. And he asks me my wingload. "1.7 on a Stiletto. Did you see me below you?" He says that he has an 88, and that he saw me. "How did I cut you off if I was the low guy? You don't always have the right to hook. If there is traffic you don't try to swoop the same area. Besides I was into the wind, you went cross wind right in front of me." He says yeah sorry. "Lets just not do this again." Lessons: You don't have the right to hook if you endanger others. If there is traffic join it, don't do your own thing, and definitely don't go perpendicular to it. Low man has the right of way...I could not see this guy since he was above me and my canopy blocked him from me....but just because you have the right of way does not make you safe. You can do everything right and still die. (Not saying that I did everything right, but its a fact worth writting) "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

  22. It looks good, and you are good looking. I'd personally rather see you in your Kenpo uniform. Yeah, Im a sick bitch. But I like what I like. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  23. Like the good Dr. said...The industry leader sets the standard in most areas. I don't work for PD, but I do jump almost only PD products. While I think there should be a standard who is to say which way is right? For years the Mustang I drove had a 305ci...Now its a 4.6L. And I support ONE standard...But I am not going to say which one. I don't work for PD, or PIA....So maybe one needs to talk to the other? But PD having the lions share of the market has the right to set the standards in my opinion. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  24. Yes, and at 100 jumps you were a little bit different than the normal 100 jump wonder. Hell, you teach physics. And while I would recomend anyone listen to you (even at 100 jumps) about theory....I would not recomend them listen to you (at 100 jumps) about application. I guess it boils down to getting info on WHAT to do...But getting an Instructor to teach HOW to do it. Hell, I live there...I'm there ever weekend. Come on down. Got a fold out bed if ya need it. (I must add I have never used it so I have no idea how it sleeps.) You fly R/C also right? "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  25. Ok rough numbers... USPA members about 35,000. Fatalities so far this year 23. One in 1,521 died. Now there are less than 35,000 active jumpers....And students don't have to join the USPA right off...Tandem jumpers don't have to join at all. Skydiving is a very small sport....Look around at the DZ you go to...In 5 years there is a good chance one of them will be dead. Peep http://www.skydivingfatalities.info/ for more info....
