  1. Is not what you asked...It's how you asked it. WHO said it is not important to this thread...It does seem to some that you have an issue with just about anything I say...It's not like I care, but I have gotten PM's about it. So that is why you look like a troll. It seems you are fishing to try and "show me up".... The key phrase here is "and that if I felt that flying a larger canopy meant that I was safer that it was a mistaken idea." Just getting a bigger canopy does not make you safe...This girl just broke herself on a big canopy cause she screwed up. However on a smaller canopy she might have been fine...Or much worse. Bigger tends to be slower...and slower tends to be safer....Going backwards is the only situation that I can think of that makes bigger more dangerous...I can think of several issues that makes smaller more dangerous....And the bigger higher wind issue is easy to avoid...Don't jump in high winds. When in doubt go with safer. Bigger tends to be safer. Some would say that I am considered "Mucho experienced"....But it seems you just refuse to listen to me for whatever reason, and are shopping around for an answer that fits you better... Its not like I really care. I still sleep at night. But many others have said the exact same thing I said...On this thread and on others....Might be because it is the conventional wisdom. Block 10

Most teams give it to the front piece. Its easier to train 2 people to learn all the moves in two slots than teach 4 people two different slots. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  3. And there are planes you CAN see the ground. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  4. If you are going to quote me...quote everything that is relevant "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  5. I can do it as a passenger. I do have a pilots license and I can tell when the plane is getting pushed by the winds aloft. Acctually SEEING the amount of drift is much better than some numbers given to you by some WX station (That most times is not correct). Plus 3,000 jumps of experience helps "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  6. Maybe "safer", but still not safe. Skydiving is safer than russian roulet. Russian roulet is safer than jumping off a building without a rig. But that does not make russian roulet "Safe" BTW grant how many jumps do you have? "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  7. Had a nasty low cutaway from a mal....If you are ever in Zhills I'll show it to you if you ask. So I really thought about quitting jumping...I started SCUBA and went SCUBA divinga lmost every day for about 6 mths...I went from nothing to Master in 5 mths. Now I do both. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  8. I can spot without the winds aloft. I can spot BETTER with them, but I don't need them. I can watch the drift of the plane while we climb and get all the info I need. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  9. Spot as in determining the exit point. The military uses HARP to determine a "SPOT" for HALO.....You don't look out, you just go when the green light goes on. Overcast at night...You just go. Thats what these guys did. Center told the pilot they were good, and they went. HARP has screwed me once...so bad that the Aircrew almost lost its certification. It seems the Center screwed them. 10. Did you read This post where he called me an idiot? It is clear he didn't understand the sentence Never did I CALL him an idiot....I said IF you let the DZO or pilot pick your spot you are an idiot. In another thread Here. I wrote something along the same lines. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  11. Yes, I have thought about it. However its not easy to coach over the internet. And not all groups should do it the same way.. a new team should not try photon like my team does it... So there could be issues...So I just like to answer when a team has issues. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  12. Read what I wrote stud....Im not calling you an idiot...I said. now if you do that...fine you are an idiot. You are stupid to not be able to understand english however. See the difference? "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

  14. We learned not to snap it anyway. You can spin that thing so fast that it screws the rear. Its best not to snap it. Is your IC pulling you in as he steps forward? "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  15. You were not in my spotting class at the hills? I thought you were? Kelly was, and so was Dagny "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

Well it has been hanging in my bedroom since before I can remember. My print has a WWI Sopwith Camel on it. The date on the print is 1972, I was born in 1972 and as long as I can remember my Dad had it hanging in my bedroom. Ever since I have lived on my own, I have always had it hanging in my Bedroom. Any wonder I fly and skydive? "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

  19. It does not matter much anyway, most folks that learn AFF could not spot the planet, much less the exit point. I would say maybe a handful of folks at most large DZ's know how to really spot. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  20. Yeah and I have landed off there SEVERAL times. Its a bullshit rule. Its MY ass on the line, not the damn pilots. I don't care how many hrs, or how many jumps the guy has...Its MY skydive not his. I have had a pilot in DeLand and I go around on this also...Simple fact if I don't like the spot I don't go...Land the damn plane with me in it..I'll just pack up and leave. You are an idiot to allow a DZO or pilot tell you what is safe with your ass. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
