I know this may be a little off subject but I would really like to see some explanation as to why one manufacturer does things one way and another does it differently. I really do like your course ideas! Grant

Consistent off heading openings on my new Sabre 2
Spizzzarko replied to Newbie's topic in Gear and Rigging
"Saw a pretty nasty spinning malfunction two weeks ago from a guy doing this. (but it was a velo - canopy was turning one way and he barely tapped the rear riser and it turned around and wrapped the other way catching the small riser input into the resulting twist and locking the turn = spinning out of control - it happened so very quick) " Wow... Sucks to be that dude. I always steer my velo to keep it from hauling ass one way or another on opening. I have found the less shit I do to the canopy during packing the better openings I get. I saw a dude jump a velo with the brakes unstowed this weekend. That was interesting to say the least. I have jumped canopies with the brakes unstowed before (very slow openings), but not a velocity as it opens fairly slow as is. -
"disclaimer: start higher if you're going to try this " True dat...

Don't push the nose in any. Quarter the slider really well and pull the slider out in front of the nose. Do not roll the tail very much if at all. Try 1/2 turn of the tail. -
If you are flying video all the time like I know you are then you may want to reconsider. You will have to take you hands out of your wings to possibly get your slider. I am taller than you and sometimes have a difficult time of getting my slider on the 24" risers. As far as dive goes you can change a lot about your technique to build up dive. I bet if you started in really deep brakes and slowed your turn rate down in the beginning, but sped it up in the end that would give you a little more power. Grant

You see Dan comes accross as the non threatening male to the chicks. They get comfortable around him and then Dan and the girls start to share underwear secrets and eventually he makes his move for the tits. It is a brilliant tactic if you have the patience to pull it off.

She would snap at you three times in "Z" formation.

Distance is only a small portion of the overall. I think all of the combined events gives us a good idea of who the best overall canopypilot is! Distance is a fun power event but you can be good at distance ans shiity at freestyle which is a finesse event. It is not all about power.

Less beer and cheeseburgers would help too, but that is no fun.

HEY PEOPLE! Tony and teh rest of the folks at VSE make some pretty darn good risers. This is the truth that I speak!

Should be 17 to jump, not 18!
Spizzzarko replied to Philly215's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I've waited 12 years til I can finally get to go, and now that it's close it seems like it's never coming up! It is this attitude that is contributing to the death of skydiving!!!!! -
Don't do it...

"It's the same philosophy of why a Cessna 150 and a Citation can operate from the same airport" Those are powerd aircraft. I have not been able to get my Velocity to do a go around yet... Is there something I am missing? Sure the Manta and the velo can hang together, but it isn't the best mix, especially if the velo wants to fly in anything other than 90% breaks and flaring from there would suck a little.

Hi, Swoopers really are not bad people and I am sure they would like to help you out by showing you how some of their gear. Riser inserts are pretty much mandatory in the swoop community and have been for years now. You guys should adopt them too. Also a longer chest strap may help yall out to if you need to flatten your glide out and make up some distance. When you get where you need to go just tighten it back up. I know yall like the gear that is older and broken in (old and ratty) but there have been a few advances in technology since your wonderhog circa 1984 was made.

Spizzzarko replied to McDuck's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
"Ian is a very good teacher." He does have a passion for this stuff, and wearing gay red shirts.
