The od is a comfortable rig. I own one, but I like the fact of the stronger reserve pilot chute spring on the vector. I own an infinty too. It is a good option too. If you don't go low then you will not need the skyhook.

"canopy freeflying" Do you have to have long hair and smoke pot to do canopy free flying? Are old people allowed to do it? -
xaos 27 packing, opening, flare
Spizzzarko replied to CKSCUBA's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
I noticed if I pull the slider far out on my JVX the outer cells have a tendancy of bouncing off of each other in front of the canopy before it opens. It is not scary or violent, but just different -

Your post shows how little you know about swooping. People who are swooping properly start their turn close to 1,000' and are usually done rotating by about 200-300' above the ground leaving them time to make minor corrections towards the gates. If your idea of swooping was correct then there would be many more dead people than there are now. -

Yawn... You guys are still arguing all of this shit? Old people are going to hate swoopers, and swoopers are going to hate old people. Saying swooping will go away is like the old style and acc guys saying 4-way will go away. In time we will see, and I'm sure the old people will be wrong. Swoopers are not aiming for you people so just get that stupid notion out of your head. Swoopers are probably more afraid of the stupid things you people do in the pattern than you are of swoopers aiming for you. -
Try 2.5ish. I was getting 2.5 on a vx from a long cross country one time. That was with a tail wind.

I have felt teh JVX brake settings to be pretty much right on. The canopy does have quite a deep flare stroke for a 9 cell and if you lengthen them to much you could be having to flare more in your transition from rears to toggles causing you to loose some altitude, and in distance runs altitude is your friend. The brake lines on the jvx are Vectran I believe. I do not like the seperate lower control line that the JVX has, but I have not changed my entire steering line out. If you are having trouble with tail deflection durring a front riser input then you may want to only use fronts for teh first part of your turn and then transition to a harnes turn to finish it off. The jvx really responds well to the harnes input.

CJ is right. This is only a band aid to the problem that needs an amputation. -

it sounds like the taliban is in power with all this banning talk. Next thing you know all swoopers will have to wear black face scarves and will not be able to show any leg skin with the little fag pant capris that some of them wear. -

ok that is nice and all but we are talking about those that will be going down the slope faster in a group that is going quite a bit slower. Also a velocity will have a signifigant steeper glide than that of a sabre 2 or stilletto or spectre ect ect ect. So is the answer to require certain types of canopies for certain applications? -
Fuck yea bann em all I say. What is the reason to go to boogies now a day with the prolifferation of big turbine DZ's in almost every state. If your state doesn't have a turbin DZ then you are just part of a taliban regime .

True we can hang out in brakes quite a bit but it slows our forward movement down quite a bit too when we are trying to float. So that doesn't help anyone else behind us. -

"If not, perhaps you should learn a little more about how things fly" My, aren't you derogatory tonight. Stow the tude dude and maybe we can continue this discussion. I'm sure HH would not appreciate his moderators being asses, otherwise he would have asked JP and I to be mods. I realize this but many people who fly the higher loaded canopies do not like turning that low as they really sink out from input. Starting at 800-1000 is not always practicle. -

""The" pattern starts 800-1000 feet AGL" I think that you will find many people flying smaller canopies balking at those numbers to start a down wind. That may be cool for your 190, but not for a 96.
