  1. Im not going to vote.... You should jump all, and see what you like. However, the Diablo is not made anymore, and the Cobalt would never get a vote from me. If you were going to start flyinga WS I would get a Sabre2. I have a Stiletto, and it is the main reason I have not done a WS jump yet. You build a towering 80 foot wall of wood that weighs two million pounds...what part of that sounds like a GOOD idea? And to do it while drinking, and horsing around? And there was a history of it getting more and more dangerous I don't see how being there was a good idea...And yet they flocked to it, and some drank and played around while there were there. If I go to Spain to watch the running of the bulls, and I get gored standing there....I went to a high risk event, and paid the price. They knew what was going on...They knew all about it. Im not slamming them, but they knew they were going to be in a situation that could hurt them. They went of their own free will to be a part of it. Its not like they were just walking by and something fell. They were there for that event. I have to back Kallend here. While it may have been done for almost 100 years, and while it may have a rich tradition....It still was not a good idea, and everyone know it was getting out of hand. He is right, and while I can understand the pain of those close to it. It is a very good example of a Darwin canidate. Everyone that loses someone feels pain...Even the guy that tried to rob the store, and his gun didn't fire so he looked down the barrel had a family. Was that story funny to you? I bet his family and friends cried while you laughed. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

  8. I was in the 82nd...And I don't every remember being called Special Forces....Unless you count the "Special" that rides the short bus. I have heard some people refer to Airborne as "Special Forces"...They were folks that were not in SOCOM or JSOC. If you can prove other wise that would be cool. I can change my resume to Special Forces, instead of MRE fed, Beer cooled, Trained Killer for the Goverment. New Jump plane.

Press Release Rueters: New Skydiving Aircraft Being Tested Bob Smith an avid pilot and one time sky diver began designing a new jump aircraft after hearing of jumpers complaining about how long it takes to get to altitude. An experimental aircraft has been designed, and testing begins this weekend. "Up until now jumpers had to deal with long waits in sky diving aircraft before they could jump" Smith said. The most common jump aircraft is a Cessna 182. It can take up to 30 minutes to reach 10,000 feet. The most popular aircraft for jumping is a Twin Otter. A Twin Otter aircraft can take 20 jumpers to 13,000 feet in about 15 minutes. "Still better than the Cessna, but not fast enough, and hell its made in Canada for Christ sake!!!" Smith began work on his experimental aircraft late last night after drinking with one of his jump buddies. "Mike looked at me and started to bitch about the long rides in Mike Mullins King Air. 7 minutes to 14,000 feet was just way to long." Mike Noitawl is considered to be an "Expert" skydiver by himself and by others with less jumps than him. Mike is a veteran of 98 jumps, and has been jumping for almost one whole year! This new Aircraft will be able to carry only one jumper, but it will get to 15,000 feet in around 4 minutes. "I plan on jumping it for my 100th jump" Nowitawl said. "It's gonna be sweet!" 12. Its called a joke....Ya know, humor, stories told to provoke laughter, irony..ect???? Ever heard of the concept? I know about the Delta compound, the training, and the missions. OK, I'll explain the joke...You see most conventional units are told they don't exist. Oh hell never mind...You were Navy, and I don't have the time to explain it over and over again.(See thats a joke) "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

Well sorry to see you go.... We need more VOR's (Voices Of Reason) in this sport. You have had a full jumping career, no one can say you didn't fully do it. Truth is I have been thinking close to the same thing, for close to the same reasons. Take care and peace be with you. PS. When you find out what to do on a beautiful weekend that does not involve jumping...Let me know. 14. Don't you know they dont exist? I mean there is a big red roofed building and all at Ft.Bragg....But they don't exist. There is "the other side of the fence"....That big red building has a fence...Ummmmm maybe thats whats in there? And they recruit from the Infantry as well...And I know of a mechanic that was training to go to selection. Now, where they go when they get selected is anybodies guess.... 15. I can't find a fatality....But I do know of several accidents where a guy stows his slider on loops like that...The one that comes to mind was on a jumpsuit..And then had a problem cutting away from a collision. The slider keeper held the trash. I would not do it. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

  17. Well Im being honest. I can't tell 6 grand from 7 with any super degree of accuracy. I CAN however tell breakoff within 500 feet, and most times its 500 feet high. (Yeah, I get scared). I can also tell when I am low and the ground is moving very fast at me. So while I cant look at the ground and say.."I'm at 5,234 and 1/2 feet". I can look at the ground and say "Hey, Im normally tracking about now", and "Oh shit that planet is moving fast!!!!" 21. Oh how about these? * You call it "Freak Flying" instead of "Sit Fly" and can do it without a special jump suit.' * You still call it the "Freak Brothers" convention...Now you say Rantol instead of Quincy. * You think diapers go on mains. * You don't call a jump from 9,500 a "cloud base" jump. * You know what a "jesus string" is.
