  2. The PD 210 will be a good canopy... Not the best you could hope for. The flare will not be as strong as a ZP canopy. But I know folks that weigh more than you that jump them. The speed will be the same as a ZP canopy, but the flair will be less, and it will wear out faster. However, if it is a good price, and it is in good shape, I would get it. Beats rental gear Edit, I had a 220 square foot 7 cell for my first rig.. I weighed 150 pounds, and it was WAY big...But it safley landed me for over 300 jumps. The 9 cell is going to flare better than it did. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  3. .40 is my fav...I have a nice Glock 27. But for most carry issues I carry a Lady Smith .357. (Ya go ahead and laugh) Its perfect. It is small, light, DA only, and it has the reliability of being a revolver. (If ya need more than 5 shots...you are going into the wrong places to start.) Its about function, not looking cool. 4. All I saw was "pole smoking and depression" I thought..."Well if I was gay I'd be pretty damn depressed." But then I saw it was POLL: That changes things "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  5. Well Im glad you got it back.... The last time she chopped I got her canopy for her. I had to climb 200 feet up a tree on a pencil thin branch, risking life and limb. Ok maybe not, but don't tell her. While she didn't chop this one, she has several chops.....Learning to pack is a muther fucker. 6. Well you got that part right "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  7. Rangers earned the black beret. Airborne earned the marron ones. But some POG REMF is now wearing the black beret just to make a bunch of kids feel good about themselves? You should have to EARN things...Thats how the military buids charecter...By making you eran thingsm then letting you stand out above the crowd once you have don it... It's not just in a cool uniform. Im waiting for supply guys to get blue cords like the infantry gets. Just cause us infantry folks looked cool with them. 8. Some canopies have them. Others don't The Stiletto, Sabre2, Spectre basicly everything they make are listed as VLC (Varies with landing conditions) Velocities are the only listed with a min weight. The min weight being a 1:1 WL. So most canopies don't have Min wingloads...Some do. I don't buy that a higher loaded canopy is safer in turbulent winds....Turbulance can take out an aircraft and it has solid wings....If its that turbulant you probably should not be jumping anyway. Besides with all open nosed canopies they don't have anything keeping the air in anyway really. Airlocked and to a lesser extent Crossbraced canopies have closed noses...They WILL help in light turbulance. I have seen people land Tandem mains solo...And the Military has 300+ sized mains. Yes, sometimes it can be hard to inflate the end cells...but I have never seen a real danger of collapse. 9. When I was flying acro I was told to set it to Zero on the ground.... That way you know high high you are above the ground without having to subtract.... for all other types of aviation I believe you are correct for the reasons you gave. 10. If he was "heads up" he would not have flown an airplane into the ground. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  11. good catch. Its fixed. What do you want? Im at work. Now all I need is Kallend comming in and telling me I got some physics wrong. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  12. They cost like 20 bucks right? Get them, they are worth it. As for a combination suit...do like someone already said..Get an RW suit and just wear loose clothes for FF. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  13. 1 to 1....The first number is the weight of the person and gear to include the main divided by the square footage of the canopy. I weigh 150 pounds and I have a rig that weighs 15 pounds. When I get on a scale right before I get on a plane I weigh 165 pounds. If I am jumping a 170, I am at 165/170 or a wingload of .97...Also written as .97 to 1. If I am on a 107 I am 165/107=1.54...I am at a 1.54 to 1 wingload. Hard can be from it opening so that it is uncomfertable....To killing you or destroying the gear. Deaths are rare, but have happened. Usually it is due to a medical issue, but I can think of one where a FF guy had a reserve open while head down and it killed him. Maybe, but more likley just how it should be flown. An aircraft needs more runway when it is Hot, and at a high altitude. It needs less when it is at sea level and it is cold. A canopy is a glider and the same rules of physics apply. While I am fine jumping an 88 in Zhills on a cold day, that same canopy in Denver when it is hot might be to high of a wingload to land. 14. bingo. This is s design question...Not something I know tons about....However yes a bigger canopy CAN open harder. There is a reason that a Velocity does not come in 135+...Yes packing volume is one of the reasons...But Canopies don't scale. So if you take a canopy and make it all around 10% bigger...It WILL NOT open and fly the same...The reason is the air it travels through will not scale. Wingload and TYPE of canopy is more important that just size. There is no "correct" canopy size. It is dependant on the planeform (Type), Material (ZP vs F-111), density altitiude of the DZ...(A 120 flies much faster in Denver than in Tampa, FL.) Winds...And skills of the pilot. There are folks I would not EVER put on a small elliptical. And others I could see on a larger one at 150ish jumps. Listen to your instructors (not the ones that are trying to sell you their old gear) and when in doubt remember that being broken sucks, and error on the side of saftey. 15. Yeah that one week I took off since it was to cold reall got me scared. It was like 50 degrees out!!!!! Florida rocks. Its normal....It's natural....It's healthy. Don't push it when you first get back. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  16. Just not afrilly one. I had one that was a goldne hand holding a pin...I put it on my regular necklace. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  17. Why? You are in NC...there are AMA fields there. Get a computer sim. They are about 200.00 But they do a good job of teaching the basics. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

    Block 10

This is not talkback..We don't flame folks for stupid questions. We just make them buy beer As for ugly...thats why they made Full face helmets. I really didn't know what the hell you were talking about....But I thought maybe you didn't really mean block 10. Anyone near Suffolk so we can make sure he buys beer? "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  19. Ding, Ding...We have a winner...Unfortunately you didn't phrase it as a question, so we are gonna have to make you buy beer. The GK's used to be able to launch that fucker..amazing. Booties kinda killed those blocks. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  20. False. Not all claim a minimum wingload. And I have seen folks under 300+ sized canopies..and they did fine. The only issue that bigger canopies have is high winds. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  21. My opinion is that as you get more jumps, and spend more time in the sport you might change your mind. A big differemce between motorcycles and skydiving is motorcycles have brakes...If you feel that things are going to fast you can stop. In skydiving the whole part of skydiving is to stop...And sometimes its not easy. I don't know enough about Bobsled or Skeleton to say anything... I mean I have watched it, but never done it. I have seen WAY to many Femurs to even count. And I see about one death every two years...I know someone who bounces every year. I think after a little while your opinion of the sport might change some...I could be wrong. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  22. Oh, I don't think you are trying to show me up...And frankly I would not care anyway. I don't need to prove myself to anyone, anymore, anyway. But, I am telling you WHY folks are calling you a troll....Again I don't care. I do think you are argumentative...And it seems I'm the only one stupid enough to continue to argue some of the stupid points. But the PERCEPTION is that you are after me....I don't think so, but others do....Something to think about. You are starting to be seen as someone that likes to argue...I have that same moniker...But the difference is people think you will not listen when you are given answers...So they wonder why do you keep asking if you don't listen? The only answer is to troll. In other threads others said the same thing and you still refused to listen....So the question remains...Why ask if you are not going to listen? For what its worth I don't think you are after me...Since you do stick to your guns against everyone that does not think your way.... But I do wonder why ask if you are not going to listen? And I never thought I was a God. But you don't seem to listen to others at all, anyway...which is why folks think you are trolling. You get info and then you start another thread that it seems purpose is to try and prove someone wrong....It just so happens that person is me..... But we have already decided that you seem to be after me since I am one of the few that will not just give up and stop paying atention to your questions since you don't listen and seem to like to just argue. Again I don't think you are after me...I just think Im to stupid to just give up and let you think what you want. But others seem to think you are after me. 25. I would call both and ask about the program and the targeted learning objectives of both....Find out who is going to be coaching at that particular camp. I doubt you would go wrong with either. Both have good coaches, one has World Champions but costs more. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
