I found on mine that it always started one way and drifted to the other as the battery wore down. I don't know if it is the same for all Blades...just mine. So you may be correct. With the trim centered. does it stay straight on yours? "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

Due to the fact that the tail is run from a seperate motor not a belt or shaft, the trim for the anti torque pedals (the one on the bottom left) starts on one side and moves to the other as the battery runs down. So don't center that one. Also, Chuck....The Acro kit is not a good idea for quite some time. The semi blades require the lower teeth gear. 4. I still log student jumps....It helps me keep a record of how many studnents I jumped with for my invoice. Also I record Demos to show currency. I "try" to log team jumps....But the last few years it has been one entry that says something like "170 jumps, 15.7 at Nationals, 7th place, Perris" "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  5. I don't know the details...Im sure someone will fill them in. Hoover lost his medical due to something (I think it was medication, but I don't recall). He worked with the FAA to tey and get it cleared up, but they never gave it back. So he started doing shows with a Co-pilot to try and work around the medical issue. Then the FAA got pissed and told him he could not do that since I think it was "Duel Instruction" is not allowed at airshows. So Hoover left the states and went to Australia. AFAIK, he is still doing shows around the world, but just not in the US. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  6. He left the US and started flying in Australia. I don't know if he still is or not. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  7. I would not let you jump an Audible will off Student Status. You need to learn to look at your altimeter, not just wait for a beep to tell you to pull. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  8. I used to write books about each jump (good from a learning standpoint). Then after a while it was Date, location, Jump size/points. who was on it. Then it was Date, Location Jump size and points. Then it was Date, Location Then It was severall jumps on one entry per day. Then by weekend "Team Jumps 1600-1615" Then nothing. Now I have a Neptune and it works fine. After a while saying "I have "X" jumps" stopped being a big deal. 9. Simple, you have to have it to jump at most DZ's in the US. He has a vaild question. He already admitted he screwed up, but that does not change the fact that it makes little sense to do things the way they do. 10. Short answer....Depends on the person. Long answer: 1. Depends on the person . If you have 8,000 jumps, you can go long periods and might be safe. If you have 100 or so, its not a good idea to go mths without a jump. The trick to this is to know you will not have your "A" game and not push it. If you go a year without jumping and then try to jump your tiny "go fast" canopy on the first jump back while doing a 100way....Well you will be asking for trouble. 2. Depends on the dive. If you are not current you should not get on a big RW load. If you are really not current you should only jump with Instuctors or do solos, if you are *really* uncurrent you should only jump with Instructors. And you would be correct. How many Golden Knights, Airspeed members, or other 500-1000 jump a year people do you know that die in this sport? A few yes, but most of those were really pushing the envelope. In my opinion, being current is THE safest thing you can do in this sport...Not having an AAD or RSL, or having tunnel, or cool gear...Jumping is the best way to be safe in this sport. Thats a question you have to answer for you. The BSR's are the MINIMUM in my opinion. Personally I don't feel right unless I jump a few times a mth, and the longest I have ever gone without a jump was 3 mths due to the Army. I was not worried since I had 1500 jumps at the time and I did a simple two way to get back into the saddle. I would say that if you are not going to be "in" the sport, don't be in the sport. Its not like SCUBA diving where you can go on one dive trip a year and be in it. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

Yes you can...I did and still do when I fly mine. The thing is if you put the semi-symetrical blades on it, you need to change the gear on the motor since the semi blades need more RPM. That means that you need more power as well. If you are flying the flat blade (and I see very little reason not to just fly the flats) then you will be fine with just the Lipolys. Been a member of that site for a while. I am a "Contributing Editor"....Which does not really mean much. While I don't share Chuckies...."Firewall it and go" approach. Take it easy and you will be fine. Its a trainer, and you have some experience. It would be a good idea to find someone to help with the first flight and set up. But if not, make sure the trims are correct and the fligth controls are int he correct direction and don't be afraid. Lipoly's are lighter, stronger, and run longer. The only problem is that they are a little tempermental and can be dangerous if over charged or run down. But over all they are hands down better than NiCad or NiMa. But I added a lipoly to my Blade and got about another 3 min of flight with less weight and the power curve does not drop as fast. It seems that way to many. And there is a saying that if many think it is true, than it is at least to them. Perception is reality to those involved. Hell, even RL agrees with me on this...And she NEVER agrees with me. It's an opinion, and you have jumped my ass many times for not listening, recognizing, or validating others opinions. The CX is the easier to fly. Get the CP. But I will tell you that the bigger they are, the better they fly... BTW just flew my new Sceadu .50....Fun, fun, fun. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

Get a good charger, you will much happier with a good one than a cheap one. A good one(that is kinda cheap) is http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXCTZ5&P=ML DC only, but really good. Can do all three major battery types and two at the same time. Aileron/elevator. Just bank it and then use the elevator to turn it. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

Snap rolls... Knife edge also needs rudder, but I am a snap roll kinda guy. BTW I smoked in my Venture .50 glow. I was working on what is called a pirroeting flip....Well, I ended up smoking it right into the ground. My right hand was trying to half loop out of it (I had plenty of altitude), but my left hand went o "plane" mode and cut the power...Which gave full down pitch and made it so the heli never pulled out. So I went to the hobby shop, repaired two servos, pulled the radio engine out and gave it to a guy that has the same model and no money for parts...Then walked out the door with a Sceadu Evo. 23. #1. Ask an Instructor. There are people on here qualified to answer...And people who are not. You don't know enough to know the difference yet. Marks, BillVon, BodyPilot are all qualified IMO...some say I am. We all have AFF ratings...But you know who is even MORE qualified than all of us? The Instructor that jumped with you. Anyone else (including us) is just quessing. People without ratings are really guessing. If you have a question and your instructor is not around...Write it down and ask the next time you see them. DZ.com can be a good place for advice...But some of it is really bad advice. That being said, weights will not help you arch. They can help you fall faster and I have put them on later level students that insisted on jumping with me. (after I put on a big floppy suit first). But arching is a life saving skill and must be learned. I would not allow any student to use them as a replacement for arching. 24. 1. Start when you are not old enough to drink (19). 2. Don't drink a bunch or smoke. (Say a pack a day and two beers from the bar at night 8.00 X 365 = 2920.00/18 = 162 jumps a year. 3. Live in a trailer on the DZ. 2000.00 for the trailer. 200.00 per mth rent, live there for 4 years = 11600.00 vs 650.00 per mth rent on an apartment X 4 years = 31200.00....So 19,600.00 saved or 1088 jumps or 272 jumps a year. 4. Drive an old car that you own...Save 400.00 bucks a mth or 266 jumps a year. 5. Get ratings..That way your jumps are paid, and you GET paid. Tandem or AFF pays say two fun jump tickets and you do 100 work jumps a year. Thats 300 jumps a year. So without a good job, just one that gives you food money.... Don't drink or smoke 162 Live in a trailer 272 Drive a beater car 266 Get a rating 300 1000 jumps a year. Starting at 19 and by the time you are 25, you will have plenty of jumps. However, some of that time is better spent in school.....Just ask a guy that has been jumping a long time and just went back to move forward in his career....Number of jumps is not everything. Anyone that askes the question...fun now, or a future will get the future answer from me everytime. Chuck hit it pretty well. I would suggest getting another plane. While those fly well, a little bigger plane with a semi symetrical airfoil will handle wind much better and be able to perform more stunts.
