Its not the first time....It gets easier and does not hurt after a while...In fact you will begin to enjoy it "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

Look, I agree Narcimund is always bitching about being a second class citizen (even though he has the *exact same* rights I have)... But to claim his post's are annoying while you have a habit of posting Is not much better. at least he expresses an opinon and even if you don't like it or agree with it, he has the right to express it. I think he is WAY off base with some of his ideas. Its no secret he has an axe to grind with anyone that disagrees with him...And I do see this as a backdoor attack on Tuna. But he has the right to post as he pleases, just like you can post about pie. Hell Narcimund hates me, and I think you are out of line. Then we will be taxed as "amusement rides". Also the tilt-a-whirl at the state fair is not as dangerous and as potentaily deadly. Almost no physical danger. However the financial danger is pretty big. I will agree with you on several points. 1. Stupid rules, or rules that are ignored should go away....But this is the FAA after all, so thats not likely to happen. 2. Most Tandem jumpers will never jump again. So it does not matter for the most part... However for those that continue it sets a bad example to let them start jumping with a buzz and then tell them they cannot drink and jump as an AFF student, or fun jumper. Unless you think licensed jumpers should be allowed to drink? 3. There is very little physical danger to allowing a tandem to jump under the influnece... However the legal dangers are quite huge. And at what level do you call it? One beer? a certain BAC? No, I agree with it. It would set a bad example and opens up WAY to many legal issues. Is drinking that important? They had ZP Excal's years before Icarus started to make the FX. They didn't feel the need to make them since the Stiletto was still selling like crazy. Marketing question for Dead4life: If you have the majority of the market, and no one can touch your market share or compete with your canopies....Why release the new hot thing when you don't have to release it? PD is ALWAYS testing something. Just because they don't slap a HP canopy together every other day does not mean they are not working on stuff. They made the Navigator which is a great student canopy. Why focus on JUST HP flight when the majority of folks that think of themselves as "canopy pilots" can't fly their old canopy to its max? This quote is great BTW. I got a bunch of PMs asking if I knew him...I never met the guy. He claimed to jump at Zhills, but no one knew who he was. There was some questions about the had the 3000 jumps he claimed to have. I never cared how many jumps he claimed to have since he almost never posted to the "meaty" threads here about skydiving. But I never met him, never knew who he was. And I work a bunch with the SOCOM guys here at MacDill. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

LOL...Outdated? You are killing me. It's wose business to sell or let someone borrow something that will kill them... Defending Lawsuits sucks. I disagree 100% And your own profile says you have PD's in both your main and reserve trays. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

I think Tuna was a real boy. Why? Well he was seeing a member of this board "Dagny" And I have met Dagny. It is possible that it was all made up and "Dagny" was in on it, but I doubt it. He left SC. Dec 27, 2004, 5:27 PM He left the board Jan 24, 2005, 4:26 AM Possible reasons he left? 1. He got a life. 2. He realized that the this board is just the same shit from the same folks. 3. He got banned from the section he liked and while he tried to stick around, he really didn't enjoy himself 4. Contracting in Iraq. 5. It could be that he WAS involved with Phillykev getting fired and can't be on here due to the legal crap that is going on. 6. He got the perma Ban "Hot Fork"(TM) 7. He could be dead. Some other cool stories. 1. I have had a few folks say I created him..That makes little sense since its not my style to hide my opinions, and since we had close to the same agenda what fun would that be? 2. He could have been PK's alter ego. 3. A lefty created Tuna to make all the folks voting for Bush look like nut jobs. Now I think he got banned from the part of this site he liked...PK, Peaceful J, Kallend, and myself were all warned that we were on a short list of people to be perma booted from SC...I was told that there were more on that list, but the Mod who told me I *think* said there were 10 total. PJ and Kallend were booted from SC for quite a while. It could be very possible that Tuna was banned and didn't like any other section of the site. So life took over and he left. There are other possibilities that are WAY more likely than yours. Yours is possible, but the evidence points somewhere else. Yeah, just like the carry laws did. I agree you should not have to try and escape your home. To be honest not so hot on this one....While I agree with it... [Miaggi voice]The best defense is not be there[/Miaggi voice] I would rather people in public be encouraged to try and escape before violence is permitted....After that, or if there is no chance to escape....Then its a good shoot. OK I have 2,000 jumps on a Stiletto loaded at around 1.75...Is that enough? How about 200 jumps on a Velo 96 at 1.87? How about 300 or so jumps on an 88 loaded at over 2.0? No? OK how about a few jumps on a 69 loaded at 2.6? I hear people say they knw what they are doing al the time...Very few really do know what they are doing. I love PD...In fact it is their not just sending out canopies to just anyone since they signed a waiver that makes it so I BUY PD canopies when I have been offerd FREE canopies from other companies. I want to support the company with the good product that is responsible and not out to just make a buck. My first new canopy was orderd as a Stiletto 97...John called and we talked for 30-40 mins. After our talk he agreed to sell me a 107...After our talk I bought a 120. You have to LOVE a company like that. They care about the customer, not the customers wallet. Holy Shit TK...We have agreed TWICE this mth?!?!?!? This is not a gun problem (as most deaths from guns are not gun problems, but people problems). Both these kids were stupid. State legilature is considering gun safty class in schools
Ron replied to KevinMcGuire's topic in Speakers Corner
I disagree. Letting kids shoot in a controled environment will take some of the "majic" out of a gun. When I was in the 6th grade we went to a palce called "Natures Classroom" we learned some survival skills how to make a fire in the woods safely, shoot BB guns and use a bow and arrow. This was a public school program. I think it is a great idea. I think a gun saftey program is a GREAT idea. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334 -
§ 91.17 states: So while .04 BAC of #4 is true, you must also meet the other three. So thats no drinking for the past 8 hours, not under the influence, on any drug that is contrary to saftey. So if you drank 9 hours ago and had 0.03 BAC...Guess what? While good under #1, and #4 you would still get busted by #2 and #3. They wrote it pretty much to say, "Don't drink and fly." Also, § 105.7: 105.7 spells it out really easily. No one under the unfluence may conduct a parachute operation. You agree that even one drink puts you under the influence. So its pretty clear that the FAA would slam you for it. BTW part of my job is dealing with the FAA on a now daily basis (Oh, Joy). The FAA has given my company its very own FAA Regional Saftey Inspector as part of the Air Transportaion Oversight System that came about due to the Valuejet crash in 97. Once I fiqure out how cool this FAA guy is, I will ask him his take on this....Anyone wanna take bets?
